    When I was around 10, we were on vacation, and turned around in RFK's driveway. Him and his kids was playing football in the front yard.

    12:49 That statement struck hard. I find myself sadly nodding in agreement. When a politician and a moralist can not coincide. "Lyndon Johnson was a politician who could get bills passed into law because he understood how ✌ the system ✌ worked. Bobby Kennedy was a moralist. He didnt like the politicians that did the backroom deals" 11:57 to 14:20 re-listening to this part would explain even then how the country was ran. How could they be for the people when they feel the need to play these games is just? This is more of an observation. Not much I can do other than do my best to not be like that. Peace all 🕊🙏⚘️🐾

    This was moving and inspiring. But, sadly, it was naive and unconvincing in important respects to someone as well informed as I am about the history of that time (I was 21 when JFK was killed, and when the import of that finally sank in, I felt, and have ever since, that with that death an unbridgeable chasm opened in US history, after which nothing would ever be the same: 1) The doc. ignores the mess that was the report of the Warren Commission, which was tasked by LBJ to reach a conclusion that would not provoke, from either side, nuclear war w/ the USSR, and was actually run not by Chief Justice Earl Warren but by Allen Dulles, head of the CIA whom JFK had fired after the Bay of Pigs fiasco in 1961; and the doc. overlooks the overwhelming evidence that JFK was killed at the behest of the mafia and rogue elements of the CIA and US military. 2) The reasons for the conspiracy were JFK's 180o turn re issues such as regularization of our relations w/ Cuba, rapprochement w/ the USSR, a negotiated peace in Europe, and further steps toward reduction in nuclear srockpiles after the 1963 limited test-ban treaty. 3) Much as I admire Oliver Stone's movie "JFK," which got almost everything right, I feel he was dead wrong in an important way: LBJ was not the big sponsor of that conspiracy. Though he felt he had to continue and even expand our misguided commitment to stop communism in Vietnam, he never liked the war, and was actually close to a peace deal w/ North Vietnam when Nixon won the '68 election and contrived ways, legal and illegal, to prolong the war. Nixon was one of the few US adults who claimed, at first, not to recall where he was on 11/22/63; later amending that to say he was attending a meeting of the Pepsico Bd. of Directors, though that had actually occurred on 11/21/63. Nixon was a mafia stooge, hired after answering a want-ad placed by Sam Giancana for someone willing to run for office in 1946, which he did, joining the House of Representatives in the same year as JFK. One of the first people Nixon hired after taking office was mafioso Jacob Rubinstein, later known as Jack Ruby. 4) This doc. also ignores the overwhelming evidence--much of it removed from the Ambassador Hotel by the LAPD and later "lost," that many more shots were fired in the hotel pantry than were in the gun fired by Sirhan Sirhan (who has always said he doesn't recall shooting but was convinced he must have for the same reasons everyone else was). Moreover, Thomas Noguchi, the LA coroner who did the autopsy on RFK, reported that the shot fatal to RFK was fired into the back of his head from a distance of 2"-3" and traveled upward, a shot physically impossible for SIrhan to have done. The fatal sho was probably fired by Thane Caesar, a nniwly hired hotel security guard, who carried a revolver and admitted to drawing it when shooting started but said he never fired it. I am only scratching the surface here. RFK (like his brother) wasn't just one of the greatest presidents we might have had; he, like his brother, was taken from us by the criminal and oligarchic forces who actually rule in this country.

    Someone else earlier said it better than me but this is a "what if..." exercise only. Who knows how civil rights or Vietnam, for example, would have shaped his presidency?? When you are not in power it is easy to promise the people everything they want, immediately, but when you sit in the big chair it's never as simple as you told everyone it would be to change the USA fundamentally.

    • @peanut1001x
      @peanut1001x หลายเดือนก่อน

      JFK was warned & told not to ride in an open top car but JFK said he wanted to be seen. JFKs back brace meant he couldn’t drop down into the bottom of the car like LBJ behind him did. JFK didn't need to die then.

  • @mikealvord55
    @mikealvord55 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    This title irritates me. He might have been a good president he might not have. There’s a debate out there whether RFK would have won, but he was just as flawed as any other candidate. Just because he didn’t win and has been romanticized does mean he was America’s lost president anymore than MIT Romney, or JohnMcCain. I’m a JFK fan but do you really think the Kennedys could withstand the scrutiny of the 1980-90s press. You look at the can assassination sites and people have rose colored glasses on. RFK- it’s not dirty tricks for a candidate to bring up hidden ailments as you say.. the other things about RFK you worked for McCarthy, he didn’t leave because of some difference in he left because he couldn’t advance, bugging Martin Luther King, running interference for JFK and his affairs may having one himself with Marilyn Monroe. And don’t believe for a minute Johnson couldn’t pass the civil act without RFK. It took LBJ to get that passed, the Johnson treatment.

    • @KevinN-df8eo
      @KevinN-df8eo 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very well said. This type of rose tinted vision was the same for his brother. It's the James Dean effect. All 3 died young, tragically, and it seems people ignored their flaws and put them on pedestals. A good doc but a bit pointless as it is the "what if..." game. Nothing is guaranteed in this life, except death and taxes.

    All that citizens want is peace and love😢😢😢😢why can't all citizens in the world embrace it and work together? We have the new world order coming for us; Klaus Swaup cartel made themselves boss of the world; no citizens voted for destruction of countries and livelihoods of citizens 😢

  • @kevinjones8929
    @kevinjones8929 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    This is factually incorrect. LBJ did not need RFK to get the civil rights bill passed. He did that himself. It was LBJs war on poverty, not rfks.
