Nepal was never a Hindu country to start with. Hindu culture and Hindu caste system started to enter Nepal with the arrival of the Licchavis.
The first Brahmins entered Nepal with the Licchavis army.
It is now known that Chyasal, in northern Patan was one of the main battlegrounds where the Kirati armies came face to face against the Licchavis army.
It was in Chyasal where 800 Kirati soldiers died while protecting Kathmandu valley from the Licchavis.
Had Kiratis stood and defeated the Licchavis from overtaking Kathmandu valley, today the history of Nepal would have been very different.
There would have been NO Hindu caste system in Nepal. There would still be a lot of Buddhist and Kirati shrines and statues in the valley and other parts of Nepal today.
But just too bad the Kiratis were outnumbered and defeated by the Licchavis who came in a large number from northern India.
