    SOAKING WET TIP: When you have a plant that is clearly overwatered, I often find that standing it on several layers of kitchen roll (or something similar) helps to wick moisture from the pot, provided the pot and kitchen roll are in good contact. Replacing regularly as and when required speeds up the process.

    • @martinanemcokova917
      @martinanemcokova917 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      AlmostBipedal I do that too. If the plant starts yellowing, I remove the plant from the soil and put it in water.

    Thank you so much for sharing your extensive knowledge, Kaylee. I feel like plant sellers should include a short little “tip” sheet like this in their plant orders! Maybe not a physical one but in an email with a client’s order. Of course you hope your client to have a bit of knowledge or experience with plants, but not all do and I feel like a lot of bad reviews or unhappiness with “businesses” is more often the buyer’s more limited ability to care for the plant properly than the seller shipping a “bad” plant. It’s not to say the latter doesn’t happen.
    Anyway, this video was extremely helpful and I’m so grateful for it! Thank you. I just got a verrucosum in the mail and have been stressed about keeping it alive while it acclimates and this makes me feel so much better.
    PS the flow chart is definitely not unnecessary. SO necessary! THANK YOU!!!!

    I made a noob move and potted up my Gloriosum into a pot that was too big for it, so it's been on a recovery journey from serious rot. I ended up having to hack off all the roots and am now propagating the roots from scratch in water.
    So I'm re-habbing my plant from...myself hehe 😅
    But it's on the up and up!! We have root growth now :D

    The thing is, people love the plants so much and are so eager to give it the best looking pot, best soil, best sunlit location, feed it fertilizer etc... we end up killing it with love.
    The trick is always to space them out, one thing every 2 weeks. However I understand that doing this this will cause another love sickness... over watering.

    I ordered some plants before a heat wave. Had no idea one was coming. Plants came by 2 different carriers. One carrier was on point, the other experienced several exceptions. As a result 2 plants arrived damaged, one with burned tips and another with brown spots everywhere. I know it was the excess heat from being in transit longer than expected and a surprise heatwave. It sucks but I wouldn’t dream of contacting the seller, doesn’t have anything to do with them. For the Americans, USPS is always on point, UPS not so much. The USPS plants survived the heatwave with zero damage, UPS not so much.
    Happy this came across my feed, just in time because I’ve got 2 lovely plants on my hands that are NOT happy!

    I would add: ISOLATE your new plants, especially if you're not repotting and inspecting the roots. You never know if you're bringing in powdery mildew, a virus, mites, mealies, etc, and you don't want your established healthy plants exposed to anything like that.

    Thanks so much for this video! I went absolutely plant mama crazy and bought a philodendron brule-marx, a philo bipennifolium, a philo red emerald and a raphidora tetrasperma and a monstera adansonii.... all on Sunday evening. Expecting them to come in tomorrow and this vid has been a big help
