100% Grand Design Imagine!!! I owned a Jayco before we just purchased our new Grand Design and the craftsmanship and quality of products are ten times better in The Grand Design
Hands down The Grand Design Imagine takes this comparison. Just love how it looks and the quality they put in their travel trailers are equivalent to what the do on their higher end bigger TT and fifth wheels. Jayco are nice too but I've rather go with the Grand Design.
Keep in mind that when Jayco makes trailers they might do a Pre-Delivery Inspection of like 1 out of 50 or 1 out of 100 units, Grand Design does a PDI on every single trailer that gets built. Also from what I've heard is that Grand Design was the first company to offer a 3 year warranty and they offered that before they even built their first unit.
Wouldn't an apples to apples comparison look more like a Grand Design Imagine 2800BH vs a Jayco Whitehawk 29BH? Those two are more in direct competition with each other in my opinion. Also, maybe mention more about underbelly and frame design, side wall construction, roof capacity and design. The structural things that have a direct impact on the longevity of the travel trailer. Maybe mention standard equipment like the btu's of the air conditioning, which one is solar prepped vs actually coming solar ready. The little things that add up. Both are big investments so as much information as possible is always appreciated. Initial quality is great but success is ultimately determined by how long the product lasts. How the warranties of each stack up could also be mentioned. All this is just food for thought.
So we just bought the GD 2800 today. When I discussed what would make dry camping better with my wife 5 years ago, GD came through and checked off ALL our requests. Storage is huge, comfort and quality are everywhere. Having a solar panel put on the roof. GL filling your 30lb tanks when I’ll simply swap out my 20lb at the nearest gas station. Looking forward to our first camping adventure in our new GD. Thx for the comparison video.
I don't remember seeing anything about how they compare underneath. I want to know how the frame structure compares, how the suspension compares, and how they are both insulated from debris and cold.
I really liked the way you guys compared the rigs side by side... wish more salesman's would do this... I have the Grand Design Imagine 2800 BH (2019 model) which I like the interior a lot better than the 2020 or 2021... I feel Grand Design is better quality, but I believe it is also more expensive...
I'm really feeling the Jayco. I like the fact that the area around the kitchen isn't walled off so that you can see beyond it from the bedroom. I also like the layout of the Jayco bathroom a little more, and the extra door going into it is a plus. The Jayco also has a great platform in front of the TV plus that cool storage behind it. Just seems roomier.
Both are nice. I ordered the Jayco with farmhouse decor. The wife thought the Grand Design looked outdated on interior. They all have something you want but can't have.🤷♂️
Purchased a 2020 GD 2800BH in March.. This is my 2nd TT. I am amazed at how well this thing was built. The Jaco is a nice product, but GD is the next level in quality.
We currently have a 2016 Jayco 26BH. We absolutely love it, but now our son is getting older and we have two 100 lb dogs. It's getting cramped. We definitely need a slide. I'm really liking the Grand Design 2800BH. The flow seems better. Upgrading to a standard queen with room to walk around would be a dream come true.
We looked and looked at multiple RV manufacturers and chose the Grand Design Reflection 28bh. We are very happy with the design, construction and quality of the rig. We will continue to be Grand Design customers in the future. You can’t really compare RV’s by their components like fridges, stoves, water heaters and so on because they all use the same stuff.
We have had both Jayco and Grand Design, not either of these models though. As others have stated, the Grand Design is far better quality and customer service has been very good. We had a lot of issues with our Jayco, mostly little nitpick things. We had a couple of warranty things with the Grand Design when it was brand new, which were fixed correctly. The drop frame storage bins in the Grand Design are huge, warranties are longer and it is a 4 season trailer. We've camped in snow and desert heat, we absolutely love ours. We had to add 12V outlets for CPAPs, a better mattress and a slide-out awning. Nithing is perfect but this works for us.
@@djinncat I never had a Grand Design, but I owned a 2018 Cougar travel trailer. The Cougar was a terrible travel trailer. I had numerous issues that were corrected, but the deciding factor in getting rid of the Cougar was the slide-out cable system broke. One of the brackets completely tore off from the wall. This occurred while at the dealer for the other repairs. I would have been in serious trouble if I was located in the middle of nowhere as you can not completely close the slide-out. Do not buy any trailer with a cable system. In addition, the Keystone customer service was not helpful and rude.
