- I've wanted to build a rack for all of my tools for a very long time and finally it's finished.
If you're familiar with how the workshop used to look, I built the tool rack using all the wood from the shelving racks that used to be in the corner.
A separate video is available of the matching apothecary bench the rack is sat on.

The wood was free, the tools cost a fortune, the skill and talent are priceless. Wonderful.
Well said
One minute you think you’re a pretty good woodworker, the next you’re taking notes and being humbled by this dude making a gorgeous cabinet with a hammer and nails with what looks like firewood while making his own crown moulding with shoulder planes. Beautiful work sir, and very inspiring! #imnotworthy
"firewood"?
Or kindling?
This guy is the ultimate recycler.
There is no firewood, this is material
Very true, but perhaps you are an outstanding woodworker as well. That is one of the most amazing beauties of life. You never have to stop learning things because there is so much knowledge in the world.
🤣@@jaswats9645
FORGET cooking contest shows and the like........They should have Woodworking Olympics!!!!! And this year again, The GOLD Medal goes to.......THIS GUY!!!!!!!
This man has probably forgotten more carpentry skills than most people will ever learn! Thank you sir, for letting us see a true master craftsman at work.
First of all, Studley would be proud of that. Secondly, thank you so much for your videos! This is exactly my kind of woodworking video - no loud, obnoxious music, "quick cut" editing or even talking. Instead, peaceful, enjoyable, educational and entertaining - well done sir and thank you again.
There is a special place in heaven for people like you. And Studley will be waiting at the gates with open arms and cup a tea.
Thanks very much :)
Yes, the Museums should be placing the pre-pay some day acquisition fees now.
I am AMAZED absolutely beautiful work. You are a true old world craftsman. My hat is off to you Sr.
This guy is really into shelf care.
In all seriousness I think your tool rack should be seen in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. You are VERY talented man. I will be here for every video!
Thanks very much :)
This is the first of his videos I've seen and at first I was thinking (besides "I didn't know Steven King made wood working video.") was, "Who is this jerk? He's hammering nails with a ball peen hammer, cutting dadoes with a regular blade and his cross cut sled is made of old 2x8's". But as I watched him work I became amazed at his skills. And I started to drool over his collection of hand tools; even more so when I saw how expertly he used them. My skills are pretty sad in comparison. Thanks for the video!
So much shame outward and inward can’t be healthy. No reason to compare your enjoyment from a hobby to someone else’s. Both are valid.
I started watching this video and thought the same thing about how he looked like Stephen King at first. Glad to see I'm not the only one. LOL
ball *pein hammer. (Although he's using a cross pein hammer!)
He’s UK based and Health & Safety says we’re not to be trusted with Dado stacks over here which is why we have to it with multiple passes
@@ReNcEsTaR then do like we do here in America and say it’s no one’s damn business if I have a stacked blade set or not and buy it anyways.
I’ve been a woodworker for 47 years. When you pulled out that Stanley 55 you reminded me of years ago when I had to duplicate mouldings on a historic house. My arms felt like they would fall off. This has been one of the most satisfying videos I’ve seen on TH-cam. Great job 👍
Thanks very much.
I can't imagine how much work it was doing a whole house worth of mouldings. Hard enough just doing one cabinet :)
What a beautiful piece! Thank you for sharing! My eight year old daughter will love watching this with me tonight at bedtime.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again - you sir are completely insane.😉 And thank God for that! How you manage to continue to be that dedicated, focused, and detail oriented, I can't even begin to fathom.
Thank you so much for sharing your insane talent with us. This build is incredible, as usual.🤩
And people say pallet wood is crap wood,,,, not with this guy, he can do anything with them 👍🏻
Thanks very much :)
This thing is just stunning! I'm amazed at the level of customization, and that it started as scrap wood!
I’m amazed that he can build anything out of it. I’ve tried using pallet wood very few pieces ever turned out looking like anything thing. He does amazing work.
@@plainnpretty he does sometimes use other woods from recycled products but it does depend on what pallets you use and how they’re taken apart, keep trying and good luck
I don't know whether to show my wife this video or not. She saves every piece of scrap imaginable
Your tools get more and more wow every time I watch you. You certainly deserve a wonderful tool Rack… Many!
