- Benidorm In Winter | Old Town and Tapas Alley Walking Tour
Benidorm's Old Town, a holiday destination that holidaymakers travel to with excitement and a tourist hotspot with shops, restaurants and bars.
Old Town Benidorm is a captivating and historically rich area nestled within the vibrant heart of this famous Spanish holiday resort, offers a delightful counterpoint to the modern, high-rise dominated landscape and bustling beaches that often define Benidorm.
Imagine stepping away from the contemporary energy and venturing into a labyrinth of narrow, winding streets, a true journey back in time. Here, whitewashed buildings, adorned with vibrant splashes of color from overflowing flower boxes and intricately designed balconies, create a truly picturesque and authentic Spanish scene. It's a place where the air feels different, where the pace slows down, and where the echoes of history whisper from the ancient stones.
Known locally as "El Casco Antiguo," this historic quarter breathes a traditional Spanish atmosphere. It's not just a place to visit; it's a place to experience, to immerse yourself in the local culture, and to discover the hidden gems that lie tucked away around every unexpected corner. The very heart of the Old Town pulses with the presence of the iconic Church of San Jaime and Santa Ana, a beautiful 18th-century church. Its distinctive and instantly recognizable blue-tiled dome stands proudly against the azure sky, a beacon of history and faith. The church's intricate architecture and serene atmosphere offer a moment of tranquility amidst the lively energy of the surrounding streets.
As you delve deeper into the maze of the Old Town, you'll inevitably stumble upon the Mirador del Castillo, a breathtaking viewpoint perched on a rocky promontory that juts out into the sparkling Mediterranean Sea. From this privileged vantage point, you can drink in panoramic views that stretch for miles, encompassing the vast expanse of the sea, the dramatic coastline, and the sprawling cityscape of Benidorm itself. It's the perfect spot to pause, to capture stunning photographs that will forever remind you of the beauty of the region, and to simply soak in the sun-drenched atmosphere.
The Old Town is also a haven for those who appreciate the pleasures of good food and drink. Traditional tapas bars, each with its own unique character and specialties, line the narrow, cobbled streets, beckoning you to sample a mouthwatering array of local delicacies. From the freshest seafood, caught that very morning, to the rich and flavorful paella, cooked to perfection with generations of family secrets, the culinary delights of Benidorm are best experienced in this charming and authentic part of town. The aromas of garlic, spices, and freshly baked bread mingle in the air, creating an irresistible invitation to indulge.
And as the sun begins to dip below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, the Old Town transforms once again. It awakens with a vibrant and exciting nightlife scene, offering a diverse mix of traditional bars, where you can sip local wines and chat with friendly locals, and modern clubs, where you can dance the night away to the latest music. Whether you're seeking a taste of history and culture, a culinary adventure that tantalizes your taste buds, or simply a leisurely and relaxing stroll through a charming and quintessentially Spanish neighborhood, Benidorm's Old Town is an absolute must-visit destination. It's a place that will capture your heart and leave you with lasting memories of your time in this dynamic and multifaceted Spanish city.

Great to see you back with some more of Benidorm and looking at the local shops, restaurants, bars and other interesting places. I'm going to enjoy
exploring and seeing Benidorm again thank you and have a nice weekend.
☕👍🧋🇪🇸
Wonderful! Thank you! I didn't want that to end!
Thank you 🙏
Love you're channel hopefully we'll be there next year touring in our Motorhome.
Great stuff - it's so good here!
Am here right now and it's brilliant fun!
Tapas Alley is now SO touristy, and expensive. When you were in front of Ale Hop, you should have carried straight on and gone in where you saw the sign for a huge paella. There are tapas places there. Zodiac - 6 tapas and a bottle of Cava or wine 8 euros or Taperia Lamina 6 bigger tapas and a bottle of cava or wine 12 euros. We avoid those places along tapas alley as most of them are owned by the same company. My advice to anyone is find the smaller places where the Spaniards go - far better value and atmosphere. Also find tapas circle down near Restaurants Monterey and LaCana - tapas bars in a semi circle. Forget tapas alley and savour proper tapas.
Agreed - well said
This walking tour was just wonderful.
Thanks so much!
We'll be there next week! Can't wait!
It's so good
I'm here now - loving it
Staying another week!
Without my laptop bursting into flames I wish the warm sunlight would translate through the screen, feeling blooming baltic today and a radiator just isn't the same 🤣🤣
I had holidays in Benidorm last year. With hiking on the puig Campana. Hot but fun. I love the Mountains in the Backlands there. I have a few Videos of these areas as well on my channel.
The weather is great, but it looks so boring , folks wandering aimlessly around.
It’s the least boring place on planet earth to be fair 🤣
