We are still playing Imperial Assault, currently on our 3rd campaign. Was hoping they would announce the development of a clone wars era version of Imperial Assault with an all new core box.
I don't know if it has been mentioned yet, but the Imperial Commander 2 app has brought this game back to life for me. It lets you play through the book campaigns in a digital format similar to the official app, which allows single players to finally experience that side of the game.
Imperial Assault is probably my favourite FFG star wars game. I love the original characters they created. CT-1701 was the coolest Hero they made. I recently introduced a group of friends to it and they found it really fun as an alternative to regular DnD. It's a great game for groups that like playing campaigns together. Incredible value in it too, so much content and things to do with even just the core set. Absolutely love it
Just played 2 skirmish games of it last night! The game is still awesome and I wouldn't write-off the skirmish version, it is a good, quick way to scratch that Star Wars itch without gettting into a campaign. The rules are also really well written making for smooth play and easy learning for beginners.
I played the core, Hoth, and Jabba campaigns with friends a few years ago. After moving and waiting for my kids to grow up, I've done three of the app campaigns and two full campaigns with my sons. The youngest is seven. I love this game - it's also my first stab at painting miniatures. Regarding skirmish, the Imperial Assault Continuity Project (IACP) has been running tournaments and putting together new waves of characters and units. They're doing good work.
Great video, thank you :-) I`ve never understood why games have such a short shelf life (i.e. once a game is no longer current and all the rage... people lose interest and move on to the next NEW thing). Look at Monopoly, RISK, Commands and Colours, etc etc, they`ve been around for years and in some cases for decades. I still play things like WorC`s Star Wars Miniatures Skirmish, and I play games I bought as a kid (50 years ago) such as Thane Tostig, and I still play them as much today as I did back then. Even later games like Rogue Trader, original 40K Epic, Necromunda, and so on (although I regard games that were popular 20 and 30 years ago as relatively new). I have never understood why once a game is no longer talked about or readily available, people lose interest in them. Imperial Assault is a great game, and if you don`t like the rules.. then just use the miniatures use in your favourite system. Just because its an older game, doesn`t mean it deserve less love than new stuff. For me, games like Impersial Assault will always be current either when playing alone or with family and friends (and I dont use the ap.. I like the real hands on style of play). I totally agree with you that this game is truly inspiring and a world of fun to immerse into :-)
This is my group’s favorite game, we have played all the campaigns. It’s a great game. It does nor seem like a complete game because it is missing return of the Jedi content.
Totally agree. Heart of the Empire, and Lothal expansion are ok. But I would have loved to see Endor and the Death Star final battle. Even a small box expansion would have been great. An X wing pilot and some Alien as heroes. Some Ewoks as Allie tokens. Some speeder bikes and scout troopers as enemy units. And a Death Star commander as a Boss. I don't know, without the battle on Endor, Imperial Assault feels incomplete to me.
Thanks Crabbok for being such a positive part of the Star Wars gaming community and everything you do! At SWC Chicago 2019 i did a meet / greet with Sam Witter. We had a solid 5 min convo about IA and X-Wing, definitely a highlight from the trip. As someone with a 100% complete collection, i can second its more stuff than you'll ever get all the way through. My gaming group swaps out imp players, Myself as one, and its interesting to see the very different tactics we pick. So even though we may have played the same campaign before, its a VERY different experience depending on who's playing imp. A shout out to the Imperial Assault Sub-Reddit. Its a great community and anyone new or experienced should check it out. They didnt happen to mention the app at all? Does "Complete" mean they are done porting over expansions and missions?
I finished completing the whole Collection, all Expansions and character packs and I haven't even finished the Core Game Scenario ! That is how much I Love it ! Happy to hear Marc Thompson also plays the game, loved his High Republic AudioBooks.
I have totally enjoyed this game. Have ran several campaigns at home, many at school and game store AND haven't even touch three of the small side campaigns. Lately have seen more people buying this then getting into legion at our local
I combined all the campaigns together into one giant campaign with two teams alternating. Team 1 does the core missions, team 2 does organized and randomized side quests. At the end of each campaign 2 heros unlock to be added to the hero rotation.
