I'm from Pittsburgh born and raised I lived in Charlotte NC for 10 years. I'm moving back in a few more months I'm excited I miss (Da Burgh) aka Pixburgh lol
@ thank you I can’t wait to get back to Pittsburgh. I agree with your comment in regards of Pittsburgh. It’s a gem you noticed what you had once you move away 😢
The reason it feels so much bigger than it is, is because at one time it was more than twice its current population and not too far off from San Francisco’s population. Just like many other cities along the rush belt, population peaked between the early and mid 20th century. Most of the rust belt cities were strong in the manufacturing sector. Pittsburgh was once known as the capital of steel manufacturing. Eventually many factories shut down causing many to flee to other areas for jobs. This also resulting in a major decline in population. However in recent years Pittsburgh has stabilized and has somewhat reinvented itself as a hub for education, tech and healthcare.
I lived on 3rd Ave,for 30 yrs,1955 to 1985 never ever saw my neighborhood on a video before great work.^5I have sent this to all my friends that I grew up with Plus family members.✌️
often overlooked is the fact that the city limits have not changed in the last 100 years, and only cover a small area of about 55sq miles. While the city of Pittsburgh ranks 68th in population, the metropolitan area population of Pittsburgh ranks 27th with 2.4 million. When you compare it to cities that outranked it in population like Oklahoma City and Nashville with sq mileage well above 450 you understand that’s it’s not as small as most people think
I'll take Pittsburgh and it's 3 rivers over Philadelphia any day of the week. Amazing town Pittsburgh. Btw, everything between Pittsburgh and Philly is the functional equivalent of Alabama.
You are correct about Pittsburgh, mainly being white and black. The diversity among white people is spot on (Italian, Irish, Polish). Beechview is becoming a Latin community. Squirrel Hill is Jewish, and Squirrel Hill and Oakland is Asian.
They used to have a Chinatown, but they got pushed out and moved to a different neighborhood. There is a Chinese restaurant left where it was that is great.
Yeah, wow Jose, I'm here in Silicon Valley. Some of these down town shots look similar to parts of downtown SanFrancisco. Is all of this Pittsburgh? I love it, such character.
The stop light with the Green Arrow is a {protected left turn}(oncoming traffics light is red at this time).....once you have a solid green , oncoming Is Green , and if you want to turn left , you have to make sure oncoming traffic is clear for a left turn.
If you see 3 people in Florida with black jackets with hoodies I will think they are going to rob me 😂😂😂😂😂😂 so truthful, Jose tres no wayyy....only one for sure he is going to rob you!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂...well that's the price we pay for living in Sunshine State!!!! Me mataste!! Gracias por estas vacaciones de weekend en mi couch 🛋️!! Love it!!
We're classy but not arrogant? Aww, thanks man. I never heard it put that way, but it sounds right. My guess about the balance you mentioned is the influences of both working-class (so often Pittsburghers talk about our parents and grandparents working in the mills, mines, railroads, etc.) ethics and above-average education. And a value for common sense. Like many southern areas, you'd be sorely mistaken to confuse a particular accent or dialect with lack of intelligence.
You can make a right turn at an intersection with a red light, but you have to come to a complete stop then make the right turn. if you just turn right without stopping, you can get a ticket in your mail or by the police if any present at the intersection.
Thanks for showing my home it’s nice here. Did you enjoy the city? Oh and she is kind of wrong that could happen in real life I’m from the hood and have seen it happen!
I had a feeling you were going toward Pittsburgh when you were in West Virginia I've watched a lot of train videos the one from Chicago to Washington DC goes that way through Pittsburgh and West Virginia I'm guessing you're probably going to Cleveland just a guess. Only 14 minutes into the video right now watching on my TV I like it so far Jose
You started at in Carnegie which isn't Pittsburgh. Then you went into Heidelberg which is not a suburb of Pittsburgh. Anything with a zip code of 152 is Pittsburgh.
It probably wouldn't be your kind of cuisine but You are probably going west from there anyway. If you were going east back toward Harrisburg and Philadelphia somewhere around Lancaster PA the largest buffet in the United States breakfast lunch and dinner and it looks good. It's called Lazy Maple
Never cared for Pittsburgh since the band played there and our Lodging was broken into! 😳😳 Good thing most valuabes were on the gig with us. Never been back or care to, besides, those hills are deadly! 👎👎👎👎👎
Aw, sorry that happened. Do you remember where you were? A lot of areas are pretty safe. I know tons of people that even leave their doors unlocked. Although there are bad people anywhere you go, I think more are pretty decent. I hope if you come back, you have a better experience and feel welcomed!
One thing I noticed driving through Pittsburgh years ago was like everyone smoking,I see you noticed that too.Interesting city but would never live there!!
Amtrak's going to start a new route soon Chicago to Florida it takes this route from Chicago to Washington and then Washington to Miami the same route silver Star takes

Welcome back when you get here! I feel like we have a lot that doesn’t typically get featured. It’s nice to travel but I love coming home.