I've been a woodworker for years, and what you do is still absolute witchcraft to me. Bravo, sir.
A RACK, JASON?! That's not a rack, that's artwork. My envy of your skills and patience has now taken on a shade of NEON green. Is it REALLY necessary to make your tool rack so beautiful that all the rest of us look like bumbling fools? I also make furniture and all sorts of stuff, but fear I will never achive such competence. Seriously, Sir Epic UpCycling, this "tool box" is something else. Blimey, I need a cognac! Autumn greetings from Mette in Norway👌💥👋
Greetings Mette, from over here in the UK :)
A place for everything and a thing for every place!❤️A man after my own heart. No drafting plan, not even a notebook drawing. You sir are a genius and a master craftsman. Well done.
Thanks very much :)
Every screw head exactly horizontal. Well played man, very well played
I think what I like best is that most of your creations are in use around your workshop, so we get to admire them over and over. You are a genius!
Thanks very much :)
Some girl want dolls and make up, some want a workshop like yours. 😊 What a beautiful piece of art! Thank you for the inspiration.
By far the best craftsman I’ve seen on TH-cam. Your work belongs in a museum as well as your tool collection. Thanks for the videos, very inspiring
Thanks very much :)
This came up randomly and I’m so glad it did, never mind up cycle it’s a work of art! This would grace any stylish hand crafted kitchen never mind a workshop. It just goes to show you with some knowledge and a huge amount of creativity and skill just what can be made from “scrap” pieces of wood. I love it it’s absolutely beautiful
@20:04 that is the coolest wood plane I've ever seen! 😮
That is a truly magnificent creation, reminiscent of the Studley tool chest. Beautifully organized and assembled!
Thanks very much :)
One thing I've been thinking abotu when it comes to Studley. What would he do differently if he had been around today, building a chest?
The main thing I can think of is the use of high strength magnets. I'm sure he would have used those. You can certainly use them in a decorative way, or you could hide them by covering
with veneer.
@@Nickle314 Oh absolutely. And what other tools may he have added to the ones he had already? Would he have added powertools? Would he have removed the casing and creating his own custom designs for them? I hope more people create artistic and aesthetically designs for utilitarian equipment.
@@DutchBarracuda I'm not sure I've seen anything approaching this cabinet, or Studley's for power tools.
diptychs, triptychs, and alters.
Search "wilton diptych"
Search "Bosch Triptych of Sinful Everyday Life"
Search "Sankt Wolfgang Altarpiece"
All examples I think of why Studley is interesting. Instead of religion, its work.
Studley Tool Chest sounds like some sort of bodybuilding pose.
Mate your level of craftsmanship and engineering is extremely impressive
Thanks very much :)
Incredible. What an amazing talent you have. All those beautiful antique tools now on display. It reminded me of my grandfathers workshop.
The collection of profile planes was the icing on the cake for me. Serious dedication to collection and keeping all these tools in use.
A master at his trade. This is not just another tool cabinet, it is a beautiful piece of woodworking art. Man am I envious! Just wondering if all those beautiful classic tools are inherited or collected, either way they now proudly display. I'm gonna hit my shop now..
As always, impressed by your old school craftmanship. Nice tools, especially the planes.
If Mary Poppins had a tool cabinet. A place for everything and everything in its place.
Very, very special. And utterly befitting such an incredible collection of tools.
Thanks very much :)
If he has kids, I hope they realize how lucky they are

The impressive part isn’t the piece of furniture by itself but the amount of tools you own to fill it completely!!!!
The craftsman as artist, the tool chest as art. Magnificent achievement as always. You never fail to impress those of us with significantly lesser abilities.
That is NOT a tool rack - THAT is a magnificent work of art!!!! You are a true craftsman - from days long gone -grateful for sharing your videos with us!!!!
Thanks very much :)
That creation was mind boggling! Would love to see the wheels turning in your head! You are AMAZING and a WOODWORKING GENIUS👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Handmade decorations????? OMG you’re awesome!!!
Nice build but that hand plane collection is the real flex here. As always, its a real pleasure to watch you work.
OMG Maestro, you have completely blown me away!! That is truly an incredible creation! Everything is at your fingertips now!!!! BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO!!! As fine as any piece of furniture as you've ever built!! Can't wait to see what you come up with next!!!!!!!
