      You should be. I’ve seen it happen where people, who I would guess aren’t allowed to vote, do a change of address so that the ballot goes to them. By the time you’re asking “where’s my ballot?”, they’ve already turned it in and you’re now counted as having voted. It happened to a co worker of mine whose husband was disabled. When they asked why he didn’t get his ballot, they were told the address it was sent to. That address was s vacant lot with a mailbox on it.
      THIS is why we need those voter laws. To protect OUR right to vote. They need to make it hard to steal your ballot.
      I also know of a nursing home where a nurse from Ghana got all the ballots and filled them out herself instead of giving them to the residents. She actually was so proud of herself that she boasted about it. I was a driver and was there picking up a disabled client to take her to her doctors appointment. The nurse was riding with her and had all the ballots in her hand to take them to the mailbox. She filled them all out for Obama to be president. I personally think the citizens those ballots were meant for should have been the ones to choose who they wanted.
      Voter fraud is real.

    I'm Australian, and this kind of election interference is baffling to me.
    Here, voting is compulsory. Elections happen on a Saturday, polling places are public schools and community centres, and there's very much a school fete atmosphere, with bake sales and raffles and the famous "democracy sausage". For those who can't make it on the day, there's 2 weeks of early voting, and voting by mail is also available. Even the punishment for not voting is not particularly onerous - a $50 fine.
    Everything is made as easy as possible, so there's really no excuse to not exercise your democratic responsibility.

      Unfortunately the United States has a very long sorrid history of actually trying to PREVENT and SUPRESS certain groups (I.e. progressives, minorities, the poor)

The Media doesn't focus on our County/State much since it's easy/hassle free and sounds a lot like what you described. There's always going to be problem places and I'm one that says all the Politicians are corrupt so there's that, hard to escape and so we get these stories. • @kami_in_the_skye
      @kami_in_the_skye ปีที่แล้ว

      Conservatives simply can't win with even moderately high voter turnout (2022's numbers were still very good for a non-presidential election, but down a little from 2018, and even good off-year numbers are still pretty lousy in the grand scheme of things), especially when it's young people causing that uptick. They gave themselves over completely to their fascist fringe to turn the tide of congress hopelessly against the competent black guy president. And while activating all their bigots & nutbars seemed like a trump card at the time (and did ended up letting them fraudulently steal a SCOTUS seat), it has proven to be more just a "stay competitive" move. Like, this is the GOP operating at maximum voting power, and they barely took back the house (and only because New York state's sub-worthless democrat political machine went full arrogant dipshit at the worst possible time) & somehow slightly lost ground in the senate against an unpopular sitting president in an off-year election.
      People were crazy pissed after Roe was overturned, but the dems have done absolutely nothing themselves to even slightly excite, let alone try to actually activate, the left side of their big tent, which itself is actually larger than the entire right wing combined. The republican political bosses/dark money elites/media grifters know this and are utterly terrified. If dems ever do decide to meaningfully activate the left instead of chasing a middle that no longer exists (assuming it even did in the first place, of which I'm less than convinced), conservatives will never be able to win majorities/governorships in probably 35-40 state legislatures or at the national level in this country ever again.
      tl;dr- Voter participation has become extremely political because conservatives have realized they can no longer win elections without cheating like a motherfucker.

    • @christine2ehgtinyhouse893
      @christine2ehgtinyhouse893 ปีที่แล้ว

      You saw how high participation was during the pandemic because we all voted by mail which is cost-effective, time-effective, gives you the reading time you need to really go over the issues in the propositions on your ballot so you can make an informed decision. Republicans don't like that because they lose when there is a large participation this is why Texas is trying to strip Harris County of their election integrity and their right to vote. The goal of the Democrats is to have 100% participation. The goal of the Republican is just to suppress as much participation as possible. Without the EC, no Republican would ever hold the presidential office again.
      Let's get rid of these fascists. 💙 vote blue💙

The democrats are also the ones who strongly opposed to giving blacks citizenship and the right to vote. Only 2 republicans joined the democrat party so that’s another blow to your narrative. This is as absolutely disgusting as it gets. Regardless of where someone falls on the political spectrum they should not be disenfranchised. “We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. It is asked whether, in fact, the leader makes propaganda, or whether propaganda makes the leader. There is a widespread impression that a good press agent can puff up a nobody into a great man.”- Edward Bernays, the forefather of propaganda.

    If they are working this hard to supress voting, it means everyone reading should absolutely vote and help others vote too.

    Is there any push to get voting day moved from Tuesday to let's say Saturday when more people (workers/students) are on their day off?

      I'd love to see it not only turned into a weekend long event, but see it turned into a holiday. Let's see people celebrating the idea if civic engagement, instead of just seeking to punish everyone who doesn't do it 'right'.

    I have a suggestion: I don't know where else this may be true, but in Missouri, if someone denied unemployment benefits appeals the decision, the state actually defends against the worker, rather than the former employer. This means that tax money is used to prevent a citizen from receiving benefits they should receive, and a private employer doesn't have to pay anything. Why would the state have any interest in taking this action? I was under the impression that they are specifically NOT supposed to act in this manner, yet I am witnessing this take place in real time. Additionally, the amount of the benefits she is being denied must be dwarfed by the expense of the legal defense they are mounting to avoid paying her the benefits. I was trying to find out how many employees from this particular employer are denied unemployment benefits and how many are waved through, but I cannot seem to access any of that. Tried a FOI request, no response. There are other issues with this particular state program, but this one is top of the heap, and I'd think it would make a good topic. Oh, and MO was one of only a very few number of states that cut off unemployment benefits three months early during the pandemic, despite the fed paying for most of it, and the delta variant being introduced into the mix. The Atty gen (now a senator) made an autonomous ruling to allow it, and we all lost benefits at a time when no one could go back to work. I have a hell of a story for you about what happened with my unemployment, and also the housing assistance program that was offered during the pandemic, and how that actually screwed me and others i know REALLY badly.
    Speaking of the pandemic, can you find out what is happening to all the funds that are being collected from fraudulent CARES act funding? Will they be redistributed to those who still need some help, or does it go back to the treas, and we still have to deal with the inflation that is supposedly caused by the money no one gets?
    I am sorry to do that to you, but someone has to be able to find out this stuff, and I've gotten a big old 0 for my efforts. I'd be delighted to help in any way possible, and I have a few other ideas, as well. Crazy corporate rip off scams, the failing system of child support enforcement, and how truly atrocious the hospital system is to poor sick people. Sick stuff, I have a bunch of outlandish info on that front.
    Needless to say, you want to do some dives into what the people of the Midwest are actually dealing with on a daily basis, I can hook you up with more info than you can imagine. It's a wild environment, and it will make understanding the fascist movement a whole lot easier. These people have almost no other options, as EVERYONE is screwing them on a constant basis, and no one is paying attention.
    As a proud Gen X'er, I'm prepared to dispel the myth that we don't care. We have been data gathering, and it's time to spill the beans.
    Cheers!

    I don't care if they ran poling locations like TSA airport security and located them two hour away by train... I will be there to vote and will be glad to make it clear to their poll watchers who gets my vote. As a veteran, I am still committed to fighting the war on terror in defense of our constitution, even against domestic extremists. I hope there are enough of us who will take a stand with our vote. Fighting is not easy, and it's our civic duty to protect our liberties and rights.
