    I dislike how in not just this channel but in lots of channels when talking about the gaming industry in general barely if at all mention nintendo. As an example with this video talking about exclusives didn't even mention facts like nintendo games are only on their platforms. That the reasons things like the switch which is aging hardware which is low-key on the track to becoming the best selling console of all time. Still sells so many consoles because of its goddamn amazing quality exclusives(except pokemon). Which are far far more then just pokemon, mario and zelda. I just want videos like this or about the gaming industry in general put more respect on nintendo's impact and its games quality being out of the 3 big companies the one thats not just eating up all these anti consumer systems and putting them in their games. Especially on a video about exclusives Nintendo a company known for being very protective about their IP, nintendo should have been a far larger part of this video and videos like it. Especially with how much he was talking about exclusives moving to Pc and not mentioning nintendo still never doing this and with their history of industry defining games being far larger then both sony and microsoft making PC still not a perfect 1 stop shop for gaming without 1/3 of the exclusive competition probably ever natively going there.

      The reason I'm hardly mentioning Nintendo is because there is zero point in doing so. We've seen after xbox made there games available on pc that Sony followed with it and Nintendo didn't. Nintendo has zero desire to allow other platforms to their console as fundamentally their console is technologically inferior to others. You don't buy a switch for its hardware, you buy it for the IP on the console. If you care about the Hardwear you can now buy multiple other companies' versions of handheld gaming devices and even get attachments for mobile gaming to make it feel the same. Nintendo has zero desire to even have the conversation in the first place so if I go on about it then it's just me talking to a brick wall.

      @Exiled7 ya I understand what you mean in the conversation when it comes to exclusives moving platforms but that wasn't the only topic of the video. An example with quality exclusives driving sales of the console and people to that platform could have been almost fully about Nintendo itself. As well as well as their games being exclusive they also need to be innovative and just straight up fun to have anyone decide their console over the others. As well as even just a short section on how Nintendo treats their exclusive IP compared to the other companies. I just don't like when lots of channels talk about gaming as a whole in certain topics Nintendo basically feels excluded or treated as that one platform for elementary schoolers

      Exclusives are literally the only reason the Switch is succesful lmao. Without them it would be dead. It barely has any games from other platforms, and the ones that are on it are so awful that why would would you choose the Switch version over the actually good versions.

  • @ScoutOW2

    I'm of the belief that if theres no exclusives, people will debate on how well the system runs rather than the games. Which will still create competition to make better systems without forcing exclusives. While games will still have to be good to sell in general. You dont see people buying phones because of a few ios game, they buy what system they like most.
    I think those who buy consoles for specifically 1 or 2 games are def in the minority. Most people just get the system they know or what their friends got. There is and always will be demand for consoles so aslong as youre providing the best console thats all you need. Just look at the Steam Deck, all it is, is another computer but small in your hands with 0 exclusives. And that sold over whelmingly!

    • @Zy.Blurish
      @Zy.Blurish 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's not just about power differences of the systems but also the features of each that will be in the spotlight instead. Technological innovations will be more in the foreground to make them more unique instead of relying on games (making the actual thing you are buying more intersesting). Playstation's Dualsense or Xbox's Quick Resume are 2 good examples that come to mind so they would need to focus more on innovation of how to play instead of what to play

    • @ScoutOW2
      @ScoutOW2 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @zyblurish206 I agree!
      Controller wise Playstation is just superior. Xbox is the only modern controller that doesn't even have gyroscope. Anyone who plays Splatoon or shooters on the steam deck knows that gyro gives you aim just as good keyboard and mouse. Steam and Nintendo are heavily pushing and promoting it, making me feel like more games would experiment with it if xbox had it.
      Plus the way playstations triggers push back in certain actions, making it feel more like a weighty trigger or halfway doing a different action.
      I love the idea of steam deck but its just super weighty and big, but the switch is weaker in performance.
      Xbox has game pass goin for it but thats about it.

