It's probably shattered due to whatever the material the glass sits on get shrunk overtime, and put too much pressure on the glass. It's probably designed to shatter similar to a car windshiel. After you remove all the broken glasses, it should be safer to use now. Extenstending the hose from the tank to the burners is very smart, and I would never place the burner on top of the tank... good luck... 😃
It’s had happened to me back in 10 years ago, my kitchen stove’s blown up with no reason and no bodies got hurt, the stove’s name is kenmore, so be careful.