Hands down a great game & the single best family gaming experiences I've had: DM'ing campaigns with the kids and cranking up their excitement over the rounds is a magical experience and provides so many moments to reflect upon. I loved the blister pack expansions, they added so much with the added skirmish and campaign maps. The IA Continuity Project has some great stuff & is keeping the game alive.
Love Imperial assault. I know they aren't making anymore physical product but would love it if they continued to support the app and add more missions to include all the expansions.
What would have been cool would have been a campaign set with some imperial 'heroes' taking on missions against a dm controlled rebel force. Really enjoyed the game and had a good group of us locally pre pandemic. Despite trying nobody has shown much interest in resuming play. Between groups I've done tyrants of lothal, twin shadows and a core campaign. Also done hoth and jabba's realm solo at home using the app.
I haven't played a lot of Imperial Assault but what I did play was a blast and I immediately bought the Hoth expansion. I'm glad that even though they aren't making new stuff that you can still find the old expansions and things.
Imperial Assault is such a great game. I play solo and beyond the FFG app the community has made so many great companion programs that keep me coming back. Highly recommend if you have the money.
I don't play Imperial Assault but, I appreciate that since there are people that still love it and play it, that there's hope for more content for the game👍
Just got in to it in January... Years ago I saw this game but had no one to play it with. A friend of a friend invited me to play and it this year and it was cool! Then I found out about the App and play solo right now. I Went and bought it! I have been painting the minis and loving it! I do hope it does not vanish soon...
I am so close to owning the entire game. Most exciting is the Imperial Assault Continuity Project. A very professionally run fan made community that is constantly adding characters and content. Look up IACP. Lots of 3d printing community members also for sweet options like Mando and the child.
Have not played through all content i own…which is not even half of what’s available. And have never played skirmish. But love the game, and always look forward to getting it on the table
Even if they didn't add another boxed expansion, I was always hoping for more campaigns (using the tiles from the previous expansions). I've played through all the expansions except for Tyrants of Lothal. Yet.
Trying to figure out the various tabletop Star Wars games and Imperial Assault has me intrigued. I bought a couple blister packs but wondered, if I only did one game, should I go down the Legion path instead. This video (and others on this channel) swayed me towards just diving in with Imperial Assault.
Imperial Assault is a very cool game. I don't have everthing, but I did manage to acquire a second core set when a game store had them on clearance for $70usd. I've only played the game once in skirmish mode, but have used the mini's and tiles forr other games. Warzone 2nd edition was a big favorite for awhile where Imperials = Bauhaus or the Brotherhood and the Rebels being Capitol. The short lived Terminator Genisys uses almost all of the figures with just a little imagination. In an ad-hoc 40k tournament (Yes, they happen), Imperials became the Space Marine Chapter, the 715th, the Kamino Cloners. I came in 3rd out of 8. I've thad stormtroopers wiped out by zombies, terminators and angry civilians. Rebel troops and heroes have battled stormtoopers while fighting zombies, lost to dinosaurs while fighting with Mal Reynolds over a job (it belonged to the Rebels), and joined with a famous starship crew to conquer nasty aliens. I even found 1 rebel trooper at a garage sale in a $0.25 bin. You had to see me explaining to the woman running it what it was from and asking if they had more. As most of her stuff was geared to small children, she had a blank stare. I love Imperial Assault and have never regretted the many purchases I have made to acquire it. I wish it was still being expanded on.
IA was my first FFG love. I played it so much and I have every expansion. I have not played it all and haven’t played it much since buying into legion. It’s an amazing game. The campaigns are especially awesome!
The absolute best thing about this game is that it's still in print and easily accessible. It's tiring seeing these highly heralded games that are only $200+ on ebay.
