She doesn't leave (in the song)! The last line "i sit and watch you" shows she actually stays. She also keeps the song in present tense as she still tolerates it. Makes it even sadder in my opinion! Love the taylor reactions always
i saw someone interpret it as the entire thought process in the song going through her head in that bookended moment where she sits and watches, contemplating whether or not she'll stay or leave. i gotta say, i love that interpretation, that she's considering it or at least creeping closer to confronting the issue bit by bit
she's still pondering, basically that's the whole song, she's lost in her thoughts during a moment, then after she fantasizes about what she might do, she "wakes up" from her fantasy and she's watching him
I was always curious on how folklore/evermore could've worked if shed had a dedicated tour since all those songs are so mellow and slower paced and now I know, it just would've been a night of fucking theater 😂😭. Seriously, I cried
@@QuestionableLifeChoices Yes! Those eras were amazing live. She could totally make Folklore into a musical with the story arc that’s behind it and I’d eat it up.
I’ve always loved this song, from the first time I heard it, but seeing it live gave me a whole other level of appreciation, it was stunning! I was literally left speechless at how beautiful and raw and full of emotion that performance was!
the character she wrote probably didn't leave her partner in this song. my interpretation is that the last line "i sit and watch you" means nothing has changed from the beggining of the song (which also starts with the same line). in the bridge she says "why would you do if I break free and leave us in ruins [...] believe me I could do it" so she spent a lot of time wondering if she should leave him, but didn't actually do it.
In hindsight, after you’re losing me and bejeweled, I think it might be about Joe🫣 even the lyric about him being older and wiser, while that’s not exactly true, she says in peace that she basically feels inferior to him… while you were out building other worlds where was I…. And now we know she felt like she was almost imprisoned in the relationship. Like she didn’t have her voice😢 I’m excited for tortured poets to get more details for sure
Ugh, this song gets me in the feels, even more than so many of her others. 😭😭 It's like she was writing what my last relationship was like. Together for 5 years... engaged 2 of those years, married for 11 months... then I told him I needed to talk about our "fucked up marriage." Well, he wasn't IN LOVE with me, he was tolerating it. I left that night to stay in a hotel, filed for divorce the next day, and moved out the 3rd day after. ☹️ Still loving your Swift Sundays! 🫶 Thanks for always making me laugh! 👏👏
wow, I can't even imagine what that must feel like. I'm so sorry you had to experience that. To leave and end it right when you found out is so incredible strong. I'm glad you did what was best for you. How are you doing now? Hope everything is going alr!☺❤
Jeremiah ❤️ your one of I kind! I get what you’re saying. Taylor is an amazing person, and people should want to be around her because of that. She should never have to feel that she’s tolerated. She (and everyone else) deserves better than this!
Y’all need to go see the Eras Tour Concert film. It was absolutely phenomenal and you get to watch and up close and personal view of the performance to this song.
I’ve always thought of it as, her interests and the things she likes most about herself don’t interest him but he puts up with it “for her.” Which he will then give himself credit for as if he’s doing their relationship a favor.
Watching the reaction videos of men it’s very obvious that it takes them longer to understand what she’s talking about. Almost all women got the picture before the first chorus because it happens to us all the time.

The song is inspired by book called Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier (I read it because of this haha, it's not bad). I would say that it's inspired mostly by the beginning (potetnionally the end because the first chapter is basically from the future), because otherwise the story is going somewhere else, but you can literally see which sentences inpired which lyrics (obviously not all of them haha, only few of them). Obviously there is something from Taylor's life, she said it in an interview, that she related tothe character, because she's been there at some point in her life. I feel like the most heartbreaking part of this song (even tho the bridge is insane) is the fact that she doesn't leave. The last line her just sitting and watching him says that.
And yes I left his ass and got full custody of our daughters. They want nothing to do with him. My last name was Archer....which is why ya get the song Archer....❤ thanks for the love guys!!!

God especially the first performance after the breakup. That was rough to watch
Same it was amazing live
is a masterpiece
Agreed! I was in awe watching it live
Same for me. 100%. This song damn near kills me.

Yep ! Also the clouds moving in reverse symbolised her going back the start point, imo ^^

The curly haired guy looks like Patrick Mahones ..and blonde dude Travis Kelce😂 This is gold
One of my favorites. Such great storytelling
one of my favorite performances at the ers tour,
Boys we need more Swift Sunday content!!! I WAS WAITING FOR DAYS/WEEKS 😢🎉
this is one very well written song. based on the book Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, hope spelling is correct. sad but oh so fng good.
Taylor actually got the inpiration for this song from a book called "Rebeca" that has this plot. Shes a genius
oh wow, I didn't know that! I read it in high school and genuinely hated it...wondering if I need to re-read it over ten years later now.
I love this song! I clicked so fast

Need to watch the live eras tour performance ❤️
U guys remind me of these twins I used to watch at daycare. Jeremiah and Elijah with an older brother cameron
Please listen to Hits Different next. You’ll love it

Please react to the era''s tour version. So much better live
more taylor’s react plsss
Remember these are just stories.
It is said she wrote it about Prince Charles and Diana. She had watched a program about them.

i love folklore❤
It’s evermore actually
@@Lucas-up9lj lmfao my bad

Not every song is about love relationship
Dude there’s no turn. It just takes you two verses to get it.
Most of the songs from both her folklore and evermore albums are made up actually ! But in a way relate to what’s she’s felt in the past.
