I remember barrow being this way.teachers told everyone back in ‘88 that moving away was the best thing we could do because there was no future in barrow for us. After seeing some of the videos on TH-cam recently, they obviously knew something well in advance.
Absolutely glorious, I remember even in the 2000's me and my Grandad used to walk just about every inch of barrow, very fond memories with him. Just glorious.
The liveliness of the town in this film is something I wish would return to Barrow. The market hall is half-empty with nearly no outdoor stalls, & most of the units on the high street look half-derelict. Someday, maybe, the town will regain some of that life.
I can only imagine what it looked like in the 15th and 16th centuries..the Barnette’s were early inhabitants before coming to America. What a vibrant and bustling place
Barrow was only a few farms in the 15/16th century! It wasn’t a town until 1845 ish when the forefathers of the shipyard came n found steel n everything they needed to build the ships! N railways xxxx
That open air market was where I first used to get material from n i got my first towel set from there and my daughters first nappies! I had to make Terry towelling squares ❤ but I did it! Xxxx
Surely this can't be Barrow. Where are all the black people? Where are the Muslims? I can't see a hijab or a tunban anywhere. There must be some mistake.

I love the “Hiya y’alright”, is there anything more Barrow 😁
Haha, it's both people saying it in unison that makes it incredibly Barrow 😄
Such a great video. Brings back memories of when the town used to be bustling with shoppers when l was a child.
Oh wish we had those days back, so many people shopping in town centre, a lovely friendly community
I never appreciated what a great place Barrow was when I lived there. Sadly current videos show a very different story.
Looks better then it does today
Thanks for uploading these videos ! Great reminder of when a town centre was a live and busy ...
… and homogenous.
Before the internet and out of town centre stores helped Barrow shoppers do major damage to our town's shops.
2:38 .. that greeting those two women did, wow. It’s so weird to think this was nearly 30 years ago.
Everyone's slim! 😀 😀 😀

Can't believe how vibrant the town looked, populated by slender, healthy looking people. The exact opposite of 2024.
Casually walking across the Tesco roundabout, wow how times have changed.
All these people walking around and no one with a phone in there hand happy days
And there were people and open shops!
Back in those days, people left their phones at home, wired to the wall.
My Wife’s father on the video , walking in the town 👍
I LOVE THERE RN THERES A MASSIVE STORM GOING ON
Society peaked in the 90’s
I don't really understand how its got so bad now. Such a shame.

yes, barrow was in great need of diversity back in the 90s for sure
You should be more concerned with the lack of shops and people walking round the town you big ole racist you..
@@PipsClips Barrovians are perfectly capable of standing on their own two feet.
Those were the best days
They were the best days ❤ xxxx
