Man, the teardown really hurt to watch. I suggest watching Josh Davidson's Slim teardown guides so you can properly disassemble one of these in the future. Reguardless, nice repair.
so i know some people are shitting on your teardown technique in the comments, but god damn this was an entertaining video. I appreciate you keeping in the flubs and foibles. and I hope you maybe do an RGH hack on this in the future! also, BONUS GAME, WOOOOOOOOOOOO
Thanks for watching! Glad I could provide some entertainment. :D And, I'm pretty sure this isn't the last time we'll see this 360 on the operating table...
Btw, thermal paste is supposed to squeeze out. All that should be left is the tiny amount to fill microscopic imperfections in the machining. Glad you found the actual fix tho!
This was a very enjoyable to watch. I myself have opened up 2 ps3 all the way apart to clean and replace the thermal paste. I have a 2nd hand Xbox 360E that I want to disassemble, clean and apply new thermal paste. I also got a PS4 slim recently from a pawn shop to do same procedures. I laughed when you said wooden fork when it was clearly a knife. lol
Thanks! Also, here's a little "inside-baseball" trivia for this video. While I'd love to say that the "fork" thing was an intentional joke... in reality, I didn't even notice that my brain flubbed that until I had already finished editing the video and had uploaded it.
Ive damaged that ribbon cable before too, I think it happens to most ppl who crack these open for the 1st time. Not sure i'd run jumpers long term tho, id find a parts board to grab those 0 resistors from.
I do believe you're correct. I think I nicked that cable when poking around for a clip. As for those jumpers, I've got some resistors on the way from China, so we'll see it back on the operating table again in the future. I definitely agree with not doing that as a long term solution though - it's somewhat akin to replacing a fuse with a nail.
This is a Waitsburg 4GB, which is a Corona version. Most of the Corona versions have those resistors that cause overheating, there isn't really any known reason for why they fail.
Only some of the slims had the 4GB flash included. The NAND size varied as well (matters if you do the RGH3 mod). I bought 3 or 4 from eBay last year and I think only one of them had the internal flash storage. Luckily they just use standard 2.5" SATA drives, and you can 3D print an enclosure for using your own drives as well. Plus you can plug in a FAT32 flash drive. I was expecting you to do a lot worse with the clips when I read the comments first. They really are a nightmare when you haven't gotten used to them yet. I think I wrestled with my first 360 Slim for an hour before I got anywhere, but after doing a few I can get them open no problem. This is my first time hearing about those 0 ohm resistors, that's a pretty interesting problem.
Thanks for the info about the flash memory! May do a re-visit on this and try out my new (for me) 3D printer. And, yep, those clips are an absolute nightmare...
My eror it was 0101, but I solved with a reflow with a heat gun. After reflow, at the first boot, he show same error like your console, but I pressed ok and the console started normaly. After 15 hours of games, my console still work perfect. Xbox 360 Slim, Trinity.
I would recommend delidding the CPU, as there’s thermal paste underneath which needs to be replaced. Josh Davidson has a video on that, definitely recommend his channel as he’s an Xbox 360 expert
Thanks for watching! Delidding did cross my mind, but then I remembered Vince's attempt to delid a PS3 hah. I'll definitely take a look at that video though, and may do a follow-up where I try my luck at it.

100% agreed. Though, you've gotta' admit, I did break way less tabs than most people would've predicted.

Fwiw, delidding a 360 is very easy compared to PS3.
Love your vids bro
Thanks, and appreciate the support!
Nice video
maybe worth it to repair yourself if your going to use it but not paying someone as you can find em for like $50.
