Ten years ago I painted my living room/dining room Apple Green by Benjamin Moore, a similar color to the above green. Designers back then were saying you should never use bright colors in the living room but I went ahead and used it anyway. I loved it, and have kept it ever since.

Thankfully there’s color, today everything is white and chicken wire. I’m a lover of color, having color causes your eye to roam, seeing different things. My husband was born in New Orleans and all of his siblings are still there so it’s a treat to see these homes!

OMG, just seeing this video (watched it 3tx in a row already lol) Too many elements of excitement to mention in this beautifully decorated home. I especially love how Jane Scott Hodges mixed periods/styles to make this Old colonial home connect with guests today. Her decision to incorporate lots of modern art into these traditional spaces is wonderful. Plus, all the custom linens... drop dead gorgeous stuff. FANTASTIC.

Love the courtyard area. Loved the napkins and place mats. Loved the bedding. Loved the blue sofa and the table with the orange chairs. So cute. Loved the lady's dress.

Those are definitely some bold color choices. Makes me appreciate that there is something for everyone in the world of decor and varying tastes. I love all the beautiful monograms and gorgeous linens. What a fun business!
EEN63 the light in the south is strong- it tones it down- believe me.
I grew up in the South (Texas) and my family are all from (Louisiana), but I'm thinking it would take a lot more than strong Southern sun to tone down some of those very bold color choices. Those green walls are seriously beyond bold! But that's perfectly okay! To each his own. Bold colors just don't comfort me like softer, more muted colors and tones. Her kitchen is definitely more to my taste. We're all different and we all have different preferences. And the beauty of design is we can all have whatever makes us happy and comfortable! Just because I don't personally want something, doesn't mean I can't appreciate it... or even not appreciate it. No harm either way.

When monogramming was all the rage in the early 80s I refused to do it. Now I get monogramming on lots of things & love it.
Loved this tour and home!!! I loved hearing her talk!!! While I’m fifth of six generations from Baton Rouge, I grew up in Lexington, Kentucky (hubby’s from Louisiana, as well!!). There’s so much to love about this home and its style!!! Thank you for another wonderful, guided tour!!! ❤️

The double salon's lacquered walls immediately reminded me of Jamie Drake. I love how it morphs according to the amount of light (1:04 and 1:07), it transitions from a dark lime to a brighter hue. And those monograms are simply exquisite.
It's so refreshing to see people that aren't afraid of color in their homes. There's too much beige, white and grey in interior design.

As I was watching this blog of this epitome of the South I could imagine waking up as a guess having eggs benedict, shrimp and grits, and coffee then a little later on mimosas. I think Blanche DuBois might like living here!---I had a hunch the big room downstairs had started out as two rooms: the front and back parlors.---It would be fun to have a monogram. I would have mine on stationery and bookmarks and, being a card player, on a decks of cards. Non-essential but fun!

My only (with love) critique would be - the sound. Mic’s would bring the sound to the level everything else nests at - which is sublime.

The artist who did the butterfly painting, Hunt Slonem, owns Albania, the plantation my mother's family owned since before America was America. I've been there. It is VERY crowded with furniture and art. It was very cool to see portraits of my ancestors there. My mom spent time with her great grandmother there.

Everything I could find says that the plantation was established by Charles Grevemberg, who wasn't born until 1797. The current plantation house dates to the 1840s or 1850s.

I love them but I was raised by a mom who collected embroidery machines. Our horse blankets, saddle pads and finger towels all got monograms! Hint: use a poly thread if you want to be able to bleach those linens.

Does anyone know what paint color and brand is?! I've been looking for this exact shade of chartreuse!! I'm very particular Amanda Nisbett did a room in a similar shade of BM "jalapeno pepper" is this possibly the same shade? If so I'll be running down to get it in the am!

In the UK we call them Bolster Pillows, a double sized pillow.
In France we call them "traversins" , they were everywhere in my childhood , you don't see them much anymore ... I think they frame a bed nicely
