OMG this just changed my life (jokes aside this was very useful thankyou soo much!!!!! it was an easy process and solved a problem that could had taken hours into seconds for me)
Hi, Thank you for the video. Unfortunately I didn't work for me, I get the following message in red at the end "At least one output file must be specified " and a message in yellow saying "Trailing option(s) found in the command: may be ignored.". Can you please help ?
when i try to convert multiple folders it only converts one folder at a time because all the files in the other folders have the same file name therefore it asked to overwrite the existing file that was converted already... thoughts or ideas on how to convert multiple folders with the same file names within?
This video helped me tremendously. Is there additional comand one could add for the batch conversion part where it will delete the mkv file once it's been converted?
Check the double quote symbol. My keyboard only puts curly quotes, you need straight quotes. Try typing your string in Libre Writer and substitute the curlies for straight quote, then copy and paste into the terminal. Hope this helps.

For future readers: this is a copy operation so if the sound format wasn't aac it probably failed there, you could try using -ffmpeg -i input.avi -acodec mp3 -vcodec copy output.mp4 That would re-encode the audio but keep video settings as it changes containers to mp4
Didn't work... " 'ffmpeg' is not a recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file" Error message Edit: Nevermind apperantly I had to transfer the executeable around for it to work.
Command line transcoding as you put it or in this case just changing the container (.mkv to .mp4) with ffmpeg is 100x faster than using an app. Its trick to setup and use but when you have over a thousand movies then ... This is the way... I used this to get all my movies in Plex from .mkv to .mp4 which made my Plex run super smooth and helped stop buffering when all my friends streamed my movies remotely in 4K. But I get what your saying "Isn't there an app for that?" Yes but they take foooooooorrrevvvverrrr.
You're not expected to. You found your own way here, you aren't being forced into this method. If you want to keep doing things the sub-optimal way, you're more than welcome to
I have no idea what I just did, but it works! Thank you! I'm so happy that I now don't have to wait hours anymore to convert an mkv into an mp4 file
Perfect video! Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much!

Hi I'm getting a: zsh: parse error near "/R" . Using ffmpeg on Silicon Mac FYI. regular -c copy works just not the batch.

Worked perfectly. Thanks!
Can this command compress video file size?
This was a lifesaver!!! Thank you❤
how do i make it so that files that already are mp3 are overwritten automatically? without typing y for every one of them? with your code
Thanks so much for this video!
Thanks for the video. Do you have the ffmpeg command for normalizing the audio in mp4, or mkv files? Thanks again.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! A VERY DIDACTIC VIDEO, THANKS A LOT!
How weird, nothing happens at all when I do this. No error, no output, just moves on to the next command line entry string.

Why is there no audio on the mp4 file :(

Or just add the path to it in your system variables.

my brother in christ i appreciate the efforts but you sure did overcomplicate stuff
