Happy to see that this masterpiece of a house is being conserved and loved, rather than getting demolished. On top of that it is being filled with story telling pieces rather than bland flatbox furniture. Remember it is always easier to criticise than to create. ❤
I have never commented on TH-cam, but this was absurd for me. RM did not want to be relatable as all the other famous, highly notable individuals, & just take us through his house himself like a down to earth person? Instead he has it scripted, narrated by actresses he’s worked with, and shoots it in a way like every idea is the first time anyone has ever thought to do it. Go elsewhere sir. Part of why so many love the video format AD has been doing is it allows people to feel they have gotten to know the person a bit more. This did the opposite for me personally & I see some others agree. I’m see some still enjoyed it, but wouldn’t everyone have liked to get “to know” a bit more of Ryan through him, vs. all these famous actresses?
YES THIS. I literally for a second thought he had died, and paused the video at 5 seconds to check....what other possible reason could warrant such a stupid dramatic video?
The Tiffany lamp wasn't chic or ironic. It was out of place as was a great deal of objects. Furthermore, this house is undeniably mid-century, we can all agree... the very random objects didn't make the house eclectic, just random. There wasn't a flow, it wasn't ironic. It just looked like a wealthy person on a shopping spree who lacks a vision.
the structure itself is beautiful, but there really is no cohesion to the interior design. i understand the "conflict ethos" that he is going for, but i think there needs to be some sort of rhythm and flow to the space. otherwise it just looks like a showroom of random, super-expensive art and furniture scattered about with no rhyme or reason.
The Best thing Ryan Murphy ever done next to running w/ scissors, better than all his FX shows! Great taste, campy narration lol, everything was chef kiss! 😄
Is the narration supposed to be sarcastic or ironic? It’s so over the top, it can’t possibly be meant to be taken seriously. If it’s a parody, congrats it’s Documentary Now level hilarious. I mean, “Famously yodeled.” Really?
The comment section mirrors the sentiment of conflict which is the basis of his homes perspective. The house and the viewers are entangled in this poetic thing called life.
This isn’t new, it’s just a wealth flex. Going to stop shilling for people who make mediocre film media or show some real design innovation? I remember seeing a modern bookcase/storage boxy thing plopped into a baroque manse in an advert in your magazine in the 90’s, when it was paper only. The contrast of neoclassical pieces, contemporary art and mid century modern shows that mid modern stripped down functions as a backdrop. Not as pretty as the Frick, mind you, but not dissimilar.
The style and pacing of this video makes me deliriously happy! If AD made design profiles in the 1950s, I'm sure they'd have a similar vibe. Thank you for shaking things up with this fun change in format... I love it!
It is highly unlikely that the monitor you saw this video on accurately represents color. Making judgements of that nature based on a TH-cam video are akin to evaluating a Beethoven symphony by listening to a 64 mbps MP3 file.
i normally love these tours. i mean really love them. this one came off very pretentious. having no humans in the frame made it very cold. i get the taste level is off the charts. the reverential voice overs didnt help. although mind boggling in execution and money, sorry to say....soulless.
My husband and I felt the same way. It was a "flex" as someone said above, but to me, the words that came to mind were "pretentious," and almost reeks of "insecurity." I felt almost like this fella was going so hard to show all those 8th-grade bullies how important he is now!@@justinbrovenick3023
I thought of lisping queens doing the narration, not movie stars. Maybe the cast of Drag Race would’ve made it truly postmodern and not so LA. Plus.. it’s a torso, not a bust, duh.
The only thing more bizarre than the smash up of period designs is the multiple actresses providing the voice over narration to the short film. I think I like both.
I was upset Sarah and Angela involved themselves in such pretentious foolishness by Ms KK was the nail. I wanted to see the house though so I'm back watching it with captions in silence 😂😂😂
Chic and elegant in a very upper crust California way, kind of updated Billy Haines? I get it, but it's not me. I agree that "discord" can be useful. but it's just not me. To each his own. Fun to look at and analyse.🙂🙂
A delight to watch. Thank you to the uploader for a super vid that takes us to a world where in design and art there are many possibilities,, best wishes to the AD team, family, friends and fellow viewers.
So, basically the interior design is what all high end interior designers do.. they mix time periods with the furniture, lighting and objects.. and add contemporary art. lol
The throaty. actresses sound like they have a hangover who are recording the narration you don't get a feel of the house what a waste of video with all the close-ups

