My 1997 1500 GMC Savana high top conversion van is an amazing camper project van. Solid truck!! Doing some custom add ons this year, upgrading the suspension with an extra rear spring and a taller front coil, will changing the stock 15” rims to 16” rims and larger all terrain tires cause any new problems? Also doing high flow cats and dual exhaust to let the 5.7 breath with less restriction. This van already out drives the transit, the pro master, and the sprinter. Don’t know why Chevy/GMC has not gotten in the high roof van battle????
I had a 2015 version. It hasn't changed. It has some really nice features. The big TV was nice. The seats are AMAZING. I would spend all day driving and stay completely comfortable the entire time. GM has been making really good cars and trucks over the last 15 years. They however, have not put any of the new technology into the Savana or Express platforms. Explorer puts a lot of nice things inside an ancient platform. The steering is extremely heavy and clunky. While all of the stuff Explorer adds is nice and again the seats are extremely comfortable, it doesn't hold up to kids. After 6 months, i had trim pieces coming off and window shades that wouldnt work. If you have an issue with the conversion stuff, it has to go back to Explorer. The GMC dealership won't touch that stuff. I traded it in a year and a half after i bought it...trade in was almost half of the sticker price. Went with a Nissan NV3500. Felt like I was going over to the dark side. (always been a GM guy). THe Nissan is very bare bones, but functional. It's built on the Titan frame, so it's more like a truck than a van. After 3 years, nothing has broken off and everything still works.
I didn’t know they still make them it’s always been my dream to own one!! Wow it’s still the same way!! I just wish the body change still looks like in the 90’s also the seats look like vinyl seat and the dash same old dash!! It’s a beautiful Van but still look the same old van that I been wanted since I was teenager I’m 50 years old guys. Please GMC redesigned the Van make more modern and no one use dvd no more, put an Xbox or PlayStation also make the middle seat rotate and add a table hidden on the floor. Also the las seat make it that you can lay back completely flat. I have a lot more ideas.
These Vans are very nice I would get this before an Escalade but they look the same for the last couple of years they could modernize the front the headlights the tail lights bigger daytime running lamps bigger radio screen more modern instrument cluster then I would definitely buy one
Same body style since 1997 and the grille & dash were changed for 2003 to what is for 2020. For some stupid reason, they did away with the optional driver side rear doors.
I like it the way it is. It is roomy, looks good and drives awesome. Better than those Ford front wheel drive vans that I have driven. Those are less roomy and very unstable at highway speeds and much more so in bad road or weather conditions.
I need a matte black digital camouflage painted, windows blacked out with a wheelchair laísta and front passenger seat removed. Black rims too please. Oh, I’m tetraplegic so I gots no money either.
I LOVE!!!!!! CHEVY GMC!!! But y'all need to quit playing around with folks on the interior🤔 I like many others would love to see something spectacular instead of gauges and knobs from the 96 savanna. I have an idea for your center console and cluster that would be AMAZING and I'm sure others do to... However that hefty price tag deserves some next gen mods!!!
I've noticed the rear only has 2 air vents on back that's not enough for such big vehicle and its passengers I saw 2010 and it has 7 air vents on rear 6 on roof and 1 rear left panel
Everyone complaining how these vans look dated and such have probably never driven the newer Euro style vans from Ford Dodge and even Mercedes. Reason I bring driving into the equation never mind the modern looks of those is that those new style of vans being front wheel drive and such are ridiculously unstable driving at high speeds like while on interstate highways. To me the safety factor of these old yet relatively stable driving of these older vans is more important than stupid looks specially while carrying passengers.
I bought my 2019 GMC Explorer in August here in Seattle. I have to tell you I worked with the Explorer guys in Indiana who answered tons of questions before I went to the dealership. We've had our 9 passenger up and down the coast and to Canada - about 6k+ miles already. Here's why: - I took out one seat in the first row nearest the door, that made it hugely easy to get in and out and add/remove stuff. Next I took out both captains chairs (stored nicely) from the last row. Then I edged the folddown rear seat and folded it down and we put a queen size foam mattress on it. It is funner than an RV, easier to drive, and very sturdy. Plus I don't have to worry about Septic, batteries, frozen pipes, empty tanks, leaks, squeaks, etc. We just get in it and go and when we stop we have no reason to hurry. It quietly camps overnight practically anywhere. The difference in the 7p and the 9p is about 20 inches or the width of your keyboard, but it does make it feel a lot more roomy, for sure. Tons of people have seen it and all love it ...our little sleeper in the back is just the ticket for us. Hope this helps...its pricey but it rolls very quiet (noise dampers in the walls and flooring) . Not paid for this but its true we love it and very glad to have made the step up. John (60, Seattle, WA)
I have the same thing, but a chevy. There is no room for storage, the van does not hold up well everything is junk.Had to replace a few thing already, and it only has 7000 miles not worth it.
Im getting early to mid 2000s vibe from this
I'm glad they still make them like this.
Tbh I’m surprised they still even make these. The interior is beautiful. No wonder they’re still around
Gm keep it simple because it works if you want a promblem go buy another van
😒

