Movie Summary:
Under cover of night, vampires engage in an age-old battle with their sworn enemies, the Lycans, a clan of violent werewolves. Selene (Kate Beckinsale), a vampire orphaned in the wake of a bloody Lycan attack, works for the vampire clan as a trained killer. I agree to a certain extent, yet this movie came out in 2003 right, it was three years before I was born, my parents were early in their marriage, and they went to watch it in the cinema. When they came out, they saw it was a smash hit in the box office, and people were unexpectedly pleased by it. Truth be told, this first one is REALLY good

Michael's design is one of the dopest supernatual designs imo. It's simple but effective and just looks cools to me..

This is geeky as hell but it's literally the concept of super saiyan 2, it's got all the power of a Lycan with the size of a Vampire, a perfect mix of power without having to sacrifice speed because you're huge.
I think his design in the second one was a little bit more doper

3:14, Fun fact this big black dude in the coat is actor and screenwriter Kevin Grevioux. He and the director wrote the screenplay for this movie.
Kevin has a background in microbiology and genetic engineering. It was his idea to make the vamps and lycans less supernatural and more like mutations.

Fun fact...Michael Sheen (Lucian) is the same actor that played Aro in the Twilight Saga. He's been both a werewolf and a vampire.
Lycan refers to Lycanthropy, which is the name given to the disease that makes them.
This movie had a production budget of $22 million.

Ive watched every single underworld movie for at least 12 times each , absolutely adore this movie and I think if they merged these vampires with the shifters of twilight, this movie wouldnt be so underrated. The Underworld franchise is probably my favorite franchise of all time. And the budget for this movie was 22 million, but the total budget for all five is 207 million and they made all together 539 million.

I watch this franchise every 3-6 months or so. All will be revealed about Lucian, Victor, the Vampires and the Lycans. Michael Sheen who plays Lucian is also in the Twilight franchise, the show The Prodigal Son and a whole bunch of other stuff.

If I’m not mistaken I believe the official term for werewolf is lycanthrope and the term for the illness lycanthropy which is why they’re called lycans in the series

Also werewolves in the franchise are the first kind and once they turned they couldn't turn back lycans are the werewolves Descendants that can turn back into their human form

I've watched this movie at least around 10 times. I like to revisit it due to playing an RPG called Vampire: The Masquerade.
In fact, the company that produces the RPG game has sued the producers and studio of this movie, because you can really tell how much they kinda "copied" from the RPG game.
But it's a great movie. Much better if you're into this kind of genre.

I grew up watching this franchise with my mom and I’m obsessed with them. This and blade were my first introduction to supernatural movies and they will always be my favorite. My gf refuses to watch ‘em’ but I’ll wear her down eventually.
I love me some Bill Nighy. He's so over the top as Viktor yet somehow sells it so well.
I watched this when I was a teenager and recently re watched it at 35 lol. Have to say some of the other movies aren’t as good as the first, does get a bit repetitive but I just love Selene.

Yeah I kind of agree I think the movies after the first 2 and the prequel were sub-par.
No man, in this franchise, the werewolves are the line of William (Marcus' twin). They can never return to human form little more than wild animals. Lycans are of the line of Lucian, he was born human to a pregnant werewolf he and anymore of his line has control over their transformations except for the beginning under the influence of the full moon.

-These guys aren't werewolves, that's why they aren't called that. An easy way to remember the difference is Lycans can change at will and Werewolves can only change during a full moon. Werewolves are born from another werewolf or a Lycan biting them while Lycan's are born human and only turn into wolves. Lycans have complete control of their bodies and actions, Werewolves don't. Lycans are considered and believed to be smarter than Werewolves as well. Lycans are stronger. Lycans can be killed by force, while a werewolf is killed by silver in the heart. Lycans are Greek mythology in nature while werewolves are Old English folklore.

I'm not sure if anybody has mentioned it yet but there are werewolves in this series not just the Lycans the difference is that the werewolves stay in their Beast form meanwhile Lycans can change from Beast to Human

These are the best movies about Vampires by far.... the vampire diaries is the best series ...by far...yea I am a lil bias xause I played an extra in 20 episodes over the seasons.....and THE ORIGINALS Joseph morgan/Klaus is still one of my best friends to this day
While I like Vampire Diaries for me True Blood is easily the best vampire series. When you have a sitting president at the time it was on (Obama) commenting on how good the show is You know you’ve made a killer show.

I definitely have watched these movies multiple times. I tend to watch the second one more, like at least once a year, and the first and third ones pretty equally after that. The last two aren't as good, IMO. But very much an underrated series overall. These movies, along with Van Helsing, are my top tier comfort faves.