Grand Design is probably a better built TT overall but Jayco has some better features in my opinion. Jayco has better tires, better out door kitchen and a better bedroom set up imo. Also I'm about 5 min from you guys, Im looking to buy a TT. Let me know when you get the Jayco 24BH or the Eagle 264BHOK in stock so I can come take a look as Im interested in those two models. Thanks
Grand design by a lot. I’m in the market for a travel trailer and I’ve exhausted my search concluding Grand Design is just a better quality coach. You have to consider post purchase service as well. Grand design is committed to taking care of its customers. GO GD
I have the Jayco 27bhb and I absolutely love it. The outdoor kitchen on the Jayco is a lot better designed. Much more room. Plus a paper towel holder! It's the little things sometimes. The kitchen cabinets in the grand design look very dated.
Michael, I just purchased a 2022 Jayco Jay Flight SLX, 264BH. Bought it used a few weeks ago. The original owner bought it in January '22. The Camp Queen was used (mattress still wrapped in plastic) a few times. Nothing else was used in the TT, not even the shower. The original owner paid $30,000. I offered $23,000, and they took it. So far, I have yet to take my maiden voyage with it. I'm impressed with the simplicity of the design and build quality. I'm a first time RV'er.
Hand down Grand design 👌. I own an Imagine 2250rk. The craftsmanship in the grand design is way better than the Jayco believe it or not. And yes they do multiple of pre inspections before and after they get to their destination.
@@WindishRV The Imagine looks much better built. The hidden hinges, the shower curtain, the stainless steel sink, and the beveled mattress corners give me the impression that they put a lot more thought into the customer's needs. Great video!

Grand Design for sure. I have a Jayco and I'm replacing it with a Grand Design. I recently went to a GD dealership and a Jayco dealership. Grand design beats the Jayco in quality and functionality by a mile.
I'll be in the market for a new toy hauler travel trailer in the next 4-5 months. I'll have to come down and check out what you have and do a few walkthroughs. Nice video too, love the comparison you did.
We own the Grand Design 2400BH and rent our RVs. The Grand Design is better built than the Jayco. The quality of the woodwork is unsurpassed. Solid wood doors in the Grand Design rather than thin pieces of laminate wood in the Jayco. Our Grand Design comes back in one piece whereas our other trailers comes back with the the laminate starting to delaminate. Grand Design all the way. In fact our salesman rented our Grand Design for a week and he will only rent Grand Designs.
Both nice . But, Jayco floor Plan better bathroom to outside. Outside grill way better, Jayco uses a metal box rather then wood an counter top materials. Way more lighting inside Jayco both natural and Led. Way more lighting outside trailer in the darkest night. Complete camera prep side markers an backup. 30 amp solar panel on roof for batteries. I looked @ both very closely before purchasing Jayco front A-Frame slides thru front box beam then welded rather then welded to bottom of box frame .When I toured the two plants Jayco uses No OSB wood in their Trailers only Plywood. GD plant has a plant full of OSB board No comparison.
They are. We just bought a 2910BH. It's the newest floorplan. RV Country and Clear Creek (don't go there) have them. We got ours at BlueDog RV in Pasco. B Young in Woodland and Portland. We love it so far.
I'd like to know what you know about the quality of the axles on both and the differences and on the under carriages, is one better than the other for four season camping? Thanks.
As someone with kids, I like the reinforced bunks within the Jayco - nice touch! However, it would have been really nice for these guys to talk more about the warranty and commitment that each company offers their customer; likely one of the most important factors when considering a TT!! My understanding is that GD stands behind their product much more than the Jayco brand (which is Keystone company). The Jayco TT looks pretty good, but Grand Design all the way!!
@@nathan3306 My bad - thanks for the correction. In any event, GD still does a much better job of standing behind their customers than Jayco, which is info I've heard firsthand.
Just bought a Grand Design 2022 Toy hauler. They told me everything WORKED. When I picked it up the Refrigerator didn't work. PRETTY IMPORTANT ITEM. I drove about 800mi then they said they would send one to the local dealer. Not true when customer service Manager was called said he would not do that. After being on hold forever. Very bad 👎 WARRANTY. Never Again!!!!
Last time I looked Grand Design was using aluminum framing around all their openings. Jayco was not. I saw a TH-cam video where they were replacing a window and there was no aluminum framing just the foam fiberglass and the Luan. With that said Jayco puts an awesome roofing system on all there trailers. I also love their Farmhouse look. I don't think you could go wrong with either one.