Thanks very much, Ken. I really enjoyed building this :)
First time riding a hand plane also am I the only one that loves the sound of a tuned hand plane making shavings?
Astounding. This man has designed, crafted, and erected an entire tool room division. I cannot wait to watch him build the rest of the factory! So many thanks for your work.
Well Jason you have done it again! I am at a loss for the amount of superlatives I could shower on you for this latest project. It really shows that this is a creation you have wanted for some time and I'm so glad you brought us along for the ride.
I absolutely love watching your videos for the shear creativity, skill set, knowledge and execution you show in every one.
I am officially a lifetime fan. Jane ❤
Thanks very much, Jane :)
Epic by name and Epic by nature. Never mind the build, the planning must have taken quite a while. Just masterful.
i would love to see the planning process. that's where the real, hidden genious is in this, and it *is* genious.
This could be a museum display of a craftsman's tools, as built by a craftsman. Beautiful and inspiring work!
A "tool rack" worthy of the tools that occupy it and the hands that made it!
Masterful artistry and vision.
Bravo, Jason.
Thanks Tom :)
Incredible! This is the most beautiful tool rack I have ever seen. ❤ It's like seeing the Mona Lisa in the garage... 😂
Да!
I can only imagine how satisfying this build must be for you. It’s wonderful. The arches are the perfect touch to an elegant design. 👏🏼
Thanks Eric I always enjoy watching you do your magic!
It's Jason, not Eric 🙂
Sir, that deserves a Nobel prize for Engineering!! How satisfying to watch, must be a fraction of how satisfying it was to build that and call it your own!! Superb craftsmanship! Well Done!!! 😱🤩
Thanks very much, Phil :)
I’ve commented on your work in the past , the creativity and passion you put in your work is incredible. I have dabbled in woodworking for years and without a doubt you are the best woodworker I’ve ever seen , I told a friend of mine to watch your videos after which he said he was embarrassed to call himself a carpenter he said he is an apprentice compared to you and he has been a carpenter for over 40 years, can’t wait till your next video.
One word : AMAZING ! You, sir, are amazing, and your creations are soooo inspiring, it's insane.
Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks very much :)
INCREDIBLE!! I’m a 64 yr old woman who wants to do wood working when I retire, I’m so very impressed!! Thanks for showing all of us!!
Watching Jason create these magnificent pieces is watching a masterclass in woodworking.
The Stanley plane looks like you’d need to sit a test to get a license to drive it 😲 Magnificent as always Jason , cheers👍🍻
Thanks Dunc. The Stanley is an infuriatingly complicated bit of kit to set up. Great fun, though :)
Honestly. What madman designed that thing?
Was his name Stanley perhaps?
*Fantastic timing.*
*I was just looking for something worthwhile to watch*
*I greet the Master* 👋😊
edited after viewing :
*WOW! And Thor's hammer has finally found its place to rest!*
You are truly a real carpenter. I learn so much while watching you, thank you very much. Exellant.
Thanks very much :)
im in awe of this gentleman talent
As I and many others have said before Jason, you are a real craftsman, your attention to detail is second to none and I enjoy watching your videos and creations so much. I wish I had one ounce of your patience and talent, I really do. Brilliant.
Your collection of vintage planes is phenomenal 😮
So awesome to see the camera on the plane and the shavings coming through! Awesome idea!
This turned out amazing! Just like all your other pieces, thank you
Brilliant, perfect timing, your videos always leave me in awe at your talent. They are also so relacing to watch😊
I'm always amazed by your ability to turn scrap wood that most people would just throw away into such amazing pieces of furniture. It's legitimately Insane.
This is unironically one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed
This is incredible and makes my ADHD brain SO HAPPY with the combination of everything having a place but also being able to see every single thing without having to open stuff to do so.
A craftsman in every sense of the word. Outstanding work.
Thanks :)
An absolute gem.
I am always fascinated with how much love, passion and patience you finish your works and how much attention to detail you always show.
Amazing workmanship and not a single Festool flex throughout. Awesome!
All the screw heads are perfectly aligned 🤯
I loved seeing all those old tools still being used and how well they've held up. The things those old tools have help accomplish is probably immense.
