He felt that she was 20yo/too young to bear such burden & maybe their time together were not long enough although he promised & committed to marry her within months. On the other hand, she (a daughter & eldest) have rural upbringing by a conservative 1-family-man father who didn't remarry due to devotion to his children. With this background & subconscious/mindset, she didn't hesitate to commit herself to marry (& care even in sickness) for life the man she loves, admires & fully trust at young age of 20yo innocently. Although they didn't manage to marry, she has committed in her heart. This should be why she still wore her ring & remained faithful blindly for 4y.
Who says Lichuan should tell her what was happening with his health, calling him egoist, I realy recommend them to watch the drama a few more times to understand his reasons to act like that. Lichuan didn't want to hurt her as he loves her so much and his intentions was to marry her. He even try at home to knell down with the ring on his hand , when he attended his brother telling him he should return to Swisserland next day. He looks so sad that his sorrow made me cry a lot. They both are realy in love, a true and real love that noone can raise their pain . Beautiful yet very sad love story wgich i recommend to everybody to watch. I am watching it again and after watching uncountless times. I am now at episode 10 and cryed already when he said good bye to her. The most sad news is to find out that Godfrey Gao, performing Lichuan had realy died on real and fiction life, while filming for a chinese reality show called Chase Me, with a hearth attack. Rest in Peace GG in Heaven. We all will miss you but you will never be forgotten on that fatitic day 27th November 2019, 3 years after Remembering Lichuan, now we should say Remembering Godfrey Gao.
the strength of alex and annie chemistry is something they would have been two if li chuan hardn't deid in real life maybe they were the ones who stayed together,they would have had a child now, i miss you Li chuan,

I don't know which book this drama was based on but ohhh how hurting! Li Chuan expected Annie to move on but how would someone do that if there isn't any closure! Also each one kind of loves Li Chuan but am thinking he was so unfair! He should have let her know the situation and give her a chance to choose. He would have maybe survived, coz most times he would skip medical attention coz he wanted to be near Annie....ohhh maybe he was to eventually just die but what's tragic ending! Glad they gave us the beautiful ending of Annie's book after Li Chuan changed the ending.
