who else figured out that Brad Delp actually synchronises his voice with the guitar while he isn't singing to add an extra level of depth to the music? Musical freakin' geniuses.
I actually didn’t realize what you meant by this until recently watching a “What Makes This Song Great” video by Rick Beato. It’s crazy how many minute details found their way into this tune. Thanks for watching!
Well, while Brad Delp is AMAZING in this song, that is Tom Scholz and the production. He engineered and mixed the song and he was a freakin' genius!! He even INVENTED a lot of gear back then that is still used in musical production today!
Thursday, 29 Jul 21, 0041 hours. All is quiet and all is well but for some reason I'm suddenly feeling both very maudlin and nostalgic. More Than a Feeling came out when I was fourteen and I remember clear as day listening to this song on weekend nights as I cruised with my friends and my older brothers in a patched up old Plymouth, chip in for gas, the fun was for free. Now at 59 my grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles and so many people I knew are departed and my fading youth is walking away like Marianne. So despite the hour, the quiet, and the neighbors, I crank this song. Enveloped by those gorgeous, mournful, heartbreaking riffs my mind drifts back to times that are forever gone but for five minutes and five seconds I am fourteen again, with my grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles, brothers and my friends around when life was so simple and each day was magic and times were so happy and so good and so carefree..... Sometimes, despite life, one simply Has to crank it because one only lives once and one does not know how much time one has left on this Tiny Blue Marble spinning through space, on this Veil of Tears we call Mother Earth... And so many people have come and gone and their faces fade as the years go by...... And I miss them All..... So Very Much.........
Thats how it all starts! I hope you'll learn to play, its given me a life long pleasure. Btw...theres a similar guitar at guitarsgarden dot com today 7/16/20 for 189. And they're pretty nice. It's called the Firefly les Paul...FFLP for short. (I typed it out so as not to post a link) See reviews here on TH-cam. Stay safe and well 🎵🎵
@@olebogengjunior338 That's great! My Grandmother played tenor and baritone sax, my dad played guitar and harmonica, I play guitar since I was 5, now I'm almost 60, but still rocking it, lol. My eldest was a concert cellist and still plays occ. My youngest plays piano, keyboards and viola. I hope you'll give it a try. It takes time and dedication, but its worth it! Stay safe and well 💕💕🎵🎵
Outta sight! I was 13 years old when this song came out in 1976.I was at my friend Matt Tidwell's house. We were all outside , sitting in his VW van,we had the sliding door open on the side. There were about 8 of us sitting in there just hanging out , listening to the radio getting high. The radio station..KSTO FM. This song came on and everything changed. You play it the way it was meant to be played in 76.
You've got the right amount of distortion, the right dynamics, and really great timing! I appreciate what you're doing here. Thank you for posting this. Awesome job!
Great job! One of my favorite songs. Now come over and play it on my half-stack and lets wake up the neighbors! To me this is one of those ultimate songs to "rock-out" to. Crank the volume, sit back and just nod your head up and down to the beat. The driving rhythm in the chorus is along the lines of Don't Fear the Reaper, and Sultans of Swing..... if you were in a car, "for no reason " the accelerator just keeps moving closer to the floor. I swear officer thats what happened. lol
John, my favorite on this song. Watching tutorials for the breakdowns but when I want to just listen and watch this is my favorite. Thank you for sharing. Hello from Alaska!
Bud, This is hands down the best boston cover ever. You have the talent to make covers. You should consider making tutorial videos and gain some traction on your channel, i feel like you have a lot of potential.
Great job dude!! Fantastic! The story of how that album came to be is very interesting. Tom Scholz is brilliant! He played the majority of the various instruments we hear, overdubbed the tracks and created a masterpiece in his basement, alone . He did call in Brad Delp for the awesome vocals . 😎🎸🎶 Thanks for sharing your talent with us !
Wow. It doesn't get any better then this. Best cover of what I feel is the greatest song ever written. Absolutely crushed it. Nice job. Just subscribed.
Haven't been inspired to learn a new song in a while... and not many songs that are fun to play from start to finish! Usually just solos and licks. Well done, mate!
Great job, I must have listened to the whole album 50,000 times from an 8-track tape in my '74 Ford (piece-a-crap) Maverick - the rear speakers on "BOOST"!
Fan-f###ing-tastic!!! I just love this track. It holds so many memories for me. I was whooping with delight when you went for the solo. Great job. Absolutely great job!
Such a great cover! I especially appreciate you getting the full fretboard and pick hand in the pic. Your pickup selection was on point. You even nailed all the strumming nuances on the power chords in that last chorus. This will be so helpful to me in nailing this one down. Love your TONE!
Great job man. I love Boston. I was 16 when I heard this song. Went out in blizzard conditions to get the 8 track and the 33 1/3 rpm record. I still have the record. Unopened.
That solo - Awesome - 9.8, note for note. I like how you played the live version at the end. I also like how you anchor your right hand pinkie on the bridge pickup ring, I do that too.
It's crazy how complicated I used to think this song was before I saw you play it. I guess it just shows how good their song writing was when they put it all together!
If you are correct, I think that would be D to Dsus4 you speak of. The F#/4 is a perfect fourth to the D :) JSK you rocked it, and after a couple go arounds of your wonderful video and I'm rock'n it too! Long live Mr Tom Schultz, a music math genius****************
Explanation was lacking clarity : F# is the Major 3rd of the D Chord, and pinky action, the finger referred to in this case for substituting the G for the F# would produce a sus4 chord, In which case you get a Dsus4. When you see a sus chord, the 3rd of any chord is replaced with the corresponding number mentioned such as Dsus2, Dsus4.
@@hr0727 same here :D But it is wonderful to finally see how the song is played on real guitar, not like me when I'm rockin' and playing "air" guitar at this song :D :D
Clarity indeed. The bridges before the vocal verses start are not just a repetition of the intro. Those two bars don't suspend the D chord. It's just picking the chord, minus the high E-string.
I'm 13 years old and I play as much guitar as I can and i'm starting to learn this song and it's easy but I have car and bike projects at home to build too so I have to find time to play. Yeah 70s and 80s ROCK.
I can barely squeak out a tune on one pick up. You’re kicking ass on 3 at a time, playing lead and rhythm, a little vibrato. F-me. I hate playing guitar...and I love it. Hey, wait! I think My guitar is Bipolar!!

Very poignant, poetic, well-said… A beautiful word symphony of past times, our times, I agree wholeheartedly!

Good work . Is that an Em or a E5 on the chorus. Also what are the chords during the middle solo?
