Are we underestimating how lucky he was to position the pour spout in exactly the right spot?... how did he determine where to put it? Was it an educated guess? If so i believe the odds he landed right on the edge is pretty low...

But why not making pouring channel in bottom of the bowl neither no riser vent?
For a better surface either use wax or foam.
