    Always fascinating. Played with old telephone relays back in the 70’s. For memory’s you can get latching set/reset relays that don’t use power to hold their state. Would probably work for memory and registers.

      Thanks Lawrence. Yes, indeed I could have used latching relays by unplugging the ones that were on my board - or just making the board bigger! Talking of telephone relays have you seen this video of mine? th-cam.com/video/u3O8EiK-ASs/w-d-xo.html

      @@AnthonyFrancisJones No I had not, very nice. I was watching Sam from This Museum is not obsolete who has demoed these units as well. Looked on ebay but the ones on offer were quite pricey. Curious Marc has a video on the 1958 FACOM 128B, a still working relay computer with about 5000 relays. Always fascinated by the old mechanical stuff.

      Great - yes Sam is truly amazing and as for Curious Marc - what can I say!

    This is the best explanation of how logic gates work I've ever seen thank you for this.

      Thanks for that Steven. Glad you liked it. Have you seen my one using reed relays th-cam.com/video/nt_fdmGkF1s/w-d-xo.html in some ways that is even more of a 'cut down' explanation. Maybe I should have a go with tubes (valves) or transistors too! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment so kindly. F-J

      Great Steven - all the physics ones are in the F-J's Physics play list and all numbered in order of filming/publishing. Do leave further comments on them - I enjoy reading them and hearing what people have to say!

    I look forward to that, it being my area of expertise, well it was until I recently decided to end my forty years in the electrical industry. Tony

      I'll have to think of a good way to demonstrate it!

    Thanks for another very interesting video. Because of the “Earth” symbol used for the negative side of the coil I keep thinking that I’m looking at a circuit of some form of a Voltage Operated Earth Fault Leakage Device 😂

    • @AnthonyFrancisJones
      @AnthonyFrancisJones  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes! And in fact I use Earth and Ground and the associated symbols rather loosely! Often I just use the earth symbol for the negative terminal even if it might not be at earth potential. Perhaps I should do one with a home made RCCB or ELCB device?!
