    The degradation of brightness is probably due to the CCFL for backlight and that was back then the standard.

      Agree. Perhaps LED backlighting in modern monitors is more durable and long lasting than CCFL, as LEDs tend to wear out very slowly compared to fluorescent lamp and bulbs.

    5:00 My old HP monitor (bought maybe around 2012-14) have the same four-button interface. Probably, the manufacturer does not even bother to upgrade or make it better.

    I use a 30" and 14" and I use it for video. Max brightness is overrated. Also switch to rec 709 color and it should be fine.
