We all have had our share of stories about the captivating, breathtaking, and unimaginable beauty of Kashmir. So, we planned a four-day trip to Srinagar in March 2021. And guess what - every word they say about this pristine beauty is absolutely true!
In this video, we will be sharing information specific to "A Day Trip to Sonamarg from Srinagar" and how you can utilize the limited time in hand to make the most out of your day. But first thing first, the highway leading to Sonamarg is closed during peak winters and open only at the beginning of March, so if you're planning to visit Kashmir in Jan or Feb, it might not be possible. Situated at an altitude of 2730 m, Sonamarg is one of the most beautiful places in the entire country (Incredible India) to witness the beautiful snowy mountains. Sonamarg had historical significance as a gateway on the ancient Silk Road, connecting Jammu and Kashmir with Tibet (Wikipedia). Today, it's a scenic hill station and a popular tourist destination amongst hikers. The most popular attraction of this place is Thajiwas Glacier, the base of which can be reached through a sledge, snow scooter, horse ride, or hike. We chose to hike, and it was a great experience. There are many small restaurants in the area, where you can choose to take a break and enjoy a sip of tea or phaad wali Maggi adoring the scenic views of snow capped mountains in the backdrop.

Love to see that u made it on foot, these snow bikes running such a scam charges 1000-1500 rs for going till Sonmarg Club
Actually it was 3500/- when we asked about it back in 2021. Being on our own and exploring on our own is something that we still cherish. Hope you have a similar experience. It's no doubt a wonderful place to be.

Its totally your wish. Our's was a day trip from Srinagar. There are only a handful of hotels there. Staying might be worthwhile if you plan to go to Drass and other destinations on that route.

Hi! We travelled here in the first week of March last year. I'm now hearing that J&K govt is considering keeping the roads open all year long. But you might wanna check on that. Hope we were helpful. Have a great trip!
