    1. Most polyphones are mere tone shifts. Our tones suck anyway. Do your best and rely on CONTEXT MEASURE WORDS AND GRAMMAR to save you, not your listeners poor ears tho. Do your best.
    2. When the same character has two entirely different pronounciations: one is almost always more frequent! Learn that one first, and actively. The other(s) you will acquire passively. Much less painful.
    着 is zhe, zhou, zhao. But ZHE is the most frequent so learn that.
    乐 is yue, le, but both those phonemes core meanings have to do with music and happiness so just understand the character means happy music and most frequently occurs as le.
    There are lots and lots of polyphones, but few are high frequency and the polyphones just about always have one most frequent pronunciation.
    My mandarin is gonna be trashy and bad but if I take Ting's course I'm gonna be a diplomat, an artist, and a success in Mandarin!
