yeah PC games tend to have a little more depth... I'm playing a insanely deep sandbox game right now called Kenshi right now which is like a squad based RTS role playing game sandbox, you build a base, you defend it, kind of do whatever you want.

Alternative history is a fancy way of devs saying "we have crammed every gender and race in this era and fucked it up as much as possible because we're cunts :)"
Because let's be honest, we've had "realistic" WWII scenarios for decades now and doing alternate history can be fun, it gives you more freedom, etc. It's just important to label it as such. Without alternate history there would be no Wolfenstein.
@@Diree The 'Alternate history' label is loosely used nowadays, you can't cram women into a ww2 scenario and a few prototype weapons just to achieve that 'alternative' label, Wolfenstein does it correctly, it has backstory and a lore to it, games like this don't.
The women who worked the factories deserve the recognition. Just one of the reasons why they were not on the lines, but instead we have this bs alt history that ignores the roles women played
Women did end up on the frontlines of WW2, but either because the frontline collapsed and they were intended to be support units but ended up with a rifle in their hands (this happened in Poland) or as snipers or tankers in Russia's case (but they too were really desperate). But from what it looks in this game, this is a commando unit behind enemy lines so that would be bonkers.

I honestly don't play most of the games you do videos on, but the game in question isn't why I watch your videos. I watch them because you're entertaining and you make me laugh! Keep it up mack, you could review My Kitchen Rules and I'd still watch that shit.
For me, turn based combat just doesn't work in the small scale. At a large RTS or Civilization type scale, it makes sense, you're like a general or commanding officer who gives commands on the scale of a campaign or battle, they execute them, report back to you with what happened and what the enemy did, then you give another set of commands. In a tiny squad or party, it just doesn't make sense.
I'm waiting for the next Total War game in which you have entire Roman Legions consisting of nothing but women cause who cares about history in a game about historical events. /s

The presence of women in a WW2, military combat zone, if they are not nurses, killed this game for me. I won't bother playing it. I cherish realism over everything else.

I don't, however I do put immersion up, for example many hardcore shooters are not very realistic but they get you to focus because you are having fun (like red orchestra / rising storm, insurgency and on some level r6s), but than I tried project reality and it was boring as fuck! I did not encounter a single person for a long long long time, also I could not spawn on squad members / leaders so It was very uncomfortable, however I do not disreespect Project Reality since it's a game that it's devs put a VERY high investment in, but when I played it I came to realize that I do not like the concept of the most realistic shooter you can find.... But yeah women in these WWII wars kinda ruins the not just the realism but the immersion, because you what both of realizm and immersion have in common is that when you make the war game you at least need to get the details right, and suddenly you see a women in the war... It's not that bad (on the surface level most people don't care, I do slightly care but it won't be a deal breaker to the game), it only becomes a deal breaker when all immersion is ruined like in battlefield V(agina) where they tried to make WWII look like fortnite, just based on the trailer for this game I knew I won't be buying it...

Number 1 change that mack needs to make imo - move the graphical settings part of the review to later. Very few people give a rats about it and it stalls the start of the video a lot imo.
This game is great. I definitely pefer the hand-crafted maps, I don't think the game would be anywhere near as good as it is now if it were procedural.

Giving snipers, thus turning your soldiers in good snipers. Uhm, am I the only one who thinks that there is something wrong with this? Weren't snipers really good shooters but also cold blooded as they'd kill people they'd see through the optics. There was army investigation and research on why only a few percent of the soldiers who fought in WW2 ever fired their guns at the general direction of the enemy and why a small percentage of that group shot to kill. And it was due to that people tend to not want to kill but those who did, were doing it because they wanted to protect their friends and allies. So, not everyone can become a sniper and that is why only a few who do not feel guilty of killing others become snipers. However, after the war, the armies around the world tried to make soldiers more efficient in the killing business by essentially easing them into the act. For example, the targets at the shooting ranges, that were red and white circles, where replaced with human shaped ones that were painted in a way so that they'd look like enemy soldiers.Look up the video: Shoot to Kill by Lindybeige.
I know it is a late comment but what about the weapons you have after swaping to better ones? you cannot sell them.... they are just obsolete and will remain in your inventory forever?
You mentioned in your preview video that you cannot place a guy in the position another guy is sitting in even though you've given that guy an order to move. Maybe I missed it in this review but I didn't hear you mention whether that's still a thing. Thanks!
Mack, try Soviet Republic: Workers and Resources. Imagine resource management of settlers (deeper even) and city planning of sim city. I think you'd like it!

They did just about everything wrong with this game, in my opinion. Using "alternate WW2" as an excuse to shovel in diversity and gender politics is just the beginning. The "we go" combat system is another mistake. Look at all the comments here talking about wanting an "XCOM style WW2 game". All they had to do was basically remake Microprose's Squad Leader from 2000. Even that game had forced diversity in it, but no women. Plus you could play as the Germans too. Then they tacked on some silly RPG storyline, and I wouldn't be looking forward to seeing what kind of narrative they used in that. Even just copying the most recent XCOM games, and slapping a WW2 skin over it would have been better than this.

They did just about everything wrong with this game, in my opinion. Using "alternate WW2" as an excuse to shovel in diversity and gender politics is just the beginning. The "we go" combat system is another mistake. Look at all the comments here talking about wanting an "XCOM style WW2 game". All they had to do was basically remake Microprose's Squad Leader from 2000. Even that game had forced diversity in it, but no women. Plus you could play as the Germans too. Then they tacked on some silly RPG storyline, and I wouldn't be looking forward to seeing what kind of narrative they used in that. Even just copying the most recent XCOM games, and slapping a WW2 skin over it would have been better than this.
