    It's great to this boat coming on. Really funny when you get excited about a working nav light.

    The excitement as it starts to really look like a boat rather than a battered shell is almost palpable. Absolutely loving the progression :D

    14:31 "Dukes of Hazard style!" cracked me up. Didn't Starsky and Hutch also use the same entry style? Anyway, we're both showing our age here! Just to add, I found your channel a few days ago and I've binge watched all 35 videos up to now. Great series and thanks for sharing. I'm slowly making my way up to your latest, episode 97. I'll catch you there :-)

    Where possible, use flat snap on conduit, That round stuff is a nightmare to feed long run cable through , looking good James , always look forward to your videos

      John B would you suggest just gluing that flat snap stuff into the foam ? I’ve got some of too !

      I’d try maybe where you’ve got the wood overhang at gunnel level maybe put it behind those battens then you’re not pulling the spray foam away, I’m not a electrician or anything but try to make things easier

    For the record, if you heat the prop at the shaft, with a torch while removing, it will come off easier. And apply never seize or some sort of thick lubricant before installing to help prevent corrosion, and then heating the prop again to reinstall in the cold shaft it will go on very easy. Once it cools (use water) it will be pressed on.

    'Starboard nav light is working' he says while staring at the red port light. You need more sleep James!

    do you have a wiring plan? 12 and 220? fixture, plug and switch locations? this next part of the build should be very interesting, more thought and consideration required with a bit less grunt work than hefting ballast around.

      B C that’s exactly where I am. I’m really considering just 12v - I may have an emergency inverter but just a small one. Thinking of having 4 lighting sets each with a switch and 6 leds. 12v charging points under gunnels. Will run 12v through ceiling and switches on side walls

      Concerning the 240v lines. I would run three. One in the kitchen, saloon and bedroom. You never know what you might need to plug in when your hooked up to shore power. Just my 2p worth

    Ive NEVER seen red or green lights used on canal. Cant even remember seeing them on canal boats.
    Still, if you wanna be fancy...

    • @JasperJanssen

      If you want to be allowed on the rivers in the dark or fog, you’re gonna need lights.

    • @jamescooper4252
      @jamescooper4252 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JasperJanssen fair enough. As i said, never seen on canal.
      I would opt for couple good magnet lights unless night river cruising became a big thing.
      Cheers 👍

    James, why didn't you run the electrical conduit before the spray foam went on?

    • @TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt
      @TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Steven Williams I didn’t have the time - I had to finish the battening which I did with 30mins to spare whilst the spray foam man was waiting outside for me to finish !!

    Try to run electric. Port and starboard to the power box. Kitchen is the third run. Solar is is next! Engine room should be separate.

    do you only need nav lights for on the rivers?

    Hi, not a good idea to clip an unknown quantity across a battery without an inline fuse. If the two wires are attached directly to a battery and are a short circuit you could have fire. Suggest always checking the resistance with a multimeter first. Take care and keep up the good work.

    • @TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt
      @TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dave Colston do you mean checking the resistance in the red and black wire before connecting it to a battery - to see what? If their is some current in them or something? Thanks in advance 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

    • @davecolston582
      @davecolston582 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No if you attach the meter to the wires before connecting a battery on the first light you would have seen there was no resistance i.e. infinity so this would have indicated an open circuit i.e. bulb not installed. If you carried out the same process on the second light you would have got a reading and I would guess that would be about 20 ohms so safe to carry on. If however it showed a short circuit of 0 ohms then to attach a battery would have been unwise as you would possibly have melted the wires and insulation.

    I suggest before putting the tank back, you sterilize it.