I have everything for it still haven’t played all of it. There’s still tournaments in the uk for skirmish and an annual one at the uk games expo, which happened this past weekend. Unfortunately didn’t get to enter this year :( Also agree that a final “endor” box would of perfectly completed the game for me.
i’ve never considered imperial assault because i’m more of a clone wars era fan and i didn’t think it would be that fun to just play OT era characters. however i had no idea about the app support, and i play tabletop games (even legion thanks to the ai system) solitaire. now i’m itching to get a box and start a campaign!!
The fact that I got the core box yeeears ago but just purchased General Weiss’ pack last month speaks tons about the support this gets from reprints. Would I like to see more content? Certainly! But I still have a bunch of small packs to catch up, so I’d rather they kept reprinting those instead of a new edition that discontinues the current content (like Descent).
What’s great about IA is that it’s 2 games in one. You have the campaign/skirmish and a jigsaw puzzle with the map tiles. Jokes aside this game is fantastic
I happened upon a very good sized collection that was even painted up very nicely. I do admit I’m hoping for more later on, but there is already a LOT available.
I played all Imperial Assault, back and forth, multiple times (9 campaigns play). I played a lot of skimirshes (~200 games). I still have some missions to run out of the 136 official missions. Im not asking for more, as by the time I was done with my last campaign, I could go back and replay the old ones...:) And just a couple of homebrew characters and the fanmade app makes for another run!
I just got a core set and my first small box expansion right before this announcement was made. I almost prefer to go for complete games with “collectible” or “expandable” games like this so that there is a finite amount of expansions that I need to get to enjoy the total experience. I did the same with Star Trek Fleet Captains, got the base game and both expansions in one purchase.
well, to be hopeful (rebellions are built on hope, after all), if imperial assault is considered a complete game, this could be a good thing if they are making an imperial assault second edition.
I honestly was considering getting rid of my collection(not a whole lot but the base game and some individual heroes) but my girlfriend recently showed interest and that is enough of a reason to playthrough it again. The skirmish mode is what got me INTERESTED in the game but im not sure I’d have an opponent around that would feel like building a squad before starting the game
Would love some DLC for the companion app. Love this game, invested a ton of time painting the minis for it and Im still not finished. I only JUST finished the Hoth campaign after owning this game for years
I have my suspicion that they were planning on doing a new version of Imperial Assault based on the Descent: Legends of the Dark game (which some people call Descent 3rd edition despite FFG saying that it isn't) which was announced at the virtual Gencon 2020 event. I don't think that that game did as well as they had hoped, though. That would explain, at least in my mind, why they had a change in plans regarding Imperial Assault.
I quit playing and buying around the time Jabba's came out. It just wasn't hitting the table anymore. But, when I started to notice items out of stock everywhere, I had to grab a copy of JP... just in case. I will continue to buy more as I find them for good prices.
Excited to hear about this. I think knowing that it is a complete game I will probably just grab the core set and be content. Love the rabbit hole Legion got me down but don’t want to shell out more cash to something else.
Be nice to see you maybe play some games of this, I'm still on the fence weather to get this or not with having legion, so would be nice to see some games played
I bought Imperial Assault on a big discount but ended up paying full price for Jabba's Palace because it has my two favorite characters and some cool units. Also, I bought Boba Fett because I always get Fett.
Darn, I was quite comfortable on the fence, thinking about buying the game but not clicking the button. Now, I’m waiting for a package to arrive from Amazon and adjusting my budget to accommodate for expansions.
I still have the full game (except for all the extra game mats). The campaign is great but I found the skirmish games more fun. I never did get into the IACP but someday...
If they released a Mandalorian/book of boba fett with small box expansions (mando, Finnic, Cad Bane, old fett, Bo Katan, grogu, IG-88 medical, Cara Dune, the list goes on) they’d easily make several mil lol
I finally Managed to get Last blister expansions, wich is a real pain (If you wanna get it in German) But it was totally worth it. Playing it Classic with Friends and Coop with the Kids is Always fun and together with the xwing stuff a great Addition for Pen and Paper. So yeah some new stuff would be nice but even without there is plenty of stuff to do with the Game.
