Hi Amine, Great video. A really well considered and presented set of ideas and suggestions. Thank you for posting. I’ve subscribed and I look forward to looking at all your other videos. Keep up the great work. 👍🏻
I just found your channel and after the first video I watched I clicked a subscription. Lots of amazing pictures and useful knowledge. Thank you. Great work!
What are your thoughts about “what the subjects get?” out of the photos… I always have the feeling that I’m using them, that is not my intention but in some way it is like that… even more, what if a shot brings some positive attention to you as photographer, subjects just stay at were they were but us/you as photographer just have them as stepping stone.
Absolutely great point! I'm currently developing a documentary that centers on a remarkable drone artist who, despite being paraplegic and living with progressive muscle atrophy syndrome, continues to pursue his creative vision. My approach to this project has been deeply rooted in building authentic relationships and creating meaningful collaboration. The story began with initial visits to his island home during the summer months. However, the true connection emerged during my winter visits - a deliberate choice that resonated deeply with the local community, as it demonstrated my commitment beyond the typical tourist season. Through numerous late-night conversations, I discovered his profound aspiration: to document a UNESCO-registered traditional fishing technique practiced by his father, grandfather, and many islanders to this day. While his health condition prevents him from physically engaging with this heritage, he has found a powerful alternative through drone photography. His mission has evolved into creating a visual legacy of his island for his daughter, especially poignant given his limited life expectancy. Despite attracting attention from local producers who recognize his status as a community icon, he chose to entrust his story to me, citing our genuine connection and shared vision. Our collaboration has evolved into a dual narrative: I'm supporting his dream of documenting this traditional fishing practice while simultaneously creating a documentary about his journey toward completing this deeply personal project. This approach ensures that the documentary serves both our creative ambitions while maintaining the dignity and agency of its subject - a testament to the power of collaborative storytelling in documentary filmmaking. I should probably make a video about this, if you have points you want me to dive into deeply let me know :) always feel free to reach out to ask questions or to chat :) Thanks again for your comment.
