    So at the time of security checks do you take out all these gears and put them in trays and put it to be scanned ? Trays sometimes gets twisted over and might break the gears.

    Really crisp and to the point video, a rare thing in the era of click-bait. Also, it was so nice to see quality video from an Indian photog. Thankyou! Having said that, i feel not quite sure if i would be comfortable with your kind of arrangement of carrying the flimsy backpack for actual safari ...i feel that to be less handy and safe. I would rather have a bag holding my gear, lying flat on the seat next to me, on a safari vehicle. One suggestion: the sound quality on the video does'nt do justice to content; it could be better. Thanks again.

      Hi Asheesh. Thank you so much for your detailed feedback and kind appreciation. I know what you mean by the safety of your camera gear in a padded bag. That’s exactly how I used to carry my gear, till I realised that in a shared vehicle, it was an inconvenience to others and took up too much space.
      Note about the sound quality of the video. I’ve received similar feedback and will work on that. Cheers!

    Hi Sir! thank you very much for another wonderful video. I have a question. Do you carry a tripod / Monopod when on a Safari? If so, how would you pack it? Secondly, do you use a bean bag? How would you put it in?

      Balaji P B Thank you for your appreciation and for your questions Balaji. Firstly, with the bean bag ( see my previous video - What’s In My Camera Bag) th-cam.com/video/riMpO3JwipU/w-d-xo.html where I showcase all the gear I carry, including a bean bag and a monopod. The bean bag is pack away in my check-in baggage and fill it up with whatever beans or grains like rice that are available locally. I never carry a tripod unless going to a specific birding destination like Bharatpur that requires walking. On regular wildlife safaris like Kabini, Ranthambore or Masai Mara & Serengeti, there is no place for a tripod mans a bean bag is enough. I do carry a monopod, but mostly as an extension for my Zhiyun Smooth 4 gimbal to record video. This time I did use it for photography to suspend my camera and bring it down to ground level and use an app to trigger the shutter. When I travel, I always use a hard case for luggage, so my tripod or monopod are on the bottom of the case and checked-in. 🙂

    Great Video. I am curious about the pouch you are using in the backpack. Do you have a link to the Amazon site or atleast what it is called? I am looking for something similar to carry multiple lenses in a safari

      Thank you for your appreciation Naveen. They are called padded inserts or DSLR inserts. Sharing a link to one such product on Amazon:

    Have you been able to take this on the smaller prop planes from Nairobi to Mara?

    • @ZhayynnJamesPhotography
      @ZhayynnJamesPhotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I have. Done it twice in the Mara and many times from Serengeti to Kilimanjaro airport. However, in Nairobi if you have more than 20 kilos you may have to pay the excess weight. I had to do that the first time. They don't check the weight on the return leg as its just an airstrip in the Mara.

    I am limited to a total of 33 pounds for all of my personal carryons INCLUDING camera gear. What is a lightweight camera recommendation?

    • @ZhayynnJamesPhotography
      @ZhayynnJamesPhotography  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gregory. I would definitely recommend a mirrorless camera system as they are smaller, lighter and occupy less space. What level of mirrorless camera would depend upon your budget and your technical requirements. :)

    Little confusion, will your carry this 17 kg camera trolley bag inside a flight as cabin luggage or you check-in this 17 kg camera trolley bag as a baggage.

    • @ZhayynnJamesPhotography
      @ZhayynnJamesPhotography  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rabi Nesh Hi, if you listen from the 8:00 min mark, that’s where I’m talking about the fact that I carry this as cabin baggage, but occasionally get asked to weigh the bag and the airlines will insist that I check it in. However I convince them to allow me to carry the bag as it’s very expensive lenses and cameras and the airline would be responsible for replacing any damaged gear. That’s the point they allow me to carry it on as cabin baggage.
