Love the video, for anyone who wants to do this challenge going for Defensive Matrix is really good since you get very powerful Defensive Armies and you get unity from Soldiers.
Super tall turtle empires are my favourite. The tech nerf kinda ruined it, but you can set tech to 0.25x, then get some scholarium vassals. It will eventually balance out, you just need to get some good systems, the surveyor and build plenty of megastructures. If you go into the Chosen cluster or the L Cluster you can pretty much hole up there, set all crisis to 20x and stay alive. Personally, I love it because you can go virtual for one planet challenge. Or any other ascension route really and stay small. Pretty much no new buildings or systems to worry about after mid game, you just sit there watching the game rub smoother with a single pop type in your empire and every other being destroyed by the crisis. Once you grow strong enough, a single fleet of yours should hit the overflow value and you can send it out to clear the mess.
"Exterdimensional Experiment 1 - Results unsatisfactory - Failure lies on lack of ability to field naval units - Ground based defenses successful when engaged
Strengths - Resistance to orbital bombardment, conventional ground warfare Weaknesses - Armageddon-style bombardment, star-destroying weaponry Recommendation: Enable Naval Construction Protocols for Test 2
I'm only 40 minutes in but I think it's weird you didn't pick up Unyielding in your first 3 traditions, it gives 25% orbital bombardment resistance which stacks additively with your 75% from subterranean (caps at 98%). That's 1/12th the damage. An hour in, Oh it's happenin.
Although i like the mole bots, i still think its funnier to play as cybernetic necrophages so you can do the meme necromancy setup to turn any army kill into your own.
I think rushing defense platforms would have been the way to go. The sheer amount of fleet power you can put on a starbase is terrifying - moreover you can perfectly counter enemy fleet composition. Going for extra orbital bombardment resistance is kinda like preparing for failure, and at least your planets aren't gonna get damaged by a starbase defense. I think it was a wee bit of an oversight not going more into alloys early game
I responded to why I didn’t do this in another comment but I think your strategy is also valid. It would be interesting to see if you could really outpace the entire fleets of admiral AI with just defense stations
@SaintofSol I'm not too experienced in Admiral AI, but in 25 years when I make the courage to try facing it, I'll respond to this comment with my findings 😂
Worth noting that the starbase can be killed before all defense platforms are, so while it can work it isn't the best thing to rely on long-term, as a single powerful target spreading its damage will often eventually get beaten by many smaller targets focusing it (ignoring the fact that AIs love to use frigates too)
The idea of mole droids digging into the core of a planet only for their star to be blown is somehow a very cool idea to me. If they dug deep enough, maybe they could just stay there.
Large Galaxy and Admiral. Uh! For the latter im not good enaugh yet, for the first, my Pc is not good enaugh for that :D *Checks your Channel* Hm.. lots of Stallaris content. *subs.*
Oof, sucks that you got the Crystalline Bane on a run where you can't have ships. I don't think I've ever beaten that thing without some support from fleets. It would take forever that's for sure
I felt like the investment was not worth it, by the midgame the admiral AI would already be able to far overpower defense stations alone, I didn’t see the point in making a bunch of alloys and researching a bunch of tech that would be useless soon. Also the idea of making an empire that doesn’t care if you take all of their starbases in a war is funny
The new Stellaris update destroyed my modded playthough becaused of perfoemance issue. I had a game where i had 15k pop running quite smoothly, now it lag hard at 5k, paradox, if you read this, please revert the performance change done to pops please znd thank you
How did you get that amount?i am using an acot modlist (the only one working on 3.13.0 if i remember correct) and most of my worlds are growing slowly even with all pop growth traits plus two cloning centers (enigmatic plus "normal" one ), plus extreme migration attraction (to the point citizens from fallen empire are immigrating to me)
When I started watching the video, I was really hoping you would allow yourself using the Mining Laser weapons at some point - given that you are THE mining bot Empire, it would make sense that your Empire does not see this as combat, you are just using your mining lasers to blow through something in your way to mine further
@@SaintofSol yeah I am impressed how well this stood up as it was. But if it is possible to do something akin to a "turn the entire galaxy into resources" that would be cool. Kinda fanatical purifiers but instead of genocide you just want to mine the entire galaxy
Could you do another chalange or themed galaxy run video, about being a pirate. So you use sling shot to the stars origin. Letters of markees civic, and salvagers civic. So you get the most out of destroying other empires ships. And you can raid the galaxy by waging wars against empires who have no ability to reach you. You would jump in to their system using the quontum catapult, destroy as many ships as you can, giving energy credits. fallowed right behind by a science’s ships, to salvage the destroyed fleets, giving tech, resources, and new ships. Before activating Emergency FTL to go back to your empire space. And keep raiding the enemy this way through out the war. And doing this over and over to many different empires. If you take a world over in such a pirate raiding war. You can salvage all their structures and districts, before they take back their world, and if the odds look bad at any point. Remember, those who run away, live to steal another day.
should have been Avian race and call it "siiting ducks challenge" :D

That's a great challenge. It makes me want to play and turtle up. Never really played like that.
Yea it’s a very unique and kinda fun way to play, it might even be viable on lower difficulties lol

I’ve been waiting for this! Thank you!

"The galactic fleet are being useless just bombing this 1 planet" Bro just end over a few armies to flip the planet and free them up, you have spares.

The Star broke before the Guard did!

I like the idea that at least some of them survive in the floating planet chunks

Stay tuned for more :)
you should try this with gigastructural engineering it has several structures that could prove usefull in this type of run
Oof, sucks that you got the Crystalline Bane on a run where you can't have ships. I don't think I've ever beaten that thing without some support from fleets. It would take forever that's for sure
Im a sucker for challenge runs, i hope you do more!.
Are we sure senator Armstrong didn’t help make the robots?
Why not build defence platforms? They can help deter the AI from attacking.

i think a spy network/diplomacy only run would be cool
Weasel run, I actually like that idea
Do you ever play multiplayer in stellaris or stick mostly to singleplayer?
I have played multiplayer with friends, but mainly single player

That could be a great idea for another video, playing as mining droids or something

I guess that colossus weapons won’t exist
Stay tuned to see ;)
I thought this was gonna be a full defense and station playthrough hahahaha
Does a gestault conciousness experience pain?
in reference to 21:38
The crystalline entity is so powerful it can make a robot feel pain… or they forgot to change the message on that one lol
For the algorithm!
Stellaris my beloved
Interesting idea.

This game was carried on Mongol backs.
