I've had one of these since 2011 and its still working fine, Philips products are trustworthy. I have the same white one and whenever I watch something on it i remember the good old days :-)

Yes Philips portable DVD players are very dependable I still have my 9 inch one from 5 years ago that’s showing signs of age but still turns on and plays a dvd but it’s loud and not as quiet as my New Black GPX 9 inch portable DVD player but I still enjoy using the Philips as backup every now and then

I literally just bought a portable DVD player at Walmart and it works great. Not bad for $80 and I got me some SpongeBob the complete 1st season to watch on it. I love it.

We got the Philips one, likewise family member passed away and we got it.
We use it for just watching DVDs and also films via USB.
If there was a way to use it as just a portable dvd player that you can connect to a tv using the AV out that would of been better

There is an AV socket on the side, don't think I have the cable though.

In Philip's which files are supported like 3gp, MP4, etc

It was made in 2012, so it supports Mp3 audio files and also most standard picture files. Plays DVDs, CDs and recordable CDs.

Sounds as if the laser is faulty. It could be fixed but, to be honest, since the Phillips model is now nearly 10 years old and is no longer sold by Phillips, it would probably cost a whole lot more to get it repaired than the machine is actually worth. Portable DVD players are slowly becoming obsolete, but good quality ones are still easily available brand new for around $100 or less. That Phillips model - although it was good in its day - can be picked up on Ebay for around $8 now.
