I think that is true of most TV relationships. That's why the writers of Friends broke up Ross and Rachel. Its also why The Nanny only lasted one more season after Fran and Maxwell get together. And there's the whole Moonlighting curse regarding will they/won't they couples. Movies usually end after the happily ever after, but TV shows keep going so seeing the actual relationship isn't as interesting/fun/endorphin-inducing as the buildup.
