    This is great. I'm lighting ours for the first time tonight just to see how we get on. My son bought us the ooni for Christmas and the Scottish weather has played havoc with our plans to light it! We don't have a covered space for it so have been waiting for the right conditions. Tomorrow is our first official pizza night! Can't wait 🍕

    Useful video. Do you find it works best if you leave some ash in the grate before lighting up?

    • @planetfriendlyfirewood
      @planetfriendlyfirewood  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mattseymour8637 No definitely not - Oonis work so well because of well designed airflow, you want it empty! Although with good wood you should find you have very little ash left over 🔥

      @@planetfriendlyfirewoodOk will give that a go and as you say I think the airflow on them is what works well but I haven't used mine yet and arrived yesterday.

      @@planetfriendlyfirewoodI'm in the UK and have seen a few videos to get an idea but that would be helpful.
      Can I ask what temperature the manual says to cook at as haven't looked at that part in it yet?

    • @planetfriendlyfirewood
      @planetfriendlyfirewood  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mattseymour8637 Not sure about the manual sorry! I aim for 400-420°C stone temperature, and make sure you have a rolling flame at the back. First few are quite stressful as you have to turn the pizza every 15-20 seconds…

      @@planetfriendlyfirewood a fair point, I’m not sure on the rules. Though many huge youtubers have links to items seen in their videos, even affiliate links.

    My father refuses to add more wood after its first addition (4 pieces only) and still expects a 60 second pizza to magically come out. Ridiculous trying to explain to him. It took me an hour to wait for it while it was in the oven at around 200 degrees instead of 900 since there was NO FIRE in sight

    What do you use to cut to size? Hard for me to get kindling the right size where I am.

      Hi Rich, we're a wood fuel business so we product the kindling commercially, you can find a link to the product in the description!

    do you have to leave for 80 min?

      What’s 80 minutes? I think I say 18 minutes near the end of the clip, definitely not 80

    How disappointing that you couldn't get to the 932 as advertised

    • @planetfriendlyfirewood

      Hi there. We easily get the Karu to 500C, this is just a simple instructional video about how to light the oven - and as I say in the video, with no wind it can take a little longer to get to temperature. Thanks for coming on and commenting 😃

    • @martylynchian8628
      @martylynchian8628 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@planetfriendlyfirewood 500 degrees is a long way off from the advertised 932 degrees advertised. A regular oven can do 500 degrees .

      @@martylynchian8628 Hi Martin, you might notice the C for Celsius after the 500, we’re based in the UK so we don’t use Fahrenheit in any of our advertising 😃

      @martylynchian8628 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@planetfriendlyfirewood So why are you not using the Fahrenheit measurement? This is the imperial standard which came from the English system of measurement. Normally English speaking countries use this measurement as being the standard. I think the standard originally came from England.

      @@martylynchian8628 Hi Martin, Celsius is now the global standard for temperature measurement, only a small minority including the US still use Fahrenheit - which for your info, was invented by a German scientist who was born in Poland!
