The nova which is higher end model clicker is way louder.. check the point that hit wheel to make clicker sound to see if it out of place or needs adjusted
Mine have seemed to slow down a little bit and not casting as far as when brand new. They are holding up extremely well though. I've pulled in logs with them on the river. I have really tried to max mine out and see what they can do. They slip a bit under extreme pressure, but other than that, still a really good real imo. One of them was yanked off a dock by a boat and was submerged in fast muddy current for a couple of days. I managed to find it and recover it using a gator treble hook and para cord. Still working fine. I ordered the reel butter kit and hoping that helps. Next video for me is how to clean and lube a bait caster. :)
Todd, I liked the review. Thanks. I have been a Zebco man for many years. I had a rod and reel and Coleman warranty shop up until 1995 and then finally gave it up. Building custom rods and repairing the broken rods no one else would bother with made me a lot of friends. It is hard to part with an old friend after using it so many years. I have been under the weather for about a year but now I am feelin a bit better. Watching your Big Cat XT 350 review got me stirring again and I had to choose between the Big cat 30 and the 350. I finally ordered the 350. I could almost feel that reel in my hands. It looks hefty but not too big. The XT 30 is a conventional and I want a mid size with a thumb button. The 350 review convinced me,so now,because of your review I have to wait until Thursday for it to get here. I may have to drink some beer to calm down. Homemade Cerveza. I will toast to you with a second glass. : ) Oh, I ordered some 30 lb braid too.Thanks for heling me decide.

Good reel I like mine. Bait clicker isn't near as loud as it should be. For a couple bucks more i like the abu garcia 6600 sx a little more. I only use this reel for channel cats. I wouldn't use it to catch big blues or flatheads.
I have one of these on a whisker seeker full metal jacket rod and only problem I've had is the clicker on it isn't loud enough not like my Abu Garcia 6500c3 catfish special
I've got 2 and the only issue I have had is when I hooked a 100 + lb. Cat and it went under the boat. It got to a point where I was afraid I was either going to strip the gears or break the rod. I could feel that I couldn't pull or reel anymore with out breaking it. The fish let go at that point. The only thing I could have done was release the spool and let it run again. Other than that, I love them. Zebco has been awesome with replacing parts when needed as well! I got the combos from their website. The rods are great too and I love the white tips for night fishing. They show up well (glow) in any color of light. Also the Zebco Moss green and chartreuse camo line in 30 lb. test mono is a perfect fit for these bad boys. I wish I had 2 more of the combos. I just broke an old Zebco 808 from the early 90's. I think i am going to grab another one of these reels to replace it, though I may go with the lower geared BCXT30C this time. Thanks for the review. I was wondering if the gears were brass or not...
Yes, the Abu is going to be louder. I own two of these Zebco reels and both clickers are quiet. Aside from that, I like these reels and after using them all summer have no other complaints.
Good reel, cast a mile but the clicker is pretty useless, no matter how tight you get the spool cap and set the clicker line still pulls out with ease and can’t hear it.
I bet when I got reply zebco customer service on the model up from this the quantum Nova 350 on how loud clicker was the guy said it was loud. Well that bull s@#$

How is that reel holding out
I have two of them and they are still working like new, and they've had a decent amount of use since I purchased them. No complaints.

I have been using 2 for 2 years and didn't even know they had a clicker....
Only thing I see I do not like is the nylon gears sooner or later they will give out but for the price you paid I believe you got a good reel there.
Sooner or later any reel is gonna wear out though.
The nylon gears are only cogs for the level wind, heaps of reels have these even the ABUS.

The Zebco Big Cat Conventional model BCXT30C has a really loud clicker! Most say it's annoying.