      If we’re talking about the mainstream market, I believe that a lot of people don’t know or care all that much about SSD speed and controller gimmicks. While yeah, those things are nice to have, and look good in presentations, at the end of the day the regular person who gets their kid a console or those who don’t follow the gaming industry as closely just care about games and *maybe* how those games run.
      Yeah the Steam deck sold well, but I think most of their customers are from the PC space, which you can’t neccessarily say about PS5 or XBox owners. You can also see it with phones, the reason that some companies leaned very heavily into their cameras being good is because a lot of users treat canera quality as one of the most important metric when deciding which brand to commit to; while some others (like Asus’s ROG phone) did feature more game-focused material, because that’s who their main target audience was.

    • @ScoutOW2
      @ScoutOW2 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @doomslayer5644 Sounds like you just dont like consoles.
      But there are reasons to get consoles over a PC. Theyre cheaper, you dont have to worry about if it will run on the system or not. Etc. And for the people who reeeaally dont care about getting a PC, they just want something that you can plug into the TV and turn on when they get home from work. Or kids with parents who dont want to get a gaming pc but buy their kids consoles. The casual audience pretty much. If all consoles suddenly drop their exclusives, there would still be people buying them just because they want a console. Most people can't afford a gaming pc AND a console. And most of the casuals will def not just buy an additional console for like, 2 games. So they cater to different audiences.
      If consoles required exclusives, steam deck would have 0 sales.

    Hot take: Why don’t companies keep their exclusives but allow for licensing (within a fair price range)?
    They could discuss dev time/budget to get them to the other platforms. This would allow the main platform to have the best features, ecosystem and price, while allowing for people who wouldn’t otherwise buy into the platform to purchase the game.
    Players could have more top tier games in their libraries, publishers would gain a higher customer base and platforms wouldn’t lose much of their luster. A win/win/mostly win🤷🏾‍♂️

    The biggest piece missing from this video is that consoles themselves are on their last leg. Cloud gaming is the next big thing that's coming 'soon'. Google Stadia proved the technology isn't there yet, but it's close enough to be visible on the horizon. The next generation of consoles is likely going to be the last one, afterwards it will likely all be on the cloud or whatever else. What the implications of this will be and whether it will be a positive or negative change is impossible to say at this point, but this is clearly the direction the gaming industry is headed into.

    Pc player here. I got into gaming last year, and since then I'm pretty sure I've played mostly ported games, like A LOT of resident evil and devil may cry (I ended up buying a controller to play dmc). Even tho most games I play are ported, I decided to buy a pc because it seemed to have the most variety (I used to play in a very shitty laptop lol). I didnt know much about exclusivity until now, but after watching this video I understand why it exists and why its kinda needed. So I dont have a strong opinion on it, but I think it would be nice if these exclusive games got ported some day to pc or other consoles. I dont mind waiting, maybe because I mostly play singleplayer games and not multiplayer, then i guess I would be more impatient to play before the game died and servers became empty

    Exclusivity is GOOD.
    To give value the game must be good, this means that the console maker should keep an eye on the game's development.
    If the game needs more time or funds it can provide it, simply because a good game will pull gamers to the console and by extension to the nice 30% cut that console makers take from every sold game.
    On the other hand, a bad game will become wasted money.
    Good examples are Forsaken (wasted money on exclusivity, it casts a shadow over future agreements so Square-Enix will try to don't repeat that mistake) and FFXVI/FFVII (well-spent money).

    The best games I have played in my life have been exclusive to Playstation. Never in my life has it crossed my mind for even a second to think that being exclusive makes them bad, on the contrary, it makes them incredible by being focused on a single console, they take advantage of it. to the maximum and give a higher value to having a Playstation console. Nintendo also seems to have very good games, the bad ones would be the Xbox ones, but with a decent PC and gamepass you can play them very cheaply.

The bad ones are the games that take control away from the player, sounds an awful lot like quick time events in God of War to me, or the endless cutscenes in uncharted and TLOU. What your saying is pure nonsense and bias.