For now I'm happy that they're focussing on developing just a couple of games (legion, x wing, etc). Don't want them to bite off more than they can chew!
We are still playing Imperial Assault, currently on our 3rd campaign. Was hoping they would announce the development of a clone wars era version of Imperial Assault with an all new core box.
This!
That would be pretty sweet.
Look up star wars shatterpoint!
I don't know if it has been mentioned yet, but the Imperial Commander 2 app has brought this game back to life for me. It lets you play through the book campaigns in a digital format similar to the official app, which allows single players to finally experience that side of the game.
is this in the ios app store? Sounda amazing.
Yeah where is this?
Yeah I just started a campaign with it and it's awesome to play the book campaigns rather than the stripped-down official app campaigns.
Im just glad they're still reprinting it. Makes you wonder, though, if Asmodee didn't take over FFG, would we have gotten more stuff?
Imperial Assault is probably my favourite FFG star wars game. I love the original characters they created. CT-1701 was the coolest Hero they made. There is continuous new content for skirmish via the Imperial Assault Continuity Project (IACP).
Hands down a great game & the single best family gaming experiences I've had: DM'ing campaigns with the kids and cranking up their excitement over the rounds is a magical experience and provides so many moments to reflect upon. I have played through three of the campaigns in order and I really enjoyed them
I had such good memories with this game from High School, I definitely need to buy into it to bring to college!
I just bought this for Prime Day! Very excited to play..
I have almost every copy of descent and was thinking of selling and swaping to this. Good video, it's nice to know this is still in production.
Just got in to it in January... Years ago I saw this game but had no one to play it with. A friend of a friend invited me to play and it this year and it was cool! Lot's of good memories playing shadow collective campaign. So many great characters in IA that haven't made it to legion yet
I actually just acquired this one and am looking forward to trying it out.
Imperial Assault is a very cool game. I don't have everthing, but I did manage to acquire a second core set when a game store had them on clearance for $70usd.

Just finished my second campaign last weekend, it is a really fun game to play with some friends.
Me and my group always love this game! Such a good game still
Haven’t seen much about this game, thank you for sharing!
IA was my first FFG love. I played it so much and I have every expansion. I have not played it all and haven’t played it much since buying into legion. It’s an amazing game. The campaigns are especially awesome!
Love your channel. I own almost all the imperial assault products. This game has inspired a lot of my gaming hobbies.
The absolute best thing about this game is that it's still in print and easily accessible. It's tiring seeing these highly heralded games that are only $200+ on ebay.

Love the fact this game has a co-op play.

I almost bought this game right as Legion was becoming big. Ultimately went with Legion, but this game still holds a lot of interest for me.
I happened upon a very good sized collection that was even painted up very nicely. I do admit I’m hoping for more later on, but there is already a LOT available.
I wound love to see imperial assault but with clone wars
Great game, I must have around 30-40 games under my belt, so much content I've yet to play. One day I'll get back to it.
it's a complete game at the moment but that can change
I played all Imperial Assault, back and forth, multiple times (9 campaigns play). I played a lot of skimirshes (~200 games). I still have some missions to run out of the 136 official missions. Im not asking for more, as by the time I was done with my last campaign, I could go back and replay the old ones...:) And just a couple of homebrew characters and the fanmade app makes for another run!
Where can i get this Game?? No stock on Amazon
I’m new to this game. Thanks for the video.
I just got a core set and my first small box expansion right before this announcement was made. I did the same with Star Trek Fleet Captains, got the base game and both expansions in one purchase.
Just started playing again, not yet tried the main campaign just skirmish but it is still my favourite of all the Star Wars games.
Thank you for sharing the info
well, to be hopeful (rebellions are built on hope, after all), if imperial assault is considered a complete game, this could be a good thing if they are making an imperial assault second edition.
I still have (and still play) IA today. Great to throw down on the coffee table and skirmish with the Mrs!
I've played a few times and TO'd a couple of tournaments too. I'd love to get my own copy at some point!