Again Jason, there are no words. We honor the Master. Thanks
I think that this cupboard, including its contents, would be better placed in my workshop than in yours in England. It looks very "unhealthy" to you. I offer myself to save you from limbo.
Great result, an absolute stunner and all made of pallet wood. Absolute winner 111
Wow! The level of craftsmanship is superb. Not to mention that most of the work is done without power tools. I didn't even know those screwdriver things existed. Your skills are from another world. I enjoyed this video like none other. Fantastic !!!
Very nice piece. Gives me the feelings of warmth/home/family/comfort/personal, like when you go into your grandfathers garage, just to smell the air.
This is another example of pure craftsmanship. I don't know how you know where everything is going to end up, but it is always spectacular! Thanks for sharing...
Just FIERCE dude!
in the first minute I was about to go looking somewhere else, but I'm glad I stayed watching. Absolutely fantastic work and from waste material makes it better still 👍👍
Thanks very much :)
What a pleasure to watch You installing your tools in this magnificent creation
My dad was a teacher, not a wood worker. He had a tiny shop just for stuff around the house. He appreciated organization and neatness as much as you do. He would have LOVED this setup! Back in the day, he had a peg board with outlines of what went where. As a kid, I thought he was a genius. I didn't know that was a common practice. His dad (a carpenter who built houses), just "threw" all his tools in the back of his van. My dad always hated that, so he wanted a tidy space. Thank you for the nice video and the great memories, too.
Seriously reminds me of Austin Powers and the factory that makes miniature models of factories. Using hand tools (mostly) to make something to hold your hand tools. It’s incredible.
I have seen you make so much beautiful stuff and still... you continue to amaze me! Thanks for sharing this. Love it.
My god that's beautiful 😍.....
To be honest I don't know what makes me feel worst: Contemplating a meticulously planned cabinet being built or the feeling of awe after you organized so many tools... Thank you for the amazing video. I learnt a lot.
Funny how youre videos become some sort of a time machine to me, without any voicover or musik i feel like the 5yr old me is watching granpa again. i can almoost smell his workshop again. Thanks for that i love it !
Yes, a new video 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Fan-bloody-tastic as usual. Nice collection of planes. That Stanley No. 55 combination plane is a work of art in itself.
Definitely my favourite :)
Another masterpiece! Thanks a lot for sharing !
He is proving, no matter the name, a tool is a tool and can be multi-purposed… I love the cabinet!
What an amazing tool storage system this is, both beautiful and functional!
Very difficult to see this as 'hand made'. Very good application of skills and tools and design. Well done
Wow, that was satisfying in so many ways. The end result is a work of art.
You nailed it. As promised, Epic.
I see what you did there
As always, you have my admiration and thanks!
Thanks very much, I really appreciate it :)
This channel is the medicine we all need some of. Please, please, keep going 🙏
Just whipped out the 55 like, "Oh, this old thing?" 😮😮😮
You Sir can do more with pallet wood than most with new wood. I thank you for your continued dedication to woodworking and for sharing your talent with everyone! Cheers!
Sweet!
UH MAY ZING!! I am awe struck. Can you come and put my crafting crap in order??? Please…??? 😁
Красота. Поражаюсь Вашему упорству и трудолюбию. Прям произведения искусства получаются. Спасибо,😊
I love the plane mounted camera shot. Making all those dado cuts with a single blade is a testament to your patience and skill. It is nice to see work being done with hand tools when most people will use power tools for every procedure.
I always enjoy using using hand tools where possible. It takes a bit longer, but it's very rewarding.
I try to wrap my brain around your thought process in planning. I don’t know how you do it. I’d love to see a video of mistakes you’ve made so I feel a bit better about ones I’ve made. I love your videos and your ideas and workmanship are amazing.
Thanks very much :)
Fascinating creativity. I learned a few new things and have a few new ideas as a result of this video. Thank you for creating it and sharing!
Каждый раз смотрю ролики и восхищаюсь....МАСТЕР...здоровья Вам и творческих идей...👍👍👍
What a display of tools and talent! Reminiscent of the H.O. Studley cabinet. So impressive. Love the Stanley 55 and how it gets proudly displayed!
