  • The New Hampshire State House, located in Concord at 107 North Main Street, is the state capitol building of New Hampshire. The capitol houses the New Hampshire General Court, Governor, and Executive Council.
The current statehouse was designed in 1814, and paid for by the city of Concord. In 1816, local Quakers sold the lot where their meetinghouse was to the state of New Hampshire, and the building was built between 1816 and 1819 by architect Stuart Park.
The capitol grounds occupy 2.6 acres and are enclosed by a granite fence. No gate impedes the flow of visitors, as this is "the people's house".
The first session of the General Court began in 1819. The State House is the oldest state capitol in which both houses of the legislature meet in their original chambers.
The cost of construction for the capitol was $82,000. The building was designed and built to house the General Court, its committees, the Governor and Council, the Secretary of State, the State Treasurer, and the State Library.

We enjoyed seeing the Statehouse, Dan and Tori. Been close by getting a great burger at a famous burger joint a few blocks away. You'd think we'd have walked over there! Loved seeing both chambers and governors area. Beautiful impressive building and we loved coming along for the tour. Grand ole flags! Sad history about John Hale and his indirect relationship with Lincoln and John Wilkes Booth!

Yeah the story about John Hale wanting his daughter away from John Wilkes Booth is so crazy. Love hearing historical stories like that! The free tour was so worth it, we LOVED it! Thank you for watching and for your continued support. We truly appreciate it.

Great tour. You really have to wonder if that played any part in the assassination of Lincoln. 😮 Lynn and Danny

The Alabama State Capital Building in Montgomery, Alabama is considered by many to be the most beautiful building (architecturally speaking) of any State Capital Building of all the 50 States.

400 member house? New Hampshire only 401 residents… I wonder what the one guy did to get kicked out??? Glad you went here, I wasn’t able to get inside when I was in the area.
