I think it was fine baki beating oliva since the hanma blood and demon back are the strongest plot armor in the show and so he can move on to the next big thing which is yujiro but I agree the level of patriotism here is extra thicc. my main issue however is oliva needed a big w after this, especially since he's been built up in the series to be one of the strongest men in the entire world, but its all downhill from here. losing to yujiro is fine since he IS the ogre for a reason and it didn't really bother me that the arrival pickle and musashi pushed him further down the list since they never fought him directly and they technically weren't alive before; but it was not just simply losing, but getting absolutely humiliated AND crippled by sukune, which is just another japan stomp on the u.s., that made me sigh... and I'm not even american.

The problem was that the people who were good at it was few and most of them are dead except the old dude Yujiro fought. The knowledge and techniques are advanced but the current practitioners suck. Theres also the example of Mohammad alai Jr (a western fighter using an all around style that was developed in the west based of a another western style, boxing) being show to beat a *number of fighters that used eastern styles*, a lot were fodder sure, but among the fodder there were also *very competent fighters like Doppo and Shibukawa* that in their first encounters at least, *lost to Alai*. So it's not like only eastern people in Baki have the potential for high-level fighting, heck, in the death row inmates arc a lot very capable western fighters were shown, and one of them even was a *Kaioh*(a title normally only given to easterns, because of chinese tradition) despite being american! Just because he was that good!(*Dorian was the best inmate dont @ me*).
