@Peggy Dutcher yes she was in the star wolf team. In the Game "Star Fox Commands" she joined Star Wolf because Fox forced her off the team because he was afraid she could get hurt when flying with them etc.
What confuses me about the Star Wolf team is that in 64/64 3D when you fight them the second or third time (it's been forever since I last played this game), they have robotic parts (except Wolf, who has band-aids) on their faces, referencing their injuries/deaths from the previous battle(s), but in later games, they're back to normal. Do those robotic parts have healing abilities or something, hence why they don't have them in later games?
Nothing beats some good old fashioned star fox cockpit banter. Hope the 3DS version was ported better than the Wii Virtual Console edition was years back.. added my old video as a response to show how broken the game was for MONTHS.

The SNES was at the end of it's operational life and the 64 was right around the corner. What ended up happening was that they decided to go ahead with making Star Fox 64 (A remake of the original SNES Starfox) instead of finishing and releasing Star Fox 2 (which would've been made non-canon by 64 anyway).

Your line of logic depends on a ton of conjecture; especially when the canon path of 64 means absolutely nothing in the long run, the rest of the series still flows the same way regardless of which path is "canon". Smash Bros simply used iconic levels (Venom and Sector Z) and characters from the game. I seriously doubt they contacted the SF devs so they could be a hidden canon in their levels and opening montage.

In my opinion, the scar's pretty cool. I kind of think they should've colored Leon's eye white, Oikonny (referred to as Algae) looks like a baby, and Pigma actually looks pretty good. He doesn't really look like the bad guy he is though. I liked Wolf and Pigma the best now that I look at it a second time. But we both agree that the game is good, so yeah.

This theme would be received better if there was a more epic version of this theme that plays when star wolf tries to stop you in venom.
