I spent a few months there in 1997 as an inmate and actually did some of the tuckpointing outside the West Annex House. A little known fact Mr.T had an older brother who was one of the senior officers there and was pretty close to retirement at that time. Lot of energy in that building.

Still some areas we did not see or even get to, its just too much to cover in time we were alloted. Still had an awesome time and a great experience getting to collaborate with and see Jon in action, he has been one of my channel inspirations since my channel went live almost 2 years ago

Great video. T.y 4 taking the time to go n in showing the prison n posting it on utube I was shocked that didn't look like a prison other then the bars u would think it was a hotel. They had band equipment. But my question is what where they doing with those target practice. Is it for gun practice or Arrowhead. What are they used 4 does any one know. But the crazy thing is the fireplace I know that it was built in the 1800 did the add heat 4 the inmates I know the inmates wasn't using it. LOL

Roughly 3 mins of The Blues Brother's movie, the beginning only, was filmed near the prison. They opened a door that hadn't been used in years. The inside was not filmed. The rest of the movie was filmed in other areas of Illinois.

I work around the corner from the prison, never heard of it until i started working in Joliet 5 years ago. I would get an uneasy feeling driving bye. My coworkers mom worked at what use to be the morgue accross the street and was there when the remains / bodies of Gacys victims arrived. (Or so she says) 😂 Joliet has a lot of interesting history.

That a nice jail. If it was kept up. it was nicest prison in the USA they had band equipment which no prison has now. N I know why because they would use it for a weapon. When grew up I was taught to fight with your hands. If u used a weapon you are a coward unless the person had a weapon then it was ok but u had to offer to fight with your hands. 👊

Interesting video to watch. I personally did a 5 year stretch in Joliet in the early 90s. Place was no picnic hell on earth. Place will break you mentally 22 hour a day lock downs. The cells were 2 mans cells so imagine 2 men in that small room. Be interesting to tour with one of the old guards. They didn't play screw up and your getting beat down. Thanks for the video

Only times we were on lockdown is when fights happened and usually it wasn't for the long, week or two. The summer's in the west house were brutal. The heat and the noise will make a man go insane. I seen a guy thrown off the side of 8 gallery on to 6 gallery. Not sure what he did but I didn't care but the weird thing I remember was when he landed on 6 gallery, a couple of CO and a older captain named Douglas started beating on the guy. Never seen the inmate again.

Hello John, not capturing much, but I did see an orb at 18:30 a tiny one after you said "can you make that noise again?". Interested to see, but not haunted.

At 18:30 small spirit orb runs down the hallway and around that corner passed the windows on the right

Hi John, I really enjoy your videos I hope you are around for a long time but I fear you might end up making yourself very sick by not wearing a mask in alot of the places you visit. Please be safe. Hay we share the same birthday! August 9th different year. Happy belated Birthday! Take care of yourself and keep up the good work. Love, Ramona G.

Inmate Dining Room and the kitchen. Great assignment! Middle Gates was hell though.
Worked there 93 to close, you couldn’t pay me to go in there at night. I KNOW it’s haunted.

As to what I was saying durring the live video
My mom was freinds with gacys ex wife. My sister and I were freinds with his ex wife's daughters. They were at my brothers first birthday party
My brothers father was offered a job by gacy. Gacy had left the message with busha. But she forgot to give Ron the message. Only remembered when she saw him on the news
If you are unaware that's how gacy made contact with a lot of his victims

Also that first ever built cell use to not have a top on it it was just bars they put a top on it after they closed it and started to let the tourist in as to not offend their sensibilities just thought you'd like to know that as well

These girls from my hometown tried to go there & thought they were cool shutting one of the old prison cells & taking pics. One of the girls got locked in & the other girl had to leave to go get the police/fire dept to get her out.

Didn't they use this prison as the back drop or flip location for the TV show prison break?

Am I missing something here? I've yet to see one turlet John. Where did they go? No cell has one.
