Lots of learning here, good video! I think new drivers want to slow down while changing lanes because its terrifying going full speed and checking your blind spot and not seeing what's in front of you while going full speed. Obviously blind spot checking is a second or 2 but its daunting for a new driver not looking in front of them while trying to change lanes at full speed even if its a quick check. They aren't coordinated yet in doing all these things seamlessly. Takes a ton of practice.
Hi Sandra M - And you are most welcome. We're happy to hear we could help out. If there is anything further we can do, drop us a note. Always happy to help. All the best, Cheers Rick
Good luck with your driving test! Rick is 💯 percent right that you need to show your ability to control the vehicle under any conditions! I feel it is not exactly how to drive but being confident. I passed my test in February thankfully, but my examination was tough. The examiner was blaming that I took too long to change the lane, even though he saw that it was unsafe to change it quickly. And so other things. I felt he tested my ability to drive under the pressure. But I was very confident about how I performed the driving! Thank you Rick for all your videos! I feel I watched them all! They helped not only to learn about driving, but overcome the strong fear of driving!

Hey Rick, thank you for your videos they are always very helpful. What did Kaillah do before crossing the intersection on the 4-way stop that you should only do on a 2-way stop? Around 2:47. Thank you!
Hi Veggie Runner - at 2-Way STOPS, you stop at the correct position, move forward as if you're at a YIELD, find your gap, and when there's sufficient gap you can proceed. At 4-Way STOP signed intersections, you come to a stop at the correct position, and when the way is clear and all other vehicles have stopped, you can proceed. See this vid: th-cam.com/video/dQH1puYzMlM/w-d-xo.html Drop us a note if we can help further my friend. All the best, Cheers Rick
Left turns at controlled intersections: Red Light - Stop on the white line, do not proceed forward Green Light - Enter the intersection partially and wait for either a gap in oncoming traffic or when oncoming traffic is completely clear, then make the turn when safe Yellow Light - Move further into the intersection, check that oncoming traffic is coming to a stop or have stopped, then you must make the turn. You should aim to complete the turn before the light turns back to red.

Nice! As far as two-way stops go, so many drivers are like lemmings; they just follow what the driver in front of them do. If the driver in front of them goes past the stop line to where they can see better before proceeding, the next driver will do the same. Unfortunately, that's illegal. It MIGHT be safe to go past the line but it's not legal. I drill my students on taking care of their legal obligation to stop at the line FIRST before crawling out to where they can see better. Don't be a lemming! Also, I always emphasize the importance of checking the central inside mirror as we approach a stop - any stop - because drivers behind may not expect you to actually come to a full stop at the line. In that case, to mitigate a rear-end collision if someone is following too close, it will require slowing down sooner than you normally would, thus forcing the driver behind to slow down with you. I can't wait to hear how it goes with Kaillah!
Just ignore the honkers they are impatient idiots. I got honked at once on my test I was turning right at a tee intersection there was a car beside me on my left turning left. I could not see cause of the car who was coming to my left so I waited until the car moved so I could see guy behind me honked at me. Some people are just inpatient how lots of accidents happen
hi can you clarify a doubt, lets say i want to pull into a gas station on the left side of the road right before an intersection. is it legal for me to turn from the left turn lane in to the gas station? what if there are cars behind that want to turn left at the intersection, will i be holding the traffic behind me? thanks
