Considering LaBrie's voice was in its prime 15 years ago I don't think any of you know how it truly is to upkeep his/her original vocals. Singing like a buff woman? I guess that some of you would be critics are part of the younger crowd. All bands, at one point or another grow up together and age.. Some bands don't do so great, and some do. Dream Theater is one of those bands who pulled through the years.
Agreed, James LaBrie And Bruce Dickinson Are No Doubt Two Individuals Who Have Made An Eternal Mark In The World Of Metal Music. Definitely Both Of Them Are A Pair Of The All Time Greatest Vocalists Ever...
What differences this group from many others, is that they have the essence of what music really is. As you listen to their music, you're progressing with it, until you reach a higher level. That's something that I think most of the music today, has forgotten.
why ppl allways say shit about Labrie??? He is the perfect singer for DT! And his singing tehnique is awsome. Its just up to you if you are gonna like him or not.
Saw them right after images and words came out. IN a small club when nobody knew who they were. Freakin amazing show. Everyone left that place saying WHAT AN AMAZING BAND!!!
Still can't believe I opened for these guys solo.acoustic at Mcguffy's House of draft in Dayton Oh. in 1992!! They've come a long way since then obviously!
I think out of currently active bands Dream Theater is probably going to take all my money since I'm definitely going to whatever concert they play here in PA.
I just saw this video 6 years ago, one of the first metal songs i've ever heard, when i was 13, now some years later i see this video and :O just awesome, same feeling than before, love james voice here.
hahahahahahahah listen to LaBrie do the vibrato at 1:03........."here we gOoOoOoOOOoOoOoOOOOOOO!!!!" hahah who else but LaBrie would SING "here we go" so passionately? :-D
Anyone who didn't like Dream Theater pls dun watch diz, dun even say that thing like 'hate' coz if u can do better than them, they let all Dream Theater Fans watch u guys wheter u guys are talented as them have the title the LEGENDARY DRUMMER just like Mike Portnoy! his the best man!
Labrie must be given credit from 1994-2002 his vocals cords had been severely damaged and still on all the albums during that time live and studio he still managed to sing brilliantly
@MiikeCS Dude, you're spot on. Nobody knows how to write songs anymore; it's all a "OK, the label wants us to release a new album, let's write it." AKA, the write your album in a short period of time. The way to go is to write your songs over time, so as you grow and develop, so does your style and music, creating hugely entertaining progression in the music. Bands like Dream Theatre, Coheed And Cambria, Tool, they get this. And so, they are awesome.
@freetrader0000 Actually I only even know of DT because Pull Me Under was played constantly on the radio when I was in high school (yes, most of us did not yet have CD and mp3 players). I was revisiting old music and was hoping to find other similar tracks. I have not yet heard any of the others you mentioned. Truth be told, DT is outside the realm of my music rotation. Most musicians/bands I enjoy listening to regularly are either dead or no longer performing together.
@LeathalWorksInc In North America yes, big time. In Asia, everyone knows and loves DT. They're way way bigger in Asia than here, quite a pity actually.
i don't know why u got thumbs down your one of the few people here talking sense. their "best hit" is only their best hit because its one of there only commercial songs. anyone who REALLY knows music and is a TRUE fan of dream theater knows the real shit like you said
Like I say all the time, LaBrie is practically the mascot of Dream Theater, in the best possible way. :) Sure, their playing style is recognizable, but nobody has a singer with that kind of a voice. :)
@mgirardi1 You're right, he does sound a lot like Geddy Lee! I personally think both Geddy and the singer here (cant remember his name lol) have great voices
This goes to everyone. Stop catagorizing the music and just listen to it for what it is, if you don't like that particular band or sound then move on. You can listen to 50 and Kanye and still listen to rock, metal, hell even tech if your into that. This is a peacefull comment and should be taken as advise to live by and not me telling you what to do, so if you have anything bad to say to me, do me a favor and don't waste my time and keep it to yourself. Thanks.
대한민국에 때창은 정말 최고 ^^ 사랑해요...라브리에 형 ㅎㅎ

I think out of currently active bands Dream Theater is probably going to take all my money since I'm definitely going to whatever concert they play here in PA.
Let's just all enjoy the discovery of bands we don't know prior to youtube etc. No need to cut each other here, since we all are music lovers.

I wish LaBrie could sing live like he could in the studio back in the days. Right now he is killing this song.
love this song
AMAZING!!
It's interesting to know that this song was played in the radio a number of times before DT even became a wonder. Just shows us their brilliance. :)
Dream theater is awesome!
James LaBrie is my favourite vocalist after Bruce Dickinson. In this song the vocals are especially good especially the entry... lost in the sky....
Great performance :)
이때 라브리에의 컨디션은 스코어 앨범을 능가한다
I love the audience they no what its all about =)

@5SG9 The Iron Maiden thing ends July 20 and the A7X thing starts July 25. There can be no Dream Theater without Portnoy.
Dude!! his voice!! shit man , he had the best voice!!! now its ... gone
@freetrader0000 Actually I only even know of DT because Pull Me Under was played constantly on the radio when I was in high school (yes, most of us did not yet have CD and mp3 players). His voice is like Geddy Lee's, either you love it or hate it, but they suit each other bands perfectly
Like I say all the time, LaBrie is practically the mascot of Dream Theater, in the best possible way. :)
Sure, their playing style is recognizable, but nobody has a singer with that kind of a voice. :)

coooool!
@Unistachio i was there too! it was fucking great! i was in the fucking lawn, but fuck it, it was a great show (both bands). cheers!
@muzaklover78 DT probably has a lot of material that you'd like. Most of their albums have at least one song suited for a mainstream audience.
thats cause of his vocal rupture man and he still sings so well with a rupture i give him credit for that.
great!!
