Thanx for all that info...I was born in Steytlerville in 1955 move to PE in 1961 but visit very often my hometown I will love it till death. I'm on my way to Steytlerville end of this month...to a church function. God bless you.
I am flabbergasted. Watching this video brought back so many memories. Today I am 58. My brothers and I were enrolled in the boarding school around 1976. Mr. Sangerhause was the headmaster of the boarding school. Before entering the town, we as kids used to swim in the river on weekends. We attended the huge church on Sundays and went to Carel du Toit. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. It keeps the memories alive. Thank you so much.
This is A Beautiful Place And We Came To Stay Here For Two Nights While Visiting Cape Saint Francis A Few Years Ago The Sunset With The Sun Going Down Over The Sea And The Sunrise Was Too Beautiful And The Moon Rising Over The Sea Thank You So Much For Sharing Your Beautiful Video @ Dustbugs Travel 👍👍❤️❤️
Hi Everyone @ Dustbugs Travel Thank you So Much For Your Beautiful Red Heart and Thank You So Much For Enjoying My Messages And Comments @ Dustbugs Travel 👍👍❤️❤️
My Landman grandparents lived in town and under the Winterhoek mountains. Parents were married there in1956 and I still have the handwritten telegrams they received.I had 3 Landman uncles. Oom Joppie was the owner of Karoo Restaurant and on one stage also the Karroo Hotel. Many a time I accompanied him on his weekly trips to the Port Elizabeth market and other suppliers. Thanks for your video.
Thank you so much! 😁 I might just be without a ring on my finger again if I show you a glimpse of Sonia, she is super camera-shy and has been since I've known her. I'm hoping that she'll have a change of heart one day though. 😍 Oh, and we probably missed more than just the motor museum, it's just impossible to see and show everything. 😏
Ag, man, that was moerse lekker! What a lovely surprise to discover your channel. I have very fond memories of Steytlerville: we lived in the town for about six months in 1957 when my father was the clerk of works (liaison between the then Cape Provincial Roads Dept. and the civil engineering contractor) on the tarring of the main street, both the section known as Piet Retief St and the Sarel Cilliers St section. We stayed in a small annexe to a boarding house, both still standing in Piet Retief St. The boarding house is a little single-storey building with a green roof and yellow trim around the windows and doors and is opposite the little curio shop that sells fruit and vegetables as well and has a deli. You have absolutely made this ouk's day here in Australia! Dankie!!!!
Greetings to you in Australia and welcome to our channel! We're so happy to have you on board. 😁🚗 Your memories of your time in Steytlerville are so vivid still, it was fantastic to read. 🤩 It was our first time and we loved the town, so we completely get your fondness for the place, which is evident from your comment. 😊
Wow! Thank you guys for this video, 7 years ago I was in the Karro, with friends on a hunting trip, Steitlerville, Baviaans up to Oudtshoon.all I could think of was 'God's grandear'
It's great to hear that you enjoyed our video! 😊 The area is so beautiful that we just can't stop exploring and filming! 😁 Baviaanskloof is a trip we haven't planned yet, but are already looking forward to! 🚗
Interesting comparison to the stigye in Madagascar, which we're not familiar with at all. We'll certainly read up about it. The world is just full of amazing sights. 🤩
All my life I wondered about this Dorpie.. Thankyou for sharing. I must agree I would live there to get away from city life and have friendly people to wave and talk too every day in this town.
We're glad that we were able to show you a little of Steytlerville. It's such a pretty town and everyone we met, was really friendly, welcoming and kind. Hopefully you get the chance to go and visit one day. Thank you for watching our video! 😁🚗
Agreed! We're not big on major research before we visit a site, but thought the part of the Algoa Sea was rather interesting. Those rock formations at Draaikrans literally rocked our world! 😁 Glad you enjoyed it too! ⛰️👌🏻
Those rock formations are amazing. So many faces in them! Cant help seeing faces. Our earth is so wonderful with all the geology and history. I love the beautiful churches you take pictures of. I have only once been to Steytlerville and it is the one time I saw lightening actual bolt down to the earth. Aarde toe gebliksem! What an awesome sight! Unfortunately the farm stay we had booked was at the end of an absolutely impossible long road, full of sharp stones. We felt to sorry for Miss Opal and her tyres, so we pushed on to Uitenhage. From here, you guys could do Baviaanskloof, which is also lovely
Those rock formations at Draaikrans were some of the most spectacular we've ever seen, especially those vertical layers! 😍🥰 The grand old Edwardian church was truly something to behold, it's sheer size was mind-blowing. ⛪ Your experience of lightning sounds awesome, that would give anyone a newfound respect for nature and its strength. ⚡ We're planning Baviaanskloof for a future trip and with a slightly more offroad vehicle. 😁🚗
Read somewhere the church was the largest (think seating) in SA until the Groote Kerk in Cape town decided it was not on and added a balcony which restored there ego. Interesting it also have one of the widest main roads, because there is only one road in and out of town, and it was this wide for the ox wagons to be able to turn around to exit town. Pragtige dorp! Sal graag self wil besoek eendag.
Interesting info about the Groote Kerk! 👌🏻 We believe the church in Steytlerville is still the largest Edwardian-style church in the country and what a beautiful building it is! ⛪ We love those wide roads and can always imagine the ox wagons going along them in days gone by! That must've been a sight to see. 🐂 You should definitely pay this lovely town a visit when you're able to, you'll love all the little bits of history to be found here. 🤩🚗
Well, well, well the first travellers went over but you could go through the mountains, how beautiful they are. Those rock formations were amazing at Draaikrans. Just loved the flag paintings at Noordpoort. Lady de Waal bridge great. Very nice town although I have not heard of . Thank you for taking me onlong.
We're glad that we were able to show you a little glimpse of the town of Steytlerville. Now you can say you've heard about it! 😁 Draaikrans was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. ⛰️
An impressive church to visit is the Llandaff Oratory situated just before Van-Reneen's pass en-route to Durban from Harrismith. There's also a nice tea garden situated on the same property. Steytlerville looks like an impressive town to visit.
You should definitely spend time in Steytlerville when you have a chance, it's a very pretty town! 😍 We'll try and remember that church when we hit Kwazulu-Natal. 👍🏻
I gather you're from the area. It was an incredibly beautiful road, the natural beauty is simply phenomenal! We're so grateful we got to explore the surroundings. 😍🚗 Hopefully you're able to visit again soon! 😊
@@DustBugsTravel I love all your vids!! Research fallen (cut) ancient trees - (even on YT) before Naoh the mountains stood in their shade. (Scripture) will even amaze you more when travelling.
Thanks for a informative video. I am curios about how knowledgeable you are of the places and routes you visit. If you don't mind me asking, do you research the places you go to and if so what sources do you use?
Thank you so much, we're happy to hear you enjoyed our video! 😊 We travel purely for enjoyment, but during the planning of our routes, we do happen upon little nuggets of information about certain places. Some we remember, most we don't. 😁 We don't believe in extensive research before we visit a place since we like to keep it light and explore through fresh and unjaded eyes. We use Google as our only source. We hope you'll join us on more trips. 🚗
If you give me a timestamp of what you refer to specifially in the video, I can have a look and respond with my thoughts. This trip was a while ago and I can't remember all the detail anymore. 🚙🌳
Looks like a lovely small town to visit. I just saw a job vacancy there and I am considering to apply. Do you think the place and community are friendly to new people. Just curious based on your observation and knowledge
We've been to Steytlerville only once and our experience of the town and its people was a very positive one. 👌🏻 I would imagine you need to go and check it out for yourself before you decide to relocate there. Good luck with the job application!

