Im an ancestor of Auður Djúpúðga Ketilsdóttir. She hadent any celtic ancestry in fact she was the second generation of scandinavian vikings who settled britain from norway. Though we in Iceland have up to 30% genes from irish scottish and Anglosaxon because of the slaves we brought to Iceland. For a time she was an Irish viking princess.

    Aud pronounced as Ode?
Who decided to skip the language consultant? Au is a diphthong: a short unstressed a - like the a in about - the u is a long oo as in Scottsh good- all ending up in an unstressed d
In "oseberg" all the vowels are pronounded, none of them s a diphthong. To be fair, the closed long o at the beginning is one of those sounds that don’t really exist in English. But the unstressed short first e cannot be omitted (the se sounds close to se in second).
    BBC should try harder.

The woman they called Aud in this presentation appears in other Icelandic sagas as 'Unn the Deepminded.'

She also never had any daughters, just one son. The girls she married off were her granddaughters. If I'm not mistaken, two of her brothers were already in Iceland when she arrived, she stayed with one and then the other when it didn't work out.

Is this supposed to be comedy? I thought this channel was about facts and truth? Seems to be posted in the wrong channel.
