Doing as Jingles suggest he should is just adding to the CV's XP total and taking away from his own.
I agree, he actually saved the day. He did lots of damage to the enemy BB and set it on fire. Without it, the Mackensen would have gone down to the enemy CV and they would have lost. The enemy BB had too much health to be sunk by the friendly T6 carrier alone.

to be fair to the Mackensin player, he had already been engaged with the Spaghetti BB while there were multiple ships still fighting & alive & the game was still in doubt. It wasn't until a quick series of kills that he found himself needing to disengage. Also, once a CV decides that a BB is going to die, there's not really a damn thing the BB player can do about it - and the CV would've spotted him no matter what - so firing or not firing made zero difference. But Jingles, the RDF (Radio Direction Finder) use radio emissions sent from the ship it detects. Last time I checked, submarines underwater did not use radio. (well, technically they might use some very low frequency radio, but hardly in the middle of a wwii-ish era battle)
Sure, and radar isn't a magic spell that can see through islands and the Radio Location skill DOES say it points to the nearest enemy, detected or not. Again, you won't get very far in World of Warships applying logic and common sense to things.
To be fair, the RDF works by picking up radio signals (it's in the name). However, if that is WG'''s reasoning, then the submarines should be deaf and mute to chat, and unable to see ships they can't detect on their own, even on the minimap, as long as theyr are at depths where they can't be detected by RDF.

The RDF skill makes sense though, it's using the enemies radio transmissions to get a bearing. A sub at depth won't be transmitting anything, a) because the water would block it anyway and b) they don't want to be detected by RDF.
One could ask is shooting through a sub would make it unable to properly dive....one could also question how it is a 356-510mm AP shell being fired through a destroyer doesn’t cause flooding or totally eviscerate the engine or whatever other critical machinery is in the way.

Funnily enough, didn't RPF also not work against carriers? The one class that, I don't know, should use the radio all the time for communication with its aircraft? But yeah, hero classes gonna be hero classes.
Well, the Prince Archbishops of Salzburg might want to have a word. Bavaria only go their dirty mitts on Salzburg during Napoleonic times in 1810, and before that, it was first ruled by a junior line of the Hapsburgs, in the shape of the Archduke of Toskana, from 1803 until 1805, when the Austrians took over, with a short French interim in 1809. So it was actually Austrian before it became Bavarian, and finally became Austrian for good in 1816. But yes, Mozart was a German as someone living and dieing in the Holy Roman Empire.
Jingles, the enemy below had something to say about a submarine’s actual chances. “Then why do they hunt them with THREE destroyers at a time?” One dd vs. one sub, if the sub got the chance, might very well be able to put a “fish” into the tin can. Or at least disengage. Particularly before widespread hedgehog usage.

Fantastic commentary as always, though a submarine that got shot through with bullets should be able to sink... although not to resurface. Remember, every ship is submersible...once.
To add further insult to injury with the sub problem: I was sailing the Flint, got two full salvos into the enemy sub, did not kill him, and because he (pr another sub) torpedoed me earlier, he got me with his secondary.
Submarines being basically dead if caught on the surface would actually nicely balance their perma-stealth, invincibility mode they have when not at the surface.
the High school Fleet Harekaze, was more or less a training ship. Which is why said ship, is as it is. I have one. Its not bad, just different to play.
The main issue I have with subs is that I don't get to play them. Have to do stupid combat missions to get them for just a few days, don't even get to choose which ones or sequence them because playing the first set of subs will complete the missions and force unlock the other 2 sets. From what I saw, the HE shells our guy shot at the sub didn't actually hit. The game gave a "Penetration" medal, but that didn't actually happen. Subs take splash damage from HE shells that hit the water near them. Because the Harekaze launches so few shells and the Sub is such a small target (and the harekaze's guns are so small) the splash damage from the shells ends up not being much. He'd have to get an actual direct hit, which did not happen.
07:42 Is that a nod towards the game Battlestations: Midway or just some carrier critical joke? And why did Wargaming not take some of the ideas and balancing from that game and Pacific in the first place? Back then those seemed to be quite well made in terms of the different roles of the ships and such at least to a casual player like myself.
Submarines did have a valid fleet role in WWII. cf: U.S.S. Nautilus at Midway. While her torpedoes failed to accomplish anything, she did successfully find the Japanese fleet and attacked Hiryu. With a good torpedo, she could have changed the outcome of the battle - Yorktown would probably have survived. Nautilus was there as part of the fleet deployment ordered by Admiral Nimitz in defense of Midway. U.S.S. Darter and Dace as reconnaissance units vs the Northern Force at the Battle of Leyte. After reporting the Japanese fleet position, they went on to torpedo several cruisers including Admiral Ozawa's Flagship. U.S.S. Albacore at the Marianas Turkey Shoot. While her one torpedo vs Taiho had results out of all proportion to reasonable expectations because Japanese damage control failed, she did locate the Japanese and she legitimately damaged the carrier. The Japanese ordered large submarine screens ahead of the attack on Midway in a reconnaissance role. Apart from U.S decoding Japanese message traffic, this screen would probably have performed as intended and significantly affected the course of the battle. Barham, Yorktown, Indianapolis and Shokaku represent submarines on patrol presented with opportunity rather than participating in fleet actions. Submarines did NOT have the major-player role in fleet-actions that WG is trying to give them. Enter the business concern. If WG are to justify the effort of developing submarines, they must achieve market penetration. For this reason, they ignore the opportunity to make a realistic vessel that could enjoy a rewarding if minor role in the hands of good players and create the abomination we see today.
To be fair, the radiolocation shouldn't be able to detect submarines when they are underwater as the radio signal is being blocked by the water (subs barely have any information on their minimal as well), though radar seeing through the islands is not exactly accurate, so they could have implemented rpf for subs anyway.
Wait so submarines can go for the ram on people and you have no warning that it's going to happen before they hit you, and they can go faster than a destroyer while submerged? This game has some massive balance issues nowadays

