I worked some good DX today on AM , I’ll send you a video gate of it , talking on the Lincoln II+ you done for me , that thing is sooooo loud !! Sounds great and gets compliments all the time . 73’s ,, keep up the good work 👍
Thank you, the magic that happens at "The Radio Garage". Guess I'll not pick up a Lincoln II+, after hearing so many other owners not happy with the receive audio. But then, I could find a used one and send it in to have it improved.
My lincoln out of the box sounded ,muddy for a lack of any better words. Sent it in , got back with a note indicating it was as it should be . Any sold it took a hit .
That came out rather well opening up the receiver should help it a lot as it seems President has been leaving the receive a little thin on all of there new radios
Sounding good there Matt. I know exactly what the owner of the Lincoln is saying about the Rx audio. I had one myself and couldn't stand it . It sounded metallic and not what I am used to . All the ones I've seen here sound much better with RF gain at 1 o clock so makes me wonder if there's something going on with the AGC or something ? Take care my friend 73s
I've had one of these for about 3 years now.I bought a brand new. Yes on receive, just like others have outside of this particular TH-cam.Video opposlightly gobbled.Receive audio on side band even not a strong signal no noise blanker on. On my mind, it is intermittent and I've taught to other people who said they had the same problem.That's kind of weird when it's Intermittent. I don't know what the stock I.F passband side bend receive is on this radio I would still like to know what your mod was. Also , another common problem of these in high have nut seen it address, On receive with the volume all the way down in a very quiet location.Like maybe a bedroom.There's a constant hiss out of the speaker. My hearing is still pretty good for my age.I could never have this radio inside the house.
I have that radio. And when you expose it to COLD. And press to talk. The channel will change along with the frequency. As if you are pressing the top button on the mic.
We have the President Lincoln 2+ in the mobile using a small Icom speaker and this is just the way this rig sounds ...reminds me of aviation rigs...so its described a clean clear sharp and avoid of any bass ...this is not a Stricker or a Galaxy 73
I wish you would show the work being done on the inside, as well as the test. You could make a lot of money off a huge you tube channel. Kinda like what Mike used to do before he vanished off the face of the earth... Those with large youtube channels make 100k a year or more.
The receiver mixes QRM with audio, if you press the mic button to scan the frequencys the receiver does not change frequency as long as you hold it pressed, the paint is so delicate you can scratch it with your finger nail, the heat sink has no compound behind it, if you use FM the radio will be blazing hot and the heat sink stays cold, bad news for your finals, the audio chip is CRAP. President radios don't care.

I agree with the radio owner in that the sound is ‘unique’ and in my view, not pleasant.