    Competition is ultimately a good thing.
    I would like to see China, South-East Asia, Russia, Europe, Africa, North-America, South America, Australia, etc, develop their own console (+Chips and graphic cards?).
    And then an eco-system of games for their console.
    But not really (ultimately) exclusive games.
    For example: Lets say X-Box is North-Americas game console. They make "exclusive games" that they sell for $29. If you want that game on PC, Nintendo or Playstation, or other, it cost $49.
    Released a bit earlier on the native game console.
    And X-box could put that game into their general subsciption as well. Although i am absolutely not a fan of (forced) subscriptions.
    This would be awesome for game developers, as their region would see great benefits of supporting "local game development". Creativity would be harnessed naturally from each region.
    While still offer gamers across the world to play, and also meet eachother in their games and have fun.
    This would be awesome for everyone developing hardware, as the regions would benefit in supporting this sector.
    Somewhat exclusive, but not really.

Nintendo was doing fine as they had no competition so their handheld which is getting quite dated now is getting some major competition with steamdeck, asus rog and so forth. Ultimately I feel with a lot of those sorts of things something needs to change, also not accounting for as you mentioned there being an increase of remakes/only following series instead of trying something new as it is taking a shot in the dark. Only thing i would mention would be ubisoft does still have a contract with epic similar to what sony does where i believe its 2 years on epic then can go onto steam which is shooting themselves in the foot as when you want the most interest is at launch. Good video and would be interested if you have any thoughts on any of those things

    No, what's ruining gaming is the corporatazation of gaming! Companies in charge, prioritizing money over good games, prioritizing hiring people who will make them the most money, or DEI hires instead of the BEST person for the job who has a passion for gaming!
    If you gave me the choice on who I'd rather have making a game for me, a team of nerdy dudes that love gaming, or just a bunch of people who got into gaming as a career because it was a choice that they saw as decently rewarding financially who had high grades, I'd take the nerds ALL day, every day. Way too many people in gaming who don't love the medium, it's just a job. Also way too many arrogant people(who think they know better than everyone else) who want to push their political agendas and narrative, and prioritize that over writing a great story.
    And that's a problem with Hollywood and Gaming, and it's very depressing. Hopefully someday it'll course correct but after seeing Google's AI that will be used by millions(and spread this behavior even further) be racist towards white people (among other things) I am not very hopeful 😢

One game company is daring enough to cross the previous threshold with some new pricing model that isn't consumer friendly, snd the kthers will follow suit because all of a sudden its "acceptable." And they do all that without really making any improvements on the games. Its just more bigger budget, half baked, Ubisoft formula games, excluding indie games of course.

    For me personally, exclusivities don't matter as much. Though i may be biased since i own all three consoles (Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series S).
    For Xbox, i don't mind Hi Fi Rush or any other title eventually going to other platforms. I'll still likely play them on xbox because of Game Pass. If given the option to pay full price or play on a cheap subscription, the xbox option wins out.
    PlayStation exclusives don't really appeal to me. God of War and others feel too much like interactive movies than games. The reason i have a PlayStation is solely because alot of Japanese games still refuse to port to Xbox. So by default, it has alot of Japanese third party exclusives.
    Nintendo is the only platform where their first party titles actually do draw me in. I don't ever think we'll see Zelda or Pokémon on another platform and it would honestly feel weird if that did happen. Plus their consoles are usually cheaper then competitors, so its a great secondary platform for great experiences. I appreciate that their games prioritize gameplay over realistic graphics or heavy handed story telling.

      I still don't understand why people think Sony games are good. They have made a mindset in newer gamers that cutscenes and quick time events are good, and the only thing that matters in a game is the story. God of War is an interactive movie, which is not a good thing at all. Lots of people have caught on to how generic those games really are, but not enough. Sony will continue to produce bad games with interesting stories and movie critics posing as game critics will clap like a seal. Same reason why TLOU succeeded in 2013, movie critics replacing game critics.