@@DustBugsTravel Thanx.
Ek reis so lekker saam met julle. Baie dankie.
Beautiful big church. So almost all towns were founded on the basis of one church or the other!
You take me back 48 years. I was there in the boarding school in 1974. Remember most off the buildings but not all. Good young years. Thanks a lot.
We're so happy that our video brought back good memories from your time in this pretty town! 😊 Thank you for letting us know! 👌
I love that basin in the accommodation.
You clearly have an eye for detail. 😊 We also love the old-style sanitaryware and taps. 🚰
I really appreciate this about Steytlersville as my grandfather is from this town❤🎉🎉😊😊😊

You're 100% correct. It is a fantastic road, those rock formations are wild and so very beautiful. Thank you so much for watching! 🤩
I travelled that road frm Klipplat, Willowmore to Oudtshoorn also,Smonds
Where are you travelling from?
We're based in Strand in the Western Cape. On this specific day we travelled from Klipplaat to Mount Stewart to Steytlerville. 🚗🙂
Lol that ocean was the great flood that covered the whole earth in Noah's time.
🙂
😁 Being no geological buffs, we thought we better read up a bit about Draaikrans. It was our first time hearing about the Algoa Sea. 🌊

Maybe there is signs of previous human life
Certainly an interesting thought. 🤔
These rock formations were formed by the power of the water by the flood in Noah's time
Thank you for your comment and for watching our video. 🚗😊
why is Sonia never on camera?
Sonia isn't keen to be filmed. Until she changes her mind, I'll respect that and her voice will just have to do. 🚙🥰
Great scenery....a pity for the constant comments though.
Thank you for watching AND for your comment. 👍🏻