My Brand new Grand Design Refrigerator didn't work from DAY ONE. The Dealer at pick up couldn't fix it. They would not have a new one with a installation service order waiting at my Destination. I talked to the customer service Manager, very poor 😢 PR person. After being on HOLD FOREVER! They can look at it again in a month and a half. Also the 12v system won't support the heater running on a cold night 😒 GRAND????
Digging deeper into quality I'd take Jayco over Coachmen everyday of the week. Amenity wise I think both offer many great features but then quality will seperate them as Jayco will always come to the top.
Well the Imagine gentleman presented way better and sold that RV. The Jayco guy ah so,so. We own a Jayco and love it. Ours is very similar to the Imagine. If I could build my own for the same price point as those I would you a little of both RV’s to make up my unit.
Agreed, I've been leaning toward white cabinets, but the lighter colors show dirt and wear more easily. I'd prefer a not dark wood (or not dark color) with better soft lighting in most campers.
We looked at both and like them overall! But the outdoor kitchen on the Grand Design wasn’t to great, the cabinets looked like the came out of the 60s . But the kicker was the smell when we walked in the door it burned our eyes! Serious off gassing! It had large holding tanks which is a huge plus as we dry camp often ! We ended up with the Jayco 2021 eagle 284 BH0k.
100% agree! If the skeleton (i.e. Framing decking type of fasteners used etc.) is not the highest quality then your trailer is junk out of the factory. Yes all the whistles and bells add to the aesthetics but basically they’re all window dressing, and most do not add anything to the longevity of the quoted “earthquake on wheels.” With that in mind Jayco is my pick.
Grand Design hands down. We just bought a 2022 22xls rbe. After looking at lots of trailers we were impressed with the quality of GD. Also GD are rated for full time living, Jayco is not.
I would go jayco for many reasons but for one the outside kitchen isetal not that cheap wood big miss for granddesign also I had a lot of cosmetic issues with the GD, oh and the roof on the jayco is way better, always thought I was getting a good trailer to I switched to the jayco oh amd yhe light safety is the best
The Grand Design gets my vote. Jayco RVs are good, but their interior design is dated to me. You can put whatever colour scheme on them, but doors with in-laid panels are so old fashioned. On the contrary, the Grand Design has a very modern feel to it. Even though I don't really like the off-white inserts, but I'll still favour that over the so-called modern barn house. Other brands with interiors that I really like are Airstreams and NuCamps. I especially like the NuCamp Avia's unconventional exterior.
@@TraditionalFun It really all depends what type of camping and traveling you're doing. I've had good experiences and bad experiences with Jayco. And the bad experiences was always when it came to dry camping in the deep woods. Jayco's are great for parks or more cleared out wooded areas, but I wouldn't recommend them for people who tend to be on the move a lot and taking it off grid.
I dont think that's entirely true, Jayco advertises Amish style craftsmanship for a reason, GD is awesome, probably the best imo... but Jayco is indeed a close second and the build quality is really nice and sturdy

This must be before the G.D. has all them bent frames.
Grand design
Grand Design hands down. We just bought a 2022 22xls rbe. After looking at lots of trailers we were impressed with the quality of GD. Also GD are rated for full time living, Jayco is not.
I would go jayco for many reasons but for one the outside kitchen isetal not that cheap wood big miss for granddesign also I had a lot of cosmetic issues with the GD, oh and the roof on the jayco is way better, always thought I was getting a good trailer to I switched to the jayco oh amd yhe light safety is the best
Seems to me that the 284bhok eagle ht would have been a better Floorplan comparison with that Grand Design Floorplan.
Jayco for the win!
Love having the bbq grill in the outdoor kitchen vs a two burner cook top.
G.D. just for the quality of cabinetry.
Grand Design....Nuff Said.
Coachman Freedom Express 275bhs...
Grand Design hands down way better. Jayco is like going to Walmart to buy a RV
I would think a White Hawk would be a better comparison to an Imagine than a Jay Feather.
Grand Design
I’m a fan of grand design hands down. Sorry Jayco
Bueler does a little better job of presenting his product, but..... Jayco all the way.
I thought I was listening to a Home Depot commercial
Jayco
I love campers
I'm getting the 3250bh Grand Design looks better to me😜
Jaycp
Love the inside of our Jayco! The grand design looks like a cheap college dorm cardboard
Interior is not good at all
Jayco's are horribly cheaply made, with lots of problems even in "brand new" units
Interesting. I’ve owned a Jayco hybrid for 6 years. No issues. Actually, very impressed with overall quality.
Jayco all the way! Grand designs look very cheap on the inside.