The consoles are losing leaders for these companies. As they make nothing from the sale and lose money from each sale. The games however are $70 which if it's first party make a ton of money even those those same companies take at minimum 30% from the sale of everything from games to microtransactions on these platforms. That's why it's okay to have an issue with it. Just because someone can do something doesn't mean they should do it.
      Also "70 dollar mark now for most people this isn't an issue cause they have the money" is an incredibly ignorant take to have. "most" people don't have $70. The average American which is the dominant player base for these $70 titles is in debt with less than $1000 in savings. They don't have this money lying around. That is due to there own issues in life but that doesn't mean that they have the money for a $70 release.

      @@Exiled7 yes most Americans don't have 70 dollars to buy a game I'm one of them that why I buy on sale the point I mean with that is if it's a problem to pay that why to people go out of the way to buy for example ps5 was a 500 dollar station so if Xbox/pc and switch are the same way why will you then spend up to $1,500 to $2,000 or more just to play an exclusive games on both sides is crazy so that's why I say if you have the money to buy both then you had the money for a 70 dollar game if it was out on both consoles. I as much as the next person understand life is hard now a days hell, I have to struggle just to put food on the table for my kids to eat. which are probably why games are taking off that are 40 bucks. the other point I meant was I know there will be a difference between consoles I expect, Microsoft and Sony to do that but what I hate is when a company is bought out. cause if you want to play the next game then you have to own the console Thuse making you spend more than the 70 bucks. going at the top of wat you said there i don't get Tho what I'm saying is I have heard people complin about exclusivity and now that it may not happen much now people are upset that it's not. in my eyes I don't see how that's bad you as you said as an average American that struggles to have $70 shouldn't feel that now that Bethesda is Microsoft's that you now need to by an Xbox something that can be up to $500 to buy to play a game that you used to not have to worry about what console it was on and if you can look at it in a way where that's not a problem then like i said you clearly have more then as you put it the average American.

    • @Exiled7
      @Exiled7  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would say the three main things is being consistent, making small improvements every video and not expecting success every time you upload. I've been doing TH-cam since I was 9. This channel is one of many that I've made, restored and deleted. I uploaded twice a week on this channel for a year before any videos did well, even then I didn't really find success as I didn't take any of the right lessons away from it. So stay consistent and be prepared to not have every video pop off on the algorithm. With that second point, I made, just create a little notion page or google doc and write down 5 improvements for the next video, aim for at least 1 of them to make it into the next video, one improvement over a video every week or every other in my case is a lot better than non at all.

    Only Xbox fanboys and PC fanboys say exclusives are bad because they don’t have good exclusives and want PlayStation games. Exclusives are great, if you Xbox and PC guys want PlayStation games so badly get a PS5. I didn’t sit around crying about Gears not being on PS, I just got a Series X.

    Seems like a large barrier of entry, no wonder mobile gaming and free to play gaming is taking off. With a large competition for entertainment and other options, gaming has to try much harder to be appealing. Social media reviews, feedback, and word of mouth now seems to drive a games success. For me personally I don't buy woke games with ugly female characters, so I don't get why western devs are pushing it, they are just digging their own graves. Go woke go broke. Enjoy the layoff devs.

      I don't think you can be thinking of the same game by miles. The game had the most content out of any game across the board. The next game to come out ended up needing to remove pokemon as didn't want to add the same amount of pokemon to the game.

      @@Exiled7 the next games after that were sun and moon. And then ultra sun and moon. You are talking about sword and shield, 2 gens later. X and y had a lack luster story, it was the easiest game in the series, no dedicated 3rd game to wrap up all the loose ends, no real endgame, the lowest amount of new Pokemon a new game has introduced, and I could go on. I loved the introduction of mega evolutions, and the jump to 3D, but the game started a bad trend of little to no exploration, hand holding gameplay, and too many cutscenes.
      Black and white and black and white 2 had amazing stories, great worlds, memorable characters, and lots of great pokemon.
      That's awesome you love x and y, and I did too to an extent, but it really needed Pokemon Z 😅
