subtitles make this very interesting, esp the god of Missouri
I really like the gods featured in Pathfinder; it's one of several reasons I prefer that setting to D&D. They're all very well-developed and interesting, sometimes even surprising and original.
Now I really wanna see him look at and review Spheres of Power, Path of War, and Ultimate Psionics 3rd party products.
You are right about Mythic Adventures, Pathfinder already gives you so many powers to manage and this book seems to double them.
I would like to get your take on D&D5E. I have read the books that are out but havent had a chance to play them, I was hoping for something a little more ground breaking but still seems like it would be fun.
Solid review! Mythic Adventures is quite heavily tied to the Wrath of the Righteous adventure path, other support for the mythic rules is pretty slim. And as conversion of the non-mythic material to mythic requires also quite much work the usefulness of the book is not so great as it could have been.
I once had a guy try to sell me on Exalted while he made and ate an entire mixing bowl of mac and cheese and hotdog chunks. I can never disassociate the game from the grossed out feeling I had watching him turn into the avatar of gluttony.
Personally have been watching this channel forever, but I can't wait for his review of D&D 5e...I agreed totally with his 4e review way back when, however 5e seems to offer all the core things that 4e, PF/3/3.5 players and even AD&D players want... I wonder what he thinks...
Dawnforge is such an awesome setting. It would be great if someone did a PF update for it.
Back in 1E we just became high level, multi-class characters that killed gods as a hobby. :)
The Mythic book does sound interesting.
We are getting close, most of the machine is ordered.
Thanks to all!!!!!!
luv the intro music.
You should check out/review Castles and Crusades. Also are you going to do a D&D 5th review?
I have both and consider Mythic to be more useful. I use it to plan campaigns actually.
I agree completely with Kurts review on Inner Sea Gods. It's a pretty good book and I recommend it to all Pathfinder fans. Mythic Adventures not so much imo. The rules are badly designed. The monster do not scale well with the players as they go up Mythic tiers. If you don't beleive me go on the Paizo forums and look at the Wrath of The Righteous section.
Interesting review. I don't use Pathfinder but I can see how those books would be of use to those who do play it.
I would also be interested in seeing what you think of D&D 5th edition given your very subtle criticisms of 4th edition :p I would also love to see what you think of Dragon Age although that is probably best waiting till the all in one rulebook comes out. Also Fortune's Fool as it has the fairly unique mechanic of using a tarot deck for task resolution and its a deck the GM never touches.
Kurt, why do you have trouble naming EXALTED? The game is very wufu i know but it's one of the best storytelling system games, with good combat system & great story focus, especially 2nd edition, i don't know if 3th edition is that good.
Are you planning on review D&D 5th edition?
I think you might want look at 5th edition it feel more like OD&D than last few id-
rations
Gracias, buena reseña.
I run a weekly Pathfinder campaign and even without the Mythic Adventures book my group is getting plenty headachy for me to handle (they're currently lvl 11, soon 12). Adding in Mythic Adventures would likely bring their overpoweredness (err, that's a word, right? Right.) to stupidly silly new levels. On the other hand, adding elements of the book to some of the major bosses would be pretty nice, gives them a nice edge to even the field a little. Also makes sense since they're supposed to be wielders of ancient magic that's been lost to the world.
Too much stuff! Crunch, clunk, crunch! That`s why I don`t run games in d20 systems anymore.
Ninjazombie42
Yup. Low level d20 is reasonably doable, but once the PCs gets a few levels under their wing it can rapidly spiraling out of control if you're not careful. Too many crazy spells and abilities that have weird synergies. On the bright side (sort of...) all the PC are about equally OP, so at least they're not outshining each other. :P
Same here...been recently wrapping up a 2yr long PF campaign and there is TOO MUCH IS PF. It's bloated and to have fun you have to limit the books as a GM. My group will be starting 5e soon though, and I gotta say, I take back every nasty curse I gave it during the playtest...Wizards finally listened to ALL the true Roleplaying fans.
What is wrong with Exalted? I will be the first to admit that it can be real easy to break the system, and make a character that is beyond OP, and figuring out the game mechanics is clunky and cumbersome, but sometimes it is fun to play a character with the power of ten grinches, plus two.
why whats your beef with Exalted?
Your players want to be holdings, throw a god at them!
Cenobite of Maple
syrup.
Lol. Exalted does blow.
EXAAAAAAAAAL- *ghugh* EXAAAAAAL- *grulgh*... .... nevermind...
Unfortunately I can't really recommend Mythic Adventures. Paizo screwed up the rules. Player characters depending on what Mythic options they take as they go up in level rise in damage and power very fast. Made worse that the Mythic npcs don't seem to scale as fast as the pcs. Don't beleive me go on the Paizo forum and check out the Wrath of the Righteous AP thread. Good idea bad implementation on the part of Paizo.
