Ive always thought more attention should be given to the mommies...but i get that its exciting to have a new calf. So the moms dont tend to get he attention the babies get. And it makes me feel for the moms. But lacey and you to mike did an amazing job lovin on May and telling her what a good job she did. She appeared to be roud for a few clips there.. It just warmed my heart!❤🥰

Ask your 4-H dairy extension agent or a dairy club member to teach you the secure, but quick-release knot. Colostrum has IGG's. The IGG receptors shut down completely by 24 hours post-birth. Best to get colostrum in calf in the first 3 hours.

I grew up on a farm so never had the first baby ever excitement. You guys did just fine and your enthusiastic excitement was so cool. Give her a few days before you milk Mae for yourself. This will allow those two to get into a routine. Keep feeding Mae as per your routine. Jerseys give a lot of milk and the calf may have a preference on which quarters she likes. You can then milk the others quarters for you. Teach the calf to lead and tie by her mama at milking time and when she gets bigger she will be easier to train. Congratulations!!!!
