    I really like the informational pace of these old-school videos. No fluff, just stuff.

    I love the old Iroc-Z hauling ass over the new grade crossing at the end.

    I lived in Spencer WV for several years as a teenager. My stepfather and his family often cut pine logs to sell to BP&B to make fence posts. It's been nearly forty years since I've even heard the name Burke, Parsons and Bowlby.

      What was it like being a teenager in Spencer, WV? Doesn’t look like there’s much around there, which could be a good thing or a bad thing I suppose.

      @@eddieafterburner I've been gone from there since 1982, but had family that remained for a few a more years. A couple of times over the past few decades, I've happened upon a friend from high school on social media, and shared some brief, but pleasant exchanges. I haven't really kept up with any of them though. As to your question, there was a theater, a roller skating rink, and the annual Black Walnut Festival in October. And, I know there were a lot of kind people around, mostly outside of my circle I suppose. I do have a few cherished memories of the place, a few.

    One summer I helped deck a 300 foot RR bridge on an abandoned Railroad right away for snowmobiles. We had, brand new, creosote lumber to do the job. If you work with new creosote lumber and are in the bright summer sun you MUST wear gloves and protect your skin with a heavy layer of sunscreen. Any part of you that comes into contact with that new creosote lumber will instantly sun burn, even if you are wearing sunscreen and you scrape up against the wood too hard you will burn.
    Luckily, someone Learned this lesson the hard way before we started the bridge and we found out about it.
    The lumber we used came from the DuBois plant, mentioned in the video, as the bridge is not far from there. The DuBois plant has a pretty unpleasant odor when you drive by it.

      I worked near the Goshen plant. They gave us a crème to put all over our forearms to help prevent rash and burns from the creosote fumes, which were particularly bad on hot days.

    I’m curious as to why a roller isn’t run on the track bed before the new track and crossties are pulled into place. Thanks for the video. Take care.

    Old employees told me stories about the years earlier of cross ties being delivered in box cars . The men would have to man handle the cross ties out of the box cars . Horrible working conditions and their clothes would be soaked in creosote and thrown away . Good video .

      @@Paulzilla9111 This video was posted 2024. There is no indication in the description that this is a heritage or vintage video posted for its historical value. Therefore I would expect year 2024 quality.
      But either way, the "music" is way to loud and overbearing, no matter if the video is new or decades old.

      @@wtflmaa7842There is plenty indication if you know what to look for. Authentic professional quality VHS production. large metal pneumatic tools. New 80s vehicles and heavy equipment. 80s work clothing style. (Even the hard hats). Everyone has a healthy BMI. AND THAT MUSIC!

    PLEASE drop that music. You got nice content, no need to spoil it with this horrible, overbearing background noise.
    And a best resolution of 480p is really obsolete by today's standards.

      Music is original to video and the VHS quality is what is was recorded... Let me guess you're a zoomer..

      @wtflmaa7842 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@matthewq4b Had to google what a zoomer is. No, I can assure you I am not.
      There is no note that this is a vintage/historical VHS recording. On closer inspection, yeah, I might have guessed: towards the end there are real cars with character crossing the railroad instead of modern aerodynamic lumps of clay optimized in a wind tunnel. Sorry that I missed that hint.

    • @matthewq4b
      @matthewq4b หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@wtflmaa7842 This is clearly taken from a VHS recording, and the clothing, equipment, not to mention vehicles and over all style of this vid easily dates it to the early mid 80's (83 to 84). I find it very hard to believe that anyone who was around in the era would not recognize this right off.