Would love some DLC for the companion app. Love this game, invested a ton of time painting the minis for it and Im still not finished. I only JUST finished the Hoth campaign after owning this game for years
I won a copy at a con, but haven't played it yet. Seems cool. I'm starting to collect the rest of the expansions so once I do ay it, I have it all.
I have my suspicion that they were planning on doing a new version of Imperial Assault based on the Descent: Legends of the Dark game (which some people call Descent 3rd edition despite FFG saying that it isn't) which was announced at the virtual Gencon 2020 event. Amazing video, my gf and I just bought the game and love it so far
This is such a great game. I've enjoyed the hell out of it and still have content to get to.
Excited to hear about this. I think knowing that it is a complete game I will probably just grab the core set and be content. Love the rabbit hole Legion got me down but don’t want to shell out more cash to something else.
Be nice to see you maybe play some games of this, I'm still on the fence weather to get this or not with having legion, so would be nice to see some games played
my buddy has the core box and another mini. i should get him another. where there any convention exclusives?
I loved this game.
How much and which gamegenic sleeve used (color/size) for the whole game? thank you all
I think the logical future for IA, if there is one, is a reboot in the prequel era like they did with Legion.
Just got the game and I’m stunned that the ally/villain packs do not allow you to use characters as hero characters eg in campaign.
That's a bit disappointing. With all the new SW shows and movies there is so much scope for new stuff. You really want Mando in this game.
At least you can get Bobba Fett
I bought Imperial Assault on a big discount but ended up paying full price for Jabba's Palace because it has my two favorite characters and some cool units. Also, I bought Boba Fett because I always get Fett.
I wish I had more people to play this with. I own a lot of it and have played the first two missions twice. 😢
IMO, still the best crawler from FFG and one of the best crawlers you can play actually.
Have you seen Din Djarin and Grogu on the asmodee store for legion?
Darn, I was quite comfortable on the fence, thinking about buying the game but not clicking the button. Now, I’m waiting for a package to arrive from Amazon and adjusting my budget to accommodate for expansions.
Always wanted to play this!
I’ve always wanted to play a game of imperial assault, maybe I should pick it up.
Awesome channel! Keep up the great work!
Imperial assault looks really dope
Man I've always looked at this game and thought it looked so cool
I still have the full game (except for all the extra game mats). The campaign is great but I found the skirmish games more fun. I never did get into the IACP but someday...
Your Legion videos are great, for a future video can you do a updated "what to buy paints/brushes, glues, snipers" video
Got it but only played a few games but want all the expansions
fear leads to anger…anger leads to hate…hate leads to suffering. 😢😢😢😢
I’ve had several characters and core game. I can never decide what else to buy. Definitely should buy more things from IA
If they released a Mandalorian/book of boba fett with small box expansions (mando, Finnic, Cad Bane, old fett, Bo Katan, grogu, IG-88 medical, Cara Dune, the list goes on) they’d easily make several mil lol
They need to reprint some of the stuff for it that is hard to get, or make a complete edition that has everything in it.
I finally Managed to get Last blister expansions, wich is a real pain (If you wanna get it in German) But it was totally worth it. Playing it Classic with Friends and Coop with the Kids is Always fun and together with the xwing stuff a great Addition for Pen and Paper. So yeah some new stuff would be nice but even without there is plenty of stuff to do with the Game.
man I still haven't tried this game yet been all MCP and Legion focused latey
So I had no idea there is an app for this game. Any idea how much it costs and how to get it?
Love the campaign but only played the core campaign so far. Have played a ton of skirmish and still playing on Vassal and in person
Never got into IS. Looks cool though.
Agree, still great.
It would be interesting to know the reason why Asmodee is considering IA as a complete game. Apparently it is still selling well.
For now I'm happy that they're focussing on developing just a couple of games (legion, x wing, etc). Don't want them to bite off more than they can chew!
IA stayed with FFG while X-Wing, legion are with atomic mass games so it wouldn’t be pulling resources
I'd love to give this game a go sometime 🤞
