  • Hi yall, I'm Leo Kuga!!!
    I am a Japanese VTuber from the agency of Neo-Porte!

    [How To Enjoy VCT for Beginners]
    ===========================
    Have you ever found yourself lost when watching VCT / Pro games?
    You're not alone, because pro level games are actually so extremely complicated and picture perfect that it looks like a different game being played compared to our ranked games!
    Today I will help yall who have trouble understanding or following VCT games to enjoy this amazing content to the fullest!
    ①Look at the OUTLINE Colors
    The spectators have to track and try and find action and kills, which causes the screen to switch super fast. A lot people watching VCT find it difficult to find the team they are rooting for and are often confused on who they are watching because of how often the camera switches. In order to counter this, I will teach yall 1 tip that will help you follow what is going on and what team you are watching!
    Its simple: Look at the color of the OUTLINES.
    Attack = Red
    Defense = Green
    The UI for the VCTs are very considerate, as there are many aspects of the UI that show what color to look for. For example, the color next to the logo, the HP bars of the players, the kill feed. They all are the same color that point to them being either Attack (red) or Defense (green).
    Once you have confirmed which color your team is, pay attention to that color.
    The silhouette / outline of the character and it's hand model will glow in that color, so you will know whether you are watching the team you are supporting or the enemy team!
    ②Advantages and Disadvantages through MAP PICKS
    In valorant, the usual series in a BO3, where the teams play 3 maps and the first to win 2 wins the series.
    The maps are picked by both teams choosing maps they want to play, and want to ban, until there are only 3 maps left.
    The map that teams pick are usually maps that they have the most confidence in, or maps that they think the opponent has holes in, so it is fun to considering which team picked which map, while watching.
    ③Understanding the flow of the game (simplified)
    In a pro game, the most used, effective and safe way to attack is called a Default.
    There are 3 steps to a round using a default;
    1. Early Round - Take important areas around the map, to confuse and fake the opponent so they don't know where you want to go. In this step, the attackers will also try to destroy sentinel utility, so it makes it even harder to know where the attackers might be.
    2. Mid Round - Using the info from the early round area pressure, the attackers find weak points in the enemies defense and group up to hit that site.
    3. Late Round - After grouping up, the attackers can finally now enter the site and plant the spike, and reposition into the after plant positions.
    It is fun to see all these steps play out in the game, as different teams have different approaches using the same steps, and understanding this could help you elevate your gameplay as well as having fun, so I recommend trying to spot these steps while watching!
    ④Importance and Priority of ULTIMATE ORBS
    Having Ultimates in a pro game, especially strong ones, almost ensures winning the round.
    Therefore, when someone with a strong ULT such as Kayo, Viper and Killjoy, teams will most likely fight for an ULTIMATE ORB.
    The enemy team however, will not want any strong Ultimates to come online, so they will fight to stop them taking it as well... so when teams are 1 off a strong ultimate, they will almost always be a big fight for one.
    ⑤Timeouts / Technical Pauses
    The team that calls the timeout gets around 1 min to speak with the coach of the team and go over a plan to get them out of a sticky situation.
    Although the enemy team does not get to speak with their coach, they can predict that something that they had not seen before or something tricky may be coming their way in the next round or so.
    Technical pauses on the other hand, will not be undone until the technical issue that called it has been fixed. All players also cannot move or even talk to each other during a tech pause, so unlike timeouts, no team can craft any plans and communicate it to each other.
    However, tech pauses are usually extremely long, so teams that are feeling it might cool down...
    ⑥Conclusion
    This was a short guide to how to enjoy watching VCT to its fullest, I left quite a few things out but I wanted to keep this as simple as possible so it is quick and easy to understand. I hope it helps out anyone confused or anyone who wanted to understand how pro games work a little more!