I stopped playing this game but I enjoy your videos showing the game.
The highlight of your videos is always trying to find Akizuki meowing in the background :)
So submarines are essentially the EBRs and other wheeled vehicles of WoW?
that 7:41 was so subtle I thought I was watching a 2 ton ninja sneak into a drum factory
Goddammit Jingles I damn near fried my keyboard with tea at 7:41. Bless and curse you for that image.
It might be the vino I consumed before, or the effects of too much sun, but I think this is the first time I have walked away from one of your replay videos thinking "what the hell did I just watch". Which considering the normal level of C&A party you show, says a lot.
I really miss the times when Jingles would give history of the ship being featured. His Warsoite vid is my absolute favorite. I guess paper ships are responsible for this, but still. I really miss it.
Also, I bought an Atlanta 6 years ago. When it was good. Just had to get that out.
15:00 bla bla bla fair bla bla bla balance ... and now for my magical flags that prevents kamikaze strikes!
Jingles featuring Aetam in the HSF Harekaze? We've seen this before haven't we?
Have we? I don't recall. Either I missed something, or I'm just as crap as the old man. XD
loved that hidden Fight Club style flash featuring a giant ... ship
Funnily enough, didn't RPF also not work against carriers? The one class that, I don't know, should use the radio all the time for communication with its aircraft?
But yeah, hero classes gonna be hero classes.
It does work against CVs
Well, Mozart was a German. He died 1791, but Salzburg became part of Austria only 1805. Before it belonged to Bavaria.
That was great Jingles. Oof... going down to the wire though.
Loved the video @The Mighty Jingles! Can't wait for the next video man! Torpedobeats are just awesome to see, especially if it's a Big Slow Target like the Friedrich der Größe, Größe Kurfurst or maybe the Pommern, Mainz or Ödin. Just ask @Daniel Rusev, He's done Them in most of these Ships and uploads them as Part of his "World of Warships Funny Moments" Series.
World of Warships players: Pulls Torpedobeats and Dodges Torpedo spread
Me every time I see this: *Any Song from "Initial D" starts playing in the Background* "Running in the 90's, It's a new way of life to be! I'm just Running in the 90's...."
What a twist at the end, totally expected though XD
Well, you had Sigmund Freud from Austria as well.
Fantastic commentary as always, though a submarine that got shot through with bullets should be able to sink... although not to resurface. Remember, every ship is submersible...once.
Dude, this replay was a fucking rollercoaster!
Wow, what an ending!
Harekaze is such a good ship ! One of my favorites.
I saw the thumbnails and thought "Neat, finally a gameplay video of the Harekaze II !"
Nope, wrong ship...
Watching the DoY just sail into the torps one after the other was quite amusing!
Especially considering DoY has hydro
To add further insult to injury with the sub problem: I was sailing the Flint, got two full salvos into the enemy sub, did not kill him, and because he (pr another sub) torpedoed me earlier, he got me with his secondary.
Mac and Me is an awesome movie! Eat your heart out ET!
3:00 Actually Jingles, it's Akitsuki that has 100mm guns, not Akatsuki. Also, is the name of the cat Akatsuki or Akitsuki?
The biggest historical legacy austria achieved was that they made Beethoven become a austrian and Hitler become a german. Greetings from Germany.
Submarines being basically dead if caught on the surface would actually nicely balance their perma-stealth, invincibility mode they have when not at the surface.
Ships go boom, that’s all I need to see.
the High school Fleet Harekaze, was more or less a training ship. Which is why said ship, is as it is. I have one. Its not bad, just different to play.
Great Vid Thx!
I'm so confused. I was expecting the video to start with a tank.
"Charging down a submarine in a battleship is a terrible idea"
New York and Texas in WW1: "Are we a joke to you?"
Submarines did have a valid fleet role in WWII. cf:
This game has some massive balance issues nowadays
no shit sherlock. genuinely though it is depressing to see how a moronic and money-hungry company can ruin a great game. at this point i just wish I had the money to buy the game off of wargaming and do a better job
WG cant even spell balance, much less actually balance their shit storm of a game
I miss the World of Warships that existed before the carrier rework.
7:42 ROFLMAO! Jingles should try his hand in stand-up comedy.
