Swimming is a life skill and should be taught to ALL children. In some countries it is required to be taught in school (with licensed instructors of course). It is so important.
when I learned to swim some people commented that i was 'too small for swimming lessons' I was at the required age and my mom put me in the classes because i was small and could not reach the bottom even on the shallow end and she wanted me to be able to get to the sides at least.
@@Ihrlutschtdochalle it depends on where you live i say, in the Netherlands there are a lot of places with water, canals etc. so yea being able to swim to at least reach the shore is a necessity
@@Ihrlutschtdochalle We don't qualify as a land-bound species. The fact we can learn to swim (and dive!) at all, naturally, ensures that. Maybe you never learnt to swim, but it's very arrogant to think no one can have skills if you don't lol
@@raerohan4241 so maybe you didn't read my comment properly. I actually told you that it's a "good skill to learn", but it isn't essential. And of course we are land bound, how else would we be able to breath the oxygen out of air, but not under water ?😂😂😂🤣 Before i forget it, i can swim, but it's quite interesting how you project problems you have on to other people 😂
@@Alexa-p1eI'm 13 as well and just recently learned how to swim but I'm not very good at it or very confident in it. Just know you're not the only one having trouble here.
I taught kids swimming lessons starting when i was 14 years old. Loved those littke kids. Shout out to red cross for supporting these important lessons.
i love these videos that you make about her swimming classes- as a WSI our main focus is water safety and it’s VERY important to spread the word about how it’s never to early or too late to start survival swim classes. you never know what kind of predicament you could end up in one day!
This WORKS!!! My Mom did similar with me as a baby & I ended up competitive swimming & lifeguarding. Breaks my heart when I see people afraid of the water!!!
@@alziedownes1955 🤗🤗🤗I do totally understand! I mean it’s a completely rational fear AND yet there are natural ways we are designed to move in the water that can help to dissuade that fear & we can have fun✌️🥰
My baby just started ISR today. She's 6 months. ♡ And I just want to know that we are all safe around water and for her to have more opportunities like life guarding, surfing... whatever she would like without fear of it
My first memory is of drowning. I was about 1.5 years old, but I actually remember a lot about that day. My mom was shocked when I asked her about it because I wasn't sure if it was a dream or what. My mom had worked for the public pools in our city for several years. She started as a life guard, gave swim lessons, and a slew of other tasks. That day I remember she told me that she was giving private swimming lessons and we drove to some nice houses a city away. I remember it was a hot summer day and wanted to climb into the pool. She has taken me"swimming" before, so I thought I'd be ok. Everyone was done with their swim lesson and going inside. I went on the top step of the pool and remember slipping into the water. I was thrashing around but saw the pool cover was sliding into place and tried to scream while staying afloat. Thankfully someone found me, but I had nightmares about the pool cover closing over me for years after. Long story short, ISR is underrated.
i did this with my boys...this is the best thing you can do with your infants especially if you live in the south where water /ponds, pools, creeks are part of life..
Every child should go through this course to better prepare them for the possibility of drowning. I watched Granger and Emily Smith put their son Mavie through this after losing their son River to drowning at age 3. I can’t imagine their hearts watching Mavie struggle in water after finding their son River lifeless but now at least Mav has a chance of survival. I applaud u for allowing your child to do this course and btw she’s soooooo adorable ❤️🥰❤️!!!
AMAZING training.. you can start too young. It’s natural to be able to float! Invested in a pool. Taught my kids watersafety & to my daycare kiddo’s. All are not afraid of water all can float & swim now❤🏊♀️
It never really occurred to me before that babies will naturally float! Fatter bodies float and leaner bodies sink, so a healthy baby should float! of course, being able to orient yourself to get on your back facing upward is a skill
Shes getting so good!❤❤Anyways (Day 19 of asking) If you get the chance, Do you think you could smash black berry's on both of your stain proof couches? If you can't do you think you could do it on one of them?
Wow, I wish they had this in Canada. I tried teaching her myself, but she is saucier with me then she is other people, they have an obedience quota for momma 😭
It's scary for me to do a front flip/black flip in a pool, she's doing okay now.. But what trips me out is how can you teach a child to swim that you haven't even gotten taught how potty trained yet? I get it's a good skill to learn, especially when you have a pool or a lake in or around your property. But why not wait til these babies really understand why they need to learn something so traumatic and scary but beneficial. Especially to a lil person that can't communicate, that this is traumatizing. I saw a adult that couldn't swim just jump in a pool. He decided he would learn when he was ready. It's a less stressful experience when you want or ready to learn. I don't understand ppl who have pools with little ones that won't get the best protection to make sure they're children don't drown. Paying for safety with a dangerous purchase is more important than just the luxury item.
This is so much better! When I was 8 months old my sister’s swim coach literally threw me in the pool and they waited for me to float to the surface. Needless to say I developed some trauma before becoming a swimmer
Omg my mom also almost drowned so i understand why you are making your kids learn how to swim. I knew how to swim when i was 6 years old and im still so scared thinking of what would happen if my mom died from drowning, she was very little also when she almost drowned.
This is amazing but 1 thing i was thinking about was what if she falls into water where it just burns your eyes and you cant open them bit still this is so amzing i definitely had a drowning scare and its so good to get kids to be able to help themself
It’s such an important thing to teach little ones ❤
Your so right, they really do need to learn this things
THEIR TOO YOUNG THEY BARELY EVEN KNOW WHAT WATER IS

It's really good your teacher your daughters especially at a young age how to swim safely. Your a wonderful mother for doing this.