Love this look hope they never change !
Literally saw it this morning and fell in love, have to go check it out
Dated interior and dash. The round speakers for the rear reminded me of 80s vans. Modem grill covers could update that look.
Jim Cole Dated exterior too
Nostalgia for us.
Ehh Guess Your Right Need A Beefy Bumper Guard To Set Things Off
This needs to hang out with the Nissan Frontier 😜
That is one sharp van. Great job!
Love it! Don't care if it looks outdated.
Can’t wait to see the old heads roll up in these
The Travel Van from G M C is Excellent and the 🔊🔊music is awesome !
These are very reliable and best in class economy !
Have you drive a transit ? They get way better fuel economy.
@@Jonathan-tb6fm I have. different class !

I honestly didn't know they still made vans like this. A lot yall mamas and grandma's got knock down in vans like these back in the day.
I bet you were conceived in one of these.
@@leehancock2782 Actually my dad is an entrepreneur, has always been well paid so it was probably in the back of his Corvette 😂

Yeah I think those are so 90’s. The sprinter has taken over the market

this looks great for a 2008 model, dashboard looks so old, what happened to adding modern digital displays?

sleekwillie looks the same as 20 years!
I doesn’t need one, I take it as is minus rear bench seat. I need that space for coolers
That's ok the old is the better.

The only difference between a 2010 and a 2020 is the flat screen tv! 👍🏽 GM standard!
Ultimate Airline passenger hauler ... still.
Just curious who is this vehicle marketed to? Families or corporate use or shuttle??
Looks awesome
Can it be configured for 9 people??
i want to take this home then do a complete conversion..
It looks dated maybe because it's based on the commercial GMC Savana? But I will say the 6L V8 and the Duramax drive so good in these
I love this van price??? Thanks
I want this van bad👍😃
At least give it the nose of a Yukon and escalade taillights
Imagine telling ur homies this a 2020 they not gone believe u 😂

Updated front end would put this luxury cruiser over the top

Is that only 7 seater? It looks huge, I was expect more seating.
nimanna this is a 9 passenger van. 3 rows of captain seats and a bench in the back
What about the GMC Safari...
GMC/Chevy makes the best, most reliable vans. Why don’t they update the look and make some factory hightop vans, like Sprinters?
Savage Audits cause those vans suck and they have no space for real size people.
If it ain't broke don't fix it. 💯
It is just like my 2008
I want To buy where is the showroom
super sa goal

There is enough ventilation in the van. I drive one every day of my life.
I’m laughing so hard 🤣🤣🤣 these folks over at gm thought they got a gwagon on their hands..😂😂 like cmon
Why don't I see the camera man in the reflections? This worries me...
Ok.thank you
looking to purchase a van next year (2021), what color is this one?

1995 called and wants it’s body cladding back!

It just looks like a 2004 but pimped out
How much
Ain't nothin 2020 about that van
Looks like a 2007 with a new paint I WILL RATHER HAVE A SPRINTER
Sprinters are rust buckets, total crap.

Those interior door handles are from the 90s GM vehicles and they broke off way too much.