@@lisathompson5048 Why NOT!!
Too many close-up shots. You don't see the impact of the architecture.
Kinda felt like a magazine or publication, yep.
@@that1thickpugg738what, AD feels like a magazine?
agreed
Agreed. It's a great film of collected objects and it captures the play of light and shadow... but what does the house look like?
Why is AD doing a commercial for Ryan’s Murphy’s house? This video gives me the creeps.
The house itself gives me the creeps.
Are we even surprised that media people are bunch of pervs
i came to the comments to see if anyone was feeling this way lol. the narrating is so weird too.
Same
@@beautyallaroundme724 it’s a piece of art. Useless ornaments give me the creeps.
I feel like I’m at the educational movie they play before you get to walk through the museum.
Having A-list actresses narrate your house's history and video tour for AD is a FLEX
ridiculous! and so pretentious! GROSS
As an artist myself, I find this inspiring.
@@lavaughnforbes8008 as an artist myself, I find it gauche and try hard.
Seriously a flex, It's interesting how they're keeping the Hollywood aesthetic alive,

It's art sweetheart! Lighten up, also, you should probably never comment on a TH-cam again!
it's pretentious and not in the sincere style that was AD!
YES THIS. I literally for a second thought he had died, and paused the video at 5 seconds to check....what other possible reason could warrant such a stupid dramatic video?
I dunno, he's a filmmaker? who likes to tell stories and not make it about himself but instead the artists and designers? @@arnoldpalma95

I wish i could see more of the house, like the usual videos of the channel

The design of the landscaping is beautiful
Pretension, thy name is Ryan Murphy.
These types of videos should have financial stakeholders listed like they're sponsor logos on sports jerseys
without even googling I can tell you Murphy is looking to sell this lmao
@@corhydron111 could be, but he only bought it in 2022 so that'd be strange
Seriously-UNSUBSCRIBING
I got the giggles when Kim K started narrating… this is CAMP!
This whole video and house reek of insecurities, over compensation and boredom. I have never disliked an AD video or property... until this one.
the structure itself is beautiful, but there really is no cohesion to the interior design. i understand the "conflict ethos" that he is going for, but i think there needs to be some sort of rhythm and flow to the space. otherwise it just looks like a showroom of random, super-expensive art and furniture scattered about with no rhyme or reason.
I see a lot of people don't like change. This was soothing and the house is beautifully done.
I’m getting “American Psycho” vibes. No?
This whole thing veers very close to an SNL parody. The narration was painful.
When I hear “reimagine Neutra” I shut down. Let’s reimagine the Parthenon next.
The Best thing Ryan Murphy ever done next to running w/ scissors, better than all his FX shows! Great taste, campy narration lol, everything was chef kiss! 😄
The brown suede Tobia Scarpa couch set at 6:36 and the 1974 Nakashima desk at 9:19 were monumental!! Amazing vintage pieces
The narration is unexpected but kind of fun.
pretentious and gross!
I really like the narration. Soothing ASMR vibes.
Except for Kardashian’s vocal creak 🤣
Is the narration supposed to be sarcastic or ironic? It’s so over the top, it can’t possibly be meant to be taken seriously. If it’s a parody, congrats it’s Documentary Now level hilarious.

Wow loved this besides all the negative comments… what an art collection ❤
One of the finest houses in Los Angeles. Furnished and detailed impeccably. Maybe the best video AD has done in a while.
The comment section mirrors the sentiment of conflict which is the basis of his homes perspective. The house and the viewers are entangled in this poetic thing called life.
😂
That Kardashian voice was so grating I almost turned it off, but the video was saved by Watts’ mesmerizing voice.
I thought this channel was about architecture, not art. I want to see the house, not the weird stuff that's in it.

Remove the art pieces and you’ve got a middle school building with a $50k monthly landscaping bill.

Though the opening credits were a surprise to me I wasn’t expecting the narration.

I enjoyed that this was narrated by so many lovely people, interesting way to do an open door episode.
Someone should do a study on the Semiotics of the word ´European´ in AD videos
Gorgeous
I love the celebrity VOs I don't know what happened the mix of these wonderful women I can't finish listening to the full episode.
His Laguna Beach property is one of my all-time favorite properties
this place was cool but the presentation was so overwhelmingly pretentious.