You didn't notice how he started in Carnegie and then headed for Heidelberg
I love how much you love Pittsburgh that’s dope
Yinzers definitely have accents n'at! Did you ever make it over to the North Shore near the stadiums? Glad you dug the burgh - our hometown.
I'll take Pittsburgh and it's 3 rivers over Philadelphia any day of the week. Amazing town Pittsburgh. Btw, everything between Pittsburgh and Philly is the functional equivalent of Alabama.
Pittsburgh is good but Philly has more stuff to do. Plus it has a higher walk score which means it’s more walkable
Alabama? 😳😳😳😳😳
@@MsRhondaRandy There’s an old joke that I remember even from back in the 90s. Some people would jokingly say outside of Philly it’s PennsylTucky
I love my home city. Very different than when i grew up in the 80s n 90s but still feels like home.
You are correct about Pittsburgh, mainly being white and black. The diversity among white people is spot on (Italian, Irish, Polish). Beechview is becoming a Latin community. Squirrel Hill is Jewish, and Squirrel Hill and Oakland is Asian.
I grew up I'm Carrick. It was white n black, now packed full of Indians. So weird going back there now.
They used to have a Chinatown, but they got pushed out and moved to a different neighborhood. There is a Chinese restaurant left where it was that is great.
I enjoy these high-quality videos. I would love to see drive tours of the industrial areas of the US.
My favorite part of the video was you getting stuck at all of the same red lights I routinely get stuck at 😅. Can’t even escape them online
Its famous for steel production. If you fly over at night, you can see the steel pots where there are melting the metals
LOL, sure dude.
Yeah, wow Jose, I'm here in Silicon Valley. Some of these down town shots look similar to parts of downtown SanFrancisco. Is all of this Pittsburgh? I love it, such character.
East End Pittsburgh girl here! Grew up in Pt. Breeze, Homewood and Shadyside.
@@lesal.1373 I grew up in McCandless Township part of Wexford.
That persistent loud coughing straight into the microphone is super annoying....you should do some editing guy..
You can’t edit a hour long 4K video without crashing your phone and editing software
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS Oh, sorry, I thought this was a pro operation.
😂...or a cough drop, I agree that the coughing was terribly annoying.
They make the best videos
Couple more hours driving and you can visit New Jersey and New York.
Atlantic City New Jersey a cool place to visit
Not during winter, your just gonna sightsee Vagrancy and Neglect
I like more Roanoke, thanks 🙏. Guys be safe!!
I love these travel videos I have been to 31 States myself back in my days a lot of them hopping trains back in the late 80s
We’re working so hard for you guys. 🙂
I love Pittsburgh. The western part is hilly like San Francisco. Wonder how it is to drive in the winter
My thoughts exactly. The city has to tighten up salt truck action daily with those scary ass hills! No thank you.😊😊
it is bad, I used to drive uber on a snow day in the south hills and it was scary
I love pitt one my fav big cities. Alot of good grub too
you have to have a good sturdy car for the harsh winters there.
Lots of people have winter beaters. Literally junk cars specifically for winter driving. I don't, but all my vehicles are 4x4
Yayy Pittsburgh. I like compact city :) Sister city with Da Nang
Are you being funny

Yes you made it to the steeler nation area can you Cleveland Ohio too.? It’s only 2 hours away
Cleveland Ohio would be cool… but he needs to go to Springfield to hang out with the Haitians 😆

Charleroi PA, just south of Pittsburgh is packed full of Haitians also. It's wild.

Drink some Elderberry syrup for the cough
You need to make it up to Albany, Syracuse, Utica New York there’s lots of run down areas to drive around
I hope your cough is better by now.

It's laid out weird. Some of the best inner city neighborhoods are right next to the worst neighborhoods.
Pittsburgh looks like B-More & some parts of Southeast DC😮
